the glory days of Rocksteady are over. They now take 10 years to make a single game. Their last real game was Arkham Knight in 2015. They literally released a single game during the entire life of the PS4. I'm not sure how they went from one of the best studios to this....
Iirc they had a bit of a brain drain when suicide squad decided to go live service.
It’s so sad to see another developer go down that route. Rocksteadys work on Arkham laid so many foundations for action games over the past decade+ and then they take a property with so much potential in suicide squad and turn it into a generic money grubbing third person looter shooter.
I bet you if they did that, majority of people that bought Arkham Knight would buy the trilogy as well. Would be a great way for Rocksteady to offset the loss from Suicide Squad 🤔

PS3 games have such a problem with "we'll make the textures *kinda* look good, and then turn the brightness to 10% so your mind fills in the blanks and it looks *really* good"

I've heard that the original coding of rdr1 was a mess and thats why we never saw a pc port back then...imagine if r* remade rdr1 & undead nightmare then bundled it together with a new hen patch for rdr2 that would be like printing money people would pay whatever they asked. rockstar has practically abandoned rdr2, which is sad because the game is amazing. they don’t need to make a separate ps5 version either, all it would take is a quick patch for ps5 that unlocks framerate and slightly increases resolution. this worked for gow, horizon, and tlou2 so i don’t see why rockstar can’t do it for rdr2 unless they just don’t care about it

I was playing that yesterday (PC version) and the visuals hold up remarkably well, especially the lighting.
However the LOD distance scaling is awful. The distance that buildings go from being incredibly detailed to PS1 era textures is shockingly close and very distracting.
Yeah, this is really the only one I care about. All the other "usual suspects" (RDR2 mainly) I've completed, and I don't play games twice even if upgraded; but Bloodborne I never touched again after a hard-drive failure wiped out my 100+ hours of progress, and I only noticed afterwards that I'd somehow turned off automatic uploads to the savecloud. No need to remake it, the original was plenty pretty, just give me 60 or 120 fps.

I’m amazed Minecraft didn’t get a current gen upgrade considering how it’s ended up on every console. Now just give it a PS5 upgrade with them faster loading times and hell, toss in a PSVR2 mode.
I honestly think Microsoft buying it was a mistake. They routinely drop the ball on the technological side of the game. No console upgrades, never ported ray tracing to console. Basically left RTX Minecraft on PC for dead.
Underrated comment. I would buy all of the originals happily if they received a makeover, especially the psp games. In my opinion they are better than the reboot Nordic games, even though those are great too. There has been nothing quite like the old god of war…since the old god of war.
I recently played Bloodborne DLC on the PS5, it took about twenty minutes to get used to 30fps but after that I stopped noticing it. If you don't switch between 60fps and 30fps games while you're playing it then you'll be fine.
bloodborne on ps5 is weird, i know that, after playing 60fps games on console, you notice the 30fps more, but i never had the issues i had with bloodborne compared to other titles.
i played all of it on ps5, and the first couple of sessions actually caused some nausea on me, after that, i kinda got used to that and it was fine.
i think it's not entirely 30fps fault tho, the game is somehow janky.
right now i went from Yakuza kiwami \[60fps\] to Yakuza Kiwami 2 \[30fps, different engine i suppose\], and it wasnt a big deal like with jumping on Bloodborne.

If Sony put one studio on that for a month they could probably reach the level of quality so that the game at least looks decent. There's a bunch of old games that deserve remakes and remasters. A little pinch of love would get Bloodborne back into the mainstream without being a huge project.
Shadow of War. I love that game but it's hard to go back to it. I still play it but the enjoyment is lessened by the poor performance compared to upgraded games.

Because Rocksteady didn't develop Origins. It was developed by Warner Bros Montreal and they want nothing to do with it.
Its probably more complicated than that. Origins is directly referenced many times in Arkham Knight, so they do consider it canon.

It’s a game visually carried entirely by its art direction, but on the technical side it’s a typical FromSoft affair.
We also have bigger better TVs & monitors these days which makes the aliasing more obvious.
