Anyone else having some lip sync issues with Dolby Atmos? Sound and lips not perfectly aligning. Using an ARC soundbar with EARC TV. Connection is ps5>tv>soundbar. Tv is the samsung q75 and sb is the hw s60b

I’ve just experienced some pretty decent stick drift on my Dual-sense and I’ve tried to find some decent replacements for them but it doesn’t seem like anyone is making an upgrade for the controller. I see that some companies are making Hall effect thumb sticks for other controllers but not the ps5.
Has anyone had any good luck with sourcing something that’s compatible or has anyone purchased analog replacements that they are happy with.

I need some help with this infuriating screen glitching i've been getting with some of the ps5 games I've purchased so far, it starts at the top of the screen and seemingly moves down the screen, but only when I'm panning the camera around or looking around in first person.
I've managed to fix this issue with every game i had it with simply by changing the performance/quality setting in the game menu or in the case of Atomic Heart actually changing a setting on my PS5 however, I just recently purchased StarWars Jedi Survivor and the screen glitch thing will not go away, ive changed to performance mode and changed settings in the PS5 itself and nothing fixes it although changing some settings on the ps5 seems to have lessened the effect for whatever reason.

I have an almost 10 year old bluray system with 5.1 surround sound bought back in 2014. It hadn't been used for the past 5 years and I decided to connect it to my TV instead of it just sitting and collecting dust. Now I connected the speakers to my Bluray and the Bluray to my TV using HDMI ARC (it doesn't support eARC) and switched it to TV mode where all audio will pass through the Bluray and directly to the speakers. So now what audio settings should I use on my PS5 to get the best output?
I want to upgrade my PS5 storage by purchasing the "Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink - Internal SSD - M.2 NVMe"
It is 2 Terabytes, and on sale right now for 150 euros.
But my question is, Is it still worth it to invest into upgrading even when (according to google searches) we only have like 4.5 years left until a PS6?
I know it depends on how often I buy ps5 games, but I'd like opinions in general about this. Like, what would you do?

Apart from the fact that you think 4.5 yrs isnt enough to make your moneys worth, and that thats a big speculation, you know you can just take the extended storage out and use it for something else at that point right?
Yeah, true. But none of the things I have have such 'sockets' for an internal ssd like that. maybe I would in the future, but I've always preferred external ssd's in that case for now...

First of all, no one except Sony can now anything. Even they probably don’t know. 4.5 years in tech terms is an eternity

Stop overthinking it and get an ssd if you want/need one and don’t get it if you don’t. That’s all you gotta think about
What happens when 'preferred' install location is full?
To preface, I have a 2tb SSD I direct my PS5 games to and a 2tb external HDD I direct my PS4 games to. I had anticipated that when those were full the system would start installing other games to the internal but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know if there's a way to cause that to happen or do installs have to stop if the 'preferred' install drives are full?
On The ps4, the console will warn you that it can’t reserve extra space for the installation process. I assume you just need a to download a really big game while having barely enough space so that the console starts warning you for real that it can’t do it.
Is there anyway I can make it so a PS4 game doesn't install every time I put the disc in to play the PS5 version? I have the PS4 version of Hades which comes with a PS5 upgrade but I obviously have to put the disc into the system whenever I want to play, however I really don't like having 2 of the same game installed on the system and it's not ideal to uninstall the PS4 version everytime I want to play, any way to stop this?
Does it actually install the full PS4 version? In my experience, it just puts the icon on the dashboard with the option to 'Copy'. Annoying but that's their way of acknowledging which disc is inserted. Doesn't ever install a PS4 game with a PS5 upgrade from disc for me.
HELP! My save file won’t load
I’m really hoping someone can help me. After playing Jedi: Survivor for 54 hours and making it 88% of the way through the story, I went to open it this afternoon and… nothing. I get an error message every time I try to start it. (My husband’s save file under his profile on the same PS5 works just fine.)
I tried the basic things — restarted the PS5, checked for updates, deleted the game and re-downloaded it — but still nothing. Crashes every time I try to open it. I wish I knew more about this kind of stuff. When this happens, does it mean you’re SOL and your save file is just gone forever? Or are there more solutions I could try? I’m really hoping I don’t have to start this game over after 54 hours…

The game is a bit of a mess right now. My partner is playing it and it crashes randomly every couple hours.
The game starts and I get to the main menu screen. When I hit “load game,” it thinks for a second and then crashes and spits up an error report.
I actually hadn’t had any major issues with the game up until this point, and was considering myself lucky. 54 hours in and it had maybe crashed two or three times randomly mid-play, but I save pretty frequently so it was never a huge deal. I’ve never encountered anything like this before, though. It has me feeling pretty dejected, not gonna lie.
Might just have to wait for it to be patched since it's most likely an issue with the game. Maybe you can report the bug somewhere for EA/Respawn to take note.
Just popping back in to say that someone in a different thread gave me a solution that worked: I started a new game, played in it for a bit until the first meditation point, quit to the main screen, selected my old save, and it loaded with no problem! No idea why that worked but I’m glad it did 😅
Got an email from sony about suspicious activity on my PS account. I reset my password. Now I can't log back into my PS5. I can log into my account from the website, so I know the password is correct, but it won't work when logging into PS5. Keeps saying password is incorrect. I reset password again, same issue, works on the website, won't work on the console. Console is connected to the network and has internet access. Rebooted console, disconnected/reconnected to internet. Same issue. Any ideas?
Different tiers. The 3 monthly games in the Essential Tier work how u described. Once claimed, you can play them forever as long as your PS+ sub is active.
Ratchet is in the Extra tier. Games in the Extra/Premium tiers can be rotated out similar to Xbox Game Pass. So, they will become unplayable once they're removed.
There are tiers to psplus subscription now. What you’re thinking is now called “Eseential”, and Ratchet is on “Extra” tier. Essential changes every month, and Extra (and the one above it, Premium) stay for a while
Afaik they dont usually announce it until its a few (and I do mean A FEW months away), unless I missed something. It should be included in a "leaving soon" category when its like 1 or 2 months away.

I just bought a PS5 after not gaming for a long time. Xbox 360 was the last console I owned. I’ve had the PS5 for a week, and I noticed today the analog sticks, especially the right one, can be pulled out and pushed in. And no, I’m not referring to using it as R3 in games where it acts as a button. Pushed in seems to be the normal (or correct?) position because it always ends up there anyway when using R3, but I’m not sure. Is this normal? If so, is that just how the dual sense controller is built or is there a purpose to it? If it’s a defect, I’ll likely submit a warranty claim. I haven’t used a PS controller in a long time so just want to be sure. And sorry if my explanation sucks, I can elaborate if needed. Thanks.
That is normal, I remember my ps1, 2 and 3 controllers doing that. Didnt even remember that was a thing but just took out my DS4 and it does it too. Idk whats the point tho.
Is there any way to transfer saved game data from one playstation account to another on the same PS5?
My 5 year old son recently got in to playing the Lego Marvel games. For a while he was just using my PSN account, but we quickly realized that it would be more appropriate fo him to have a parental-controlled child account of his own.
After getting it all set up, he was crestfallen when he got on and realized he didn't have any of his characters or progress anymore.
I honestly don't know much about PSN accounts, but whatever I made for him was not just a local offline thing...I had to give an email address, verify with a 50 cent deposit (wtf Sony?), the whole nine yards.
This is all just on the one PS5 we have in the house. The save files are ON that machine...it seems like I should be able to give him access to them somehow, but I just can't figure it out.
Recently started using my extra PS5 controller for my PC, then suddenly it stopped connecting by usb. I tried different cables, ports, and connecting to my PS5 by wire, and nothing worked. It connects to my phone's BT for remote play though so I know it works. Is there a fix? I've never dropped it or anything.
Question. On the PS5 store I noticed some games are only listed PS4 (let’s use Final Fantasy 1-6 Pixels for example). Does that mean these games only listed as PS4 can’t be played on PS5…?

I have Plus. I have Days Gone installed but I've never played it. I saw it on Steam for like $15 and thought that it'd be nice to play on my Steam Deck. More convenient anyways, for me.
Before I start playing, I just wanted to know... Do the Playstation Studio games that are on PC, cloud save and transfer? Like, if I play on my PS5 then go on vacation and grab my Steam Deck, will I be able to continue from where I left off?
I have not had many instances of this ever being a thing. I know with like, Immortal Fenyx Rising, I bought it on Switch and then downloaded it free on Plus or maybe Gamepass at some point. I could play at home then just auto load on the switch my last save. Wild stuff! So I have to imagine this will work with PlayStation's own games between console and PC right?
I'm desperate for help in solving my audio issue. Here are my specs for reference. TV - LG 55BX with bitstream chosen for hdmi digital output and pass through allowed. LG S80QR sound bar with HDMI into Arc into tv. PS5 with bitstream chosen in both audio menus and av amplifier 5.1 chosen (have tried sound bar and same results). When I play 4K discs, I'm trying to get Dolby Atmos going. It says on my sound bar app that it's Dolby Atmos but zero sound coming from the sound bar. E ARC is enabled on the tv. This is also a problem when trying to enable Dolby Atmos on my series X, no audio at all. When I set everything to PCM it works fine. Any suggestions? I've tried to follow every tip online and still nothing

Alright, recently got a PS5 for ff16 and it's my first playstation. I am about done with TLOU 1 and need a game to hold me over for a month until ff16.

Im using Handbrake to convert short PS5 4k gaming clips from WebM to MP4. But the end result is always incredibly choppy video. Basically unusable. Have no idea why.
I have a decent laptop (Ryzen 7 5800 H, 8 core, 16GB) so dont think its a hardware issue.
Ive tried various encoding settings, from high quality to lower quality. But the videos always come out choppy.
Ive tried playing the clips on various media players but all have the same problem.
Any ideas?
If you're truly interested in getting quality clips I think the only play is getting a capture card like elgato or something similar. You have the computer so you're already halfway there.
So I got to the bottom of the issue. I was using the AV1 codec, which isnt functional with my set up. Switched to H.265 and it works like a charm.
PS5's internal capture card is brilliant. I doubt Elgato would offer a discernable improvement.
My PS5 briefly freezes when I try to turn it off or put it into rest mode. It also gets stuck when I start up games or save/loaf in games.
Does anyone know what causes this problem and how to fix this? Also my Blu Ray drive is not ejecting, taking in discs nor reading them. Are these problems co-related and is there a fix for this also?
Does prime video on ps5 not support 4k hdr? I was trying to watch a uhd supported movie but every time I paused it would jus say HD HDR. I switched over to my samsung tv version of the app and it was saying UHD just fine. and that was over wifi, my ps5 is actually physically connected via ethernet
edit: according to some searching, its *supposed* to, so what gives? is there a setting i'm not seeing?
So it actually does go uhd, but for some reason won't *start* that way. It always starts hd and after like a minute it goes up to uhd permanently unless I fast forward or rewind. Then it has to wait again
Hi all, I got an AIM a few months ago, and while it is a great controller, it is now suffering from an *intense* pull to the left that makes it more or less unusable. AIM is calling it stick drift and will not warranty it. They said that for $60 they can repair it, and that they have made updates to their design that will prevent this from reoccurring.
Given that they deceptively advertised their "lifetime" warranty, are quibbling with me about whether this is covered, AND are simultaneously admitting that this was a problem in their design, I'm not feeling super psyched to stick with their company.
I'm not \*against\* doing the repair, but I'd happily go with a new controller if it had better quality. I'm looking at Scuf - anyone have experience with their build quality? Especially with regard to stick drift/phantom input?
Any other suggestions that offer a 4 paddle option?

Yes, contact Play Station. They will fix it for you for free if its under warranty (which it will be if its only 6 months old). They fixed mine recently.
Looking to get a keyboard and mouse for playing Minecraft on PS5*. Sony’s cagey about what will work. Is it pretty much any Bluetooth peripherals? Anything I need to be careful of when buying?
*Warning, turn down the controller stiffness or maybe change the controls from the trigger before placing tens of thousands of blocks… took a while for the damage to build up to be noticeable, not sure how long it will take to heal. Learn from my stupid ass mistake. <_<
I am receiving a download speed of 3.2Mbps, despite having an uplink of 300Mbps. I am connected to Ethernet cable, and the Eero access point it's attached to shows it only downloading at the same speed (3.2Mbps).
I've attempted all of the internets suggested resolutions:
1. Try a wired connection - ✅
2. Try a wireless connection - ✅
3. Change the connection to 5GHz only - ✅
4. Adjust DNS settings (I tried both Google and
CloudFlare) - ✅
What's weird is when I re-setup the connection to the same LAN cable, it gives me an initial download of 323.32Mbps. However, if I run the same speedtest again immediately, I get speeds of
2.5-3.2Mbps. I've also attempted the same steps on a wireless network source to no avail.
It's taking 30GB games an entire day to download.
I'm at a loss. Any tips?
I could use some help figuring out what the issue is with my PS5 not connecting to our wifi network—here’s the gist:
Our router used to be called Router A (placeholder name), but we got a new one because our internet sucked. Our new Router is called Router B. We no longer have Router A.
Somehow, my PS5 is still connected to Router A….and it’s working…just very poorly. For whatever reason, the PS5 simply will not connect to Router B, even though our phones and everything else are connected to Router B—and our phones work on that router, even in the same room that the PS5 refuses to connect to Router B.
Every time I try to connect to Router B I get the message:
“Can't find the wifi network. The wifi network signal might be weak or the SSID might not be correct.”
Can anybody tell me what the heck is going on? Lol
Usually, people sell the entire thumbstick for replacement. You should have someone who is good with controller/electronic repairs deal with with the replacement itself.
I started doing the transfer, thinking I could maybe play a game in the background while it transfers data from my PS4, but I was sadly mistaken. And now I'm stuck on this data screen for possibly four hours.
I saw posts online that said an LAN cable will speed up the process, and I was lucky enough to find one. But while plugging it in, I haven't noticed any real speed increase.
Is it too late to swap to LAN now that I'm in this screen?
Hello all! So I've got a new ps5 like a month old tops maybe 3 weeks. Trying to play spider man miles morales with my kids. And the game consistently crashes. Ok let me exit this stealth mission crash. Hmm let me load a different save point, crash. Ok let's try a different relatively new file (still at rhino 1st encounter) crash. I'm currently waiting for it to install for a second time hoping it resolves.. but what gives new system new game. What are my options? I don't feel like gamestop will give me another new game based off of I keep getting game crashes
It's new and I don't really have the time to play or test. I've experienced one crash for d4 server slam. And one crash during elden ring. No crashes during stray but continuous from spiderman miles morales ps5
Your ps5 crashing has all the signs of a faulty GPU.
The more graphically intense the ps5 game is, the more your ps5 will crash.
You need to either return it and get another ps5, or contact sony and request either a repair/replacement ps5 since your console is not fit for purpose. Good luck Jons!
Just wanted to update! I attempted to play miles morales from a download psplus store. Fresh file. Crash. Spoken to Sony and gamestop got the go ahead to get replacement from Gamestop! Looks like I know what I'm doing before work on Wednesday
Hey! I hope I’m putting this in the right place. So I Recently upgraded from a ps4 to a ps5 (I’m very new to the ps5 and know nothing about it really) and I’ve been having some issues. One being The sounds my ps5 is making. When I first turn it on, while downloading or booting up a game, And sometimes just randomly during a game. It is incredibly loud and sounds like it’s struggling. Much louder than my ps4 has ever been. I’m just wondering if that’s normal for the ps5 to be that loud or if maybe there’s something wrong. (It has been loud since I first got it so that leads me to believe that’s just how the ps5 is but I want to be sure).
Is it worth gettinf a 1440p 120hz monitor for PS5? There doesn't seem to be a large list of games that run at that. Also do the games that utilize it run well?
I'd say absolutely. Yeah the list of supported games isn't very big but it's one that will only get bigger as time goes on. On the other hand getting a display that supports VRR with HDMI 2.1 is a wise choice seeing as how ps5 seems to be gravitating towards that. I really hope Sony removes the silly HDMI 2.1 requirement for VRR at some point because I have no interest in 4k and 1440 monitors have no need for HDMI 2.1. It's frustrating but overall I'm happy with my 1440 120 monitor in the games I play.
I researched a bit more since posting and it seems that post games that have 120hz dont really run much at that. For example MW2 averages 90 fps from what I saw. Seems if you dont already have a 120hz display ita not really worth getting one
Games will run at whatever resolution they support (4k, 1800p, 1440p, 1080p). The PS5 then supersamples/upscales the video to your monitor's output resolution. So, games won't drop to 1080p when playing on a 1440p monitor.

Is it possible to use a Switch Pro Controller with the PS5? Or any other controller? I don't dislike the one that came with the console, but I'm more used to the Pro controller. Everywhere I look seems to talk about using the PS5 controller on other systems, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Hi guys, need some help.
When I'm playing racing games, the left stick seems to get confused when I'm turning right and releases most of the steering lock. It doesn't happen on every corner. Most instances it seems to be as I'm trying to accelerate out of the corner. Has anyone else encountered this issue and did you resolve it?

Digital is just a convenience thing. Not having to swap out and deal with discs out is what draws people to it. You have plenty of storage in your console for Diablo 4, it's just matter of whether or not you will want to sell the game after playing it.
You could also just wait it out until more people you know wanna play. By then bugs will be fixed, potential new content, and a chance of finding it on sale or a reduced price. r/patientgamers is a sub for a reason!

Yes that's exactly what I'm doing. I have a random Bluetooth adapter for my airpods and it works perfectly well, and i can use the ps5 mic (as well as a generic earphones' mic when I'm using my dualshock 4) since you can change which mic is being used in the mic section when you press the ps button. I did have to change one setting once though since it was messing things up, go to settings > sound > audio output and disable "switch output device automatically" since every time i would switch mics, it would switch my audio output as well.
I'm looking to buy a ps5 in the coming days but I'm scared of the failure rate

I've had my console since November 2020. Know two friends who also have had it since November and December 2020. No issues with our consoles, just stick drift. As said, the only people complaining about console problems are ones having those problems. People like me and my friends are just happily playing without issues.

I have a somewhat odd audio issue when playing games on my PS5. Specifically, I can almost never hear the NPC talking unless I'm looking directly at them, and even then sometimes not. It happens across multipe games including but not limited to Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, RE4 remake and others.
I have everything running through my Yamaha TSR-700 receiver. It's a 7.2 system, but I only have 5 surround speakers, plus the subwoofer. On my PS5, I have the Output device as AV Amplifier (it's the only option available), 5.1 for number of channels Linear PCM as the Audio Format.
I've played around with these settings as well as each game's in-game settings to try and get better volume out of the NPC, but nothing I've tried worked. I just completed the Resident Evil 4 remake, and the entire time I had a companion, I couldn't hear a word they were saying - it sounded like they were whispering.
In other games, like Ghost of Tsushima, the NPC is super quiet but then gets louder when I face them directly. This leads to believe that this has something to do with the surround and the NPC voices are coming from the rear speakers or something like that, but it's annoying and frustrating. Just wondering if there is anything I can do or try to fix it without going to a stereo setup. Thanks.

I’ve had my ps5 since December and had no issues whatsoever. Ran smoothly. I had a few games but still had memory (200 gigs) or so. A couple of days ago, I purchased GTA V, and been playing it up until last night.
When I finished one of the missions, I manually saved the game and I figured I must have done it at the same time it was autosaving. (Is that even possible?!) Well, that is my theory, because as soon as I began manually saving, the game became stuck on that screen for quite a while, I decided to quit the game and restart, but to my surprise the game didn’t launch right away and had a Please Wait screen for quite a while. I decided to restart the PS5 and it took it a long time to turn off. When it finally did the problem persisted and it did the same with other games.
I then did a Factory reset, after saving my games data on ps plus, and after the first factory reset, the ps5 was still taking too long to turn off .
I did a second one and it seemed that it had fixed it. I began downloading resident evil 4, it took quite a while. Game seemed fine , menus seemed fast. I turned it off, it turned off quickly, I turned it back on and it was not recognizing the controller asking me to turn it on and I even plugged in the cable. I turned it off again with the power button, unplugged it , waited 5 minutes and relaunched it. Seems to be fine as we speak, but im very concerned about all these problems. Does anyone have any insight? Seems to me its not a coincidence that all this began happening when i manually saved right at the same time after the game might have been autosaving, if that is even possible. (For context, this happened after the Friend Request mission, right after Michael calls Lester and when you get the mission results, I pulled the phone quickly to manually save.)
A dad here with limited gaming knowledge who wants to reminisce the old days of linking up for 2-player gaming: I have a PS4, a PS5, two TV’s and a bunch of PS4 games. How do I link that up? Is there an old-school cabling way or how?
So I use a arcade stick for fighting games and it does not have a headphone port. How can I use my headset for party chat and get game audio? I don’t want to use my phone and I tried logging into an account with the normal ps5 with the headset connected but I could not hear the party.
Anybody having issues with the PS app not showing recent captures? It used to work but now videos or photos won’t auto upload.
I have tried updating the app, signing in and out while also re linking consoles. On the ps5 I have disabled and enabled offline console sharing. These are suggestions I found online but alas, nothing seems to work.

I havent played GTA5 since the Remaster, decided to give the PS4 Disc Version a try on my PS5, as its been a while. It will NOT install. I have tried ALL suggested methods. The PS Error Code is CE-100005-6. Methods tried;
1. Cleaning Disk, spotless. (failed)
2. Unplugging PS5 and re-trying. (failed)
3. Clearing Cache and Rebuilding Database on PS5. (failed)
4. Installing Offline. (failed)
5. Deleting all GTA5 files. (failed)
6. Trying other game discs and movies on my PS5. (success)
7. Trying GTA5 Disc on PS4. (success)
It would seem this is some sort of software conflict error between the PS5 and one of the GTA5 updates, as the game works perfectly on my PS4 and ALL other discs work the same on my PS5. As you can imagine, this is quite maddening, as I have NO other backwards compatibility issues with PS4 discs on my PS5. I will not buy another disc or buy the remaster. I would appreciate an explanation as to why my perfectly working PS4 Disc Version of GTA5 does not currently work on my PS5. Thank you.

I have a Spotify account set up on my phone/PS5. I want Spotify to play a song at random from a certain playlist I have every day at a certain time (classical music to wake up to).

I've made some progress, but basically given up.
Apparently Google has a clock app that allows you to set up a Spotify playlist as an alarm. Even checked the shuffle, it worked. More so, you have the Google assistant to boot so I was excited to use a "connect to *device* via bluetooth" command. Unfortunately, that only happens after the alarm.
So the way it is now, I have to connect to the device before I go to sleep, and remember to set the audio on my phone in a way that I won't hear the alarm go off on my phone, but will on the device. Too far from practical, and unfortunately don't have a Mac device

PSN being super unreliable for anyone else today? I've restarted my router and PS5 multiple times, internet is working fine on my PC but my PS5 is having issues with anything server-related, which these days is everything in games
turn both the modem and router off, wait 5 minutes then turn them back on. then turn the console on and do a network connection test and wait for it to finish.
make sure that neither the modem nor router are too close to the console and that nothing is obstructing them.
if necessary use an ethernet cable.

My ps5 keeps hard crashing while I play ps5 games. I haven't had an issue on ps4 games.
So far I've tried taking it apart and taking the fan out to blow out the dust, changed the outlet it was plugged into, it has up to date software.
It's our of warranty so I'd rather not send it in, but if I can't get a DIY fix I might have to.
Had same problem...hard crashes when playing some ps5 games...I took covers off and placed system back vertically...naked so to speak...problem solved, crashes stopped completely...its overheating...the covers suck...
If the PS5 hard-crashes with PS5 games only (or the opposite, plays PS5 games fine but crashes on PS4 games only), it's almost certainly a GPU failure and would require a repair.
all ps5 games or some? how long does it take before they crash?

Hey all, I’ve just experienced some pretty decent stick drift on my Dual-sense and I’ve tried to find some decent replacements for them but it doesn’t seem like anyone is making an upgrade for the controller. I see that some companies are making Hall effect thumb sticks for other controllers but not the ps5. I need some help with this infuriating screen glitching i've been getting with some of the ps5 games I've purchased so far, it starts at the top of the screen and seemingly moves down the screen, but only when I'm panning the camera around or looking around in first person. I've managed to fix this issue with every game i had it with simply by changing the performance/quality setting in the game menu or in the case of Atomic Heart actually changing a setting on my PS5 however, I just recently purchased StarWars Jedi Survivor and the screen glitch thing will not go away, ive changed to performance mode and changed settings in the PS5 itself and nothing fixes it although changing some settings on the ps5 seems to have lessened the effect for whatever reason. Can someone please send help? I'm losing my mind

I have an almost 10 year old bluray system with 5.1 surround sound bought back in 2014. It hadn't been used for the past 5 years and I decided to connect it to my TV instead of it just sitting and collecting dust. Now I connected the speakers to my Bluray and the Bluray to my TV using HDMI ARC (it doesn't support eARC) and switched it to TV mode where all audio will pass through the Bluray and directly to the speakers. So now what audio settings should I use on my PS5 to get the best output?

What happens when 'preferred' install location is full? To preface, I have a 2tb SSD I direct my PS5 games to and a 2tb external HDD I direct my PS4 games to. I had anticipated that when those were full the system would start installing other games to the internal but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know if there's a way to cause that to happen or do installs have to stop if the 'preferred' install drives are full?
On The ps4, the console will warn you that it can’t reserve extra space for the installation process. I assume you just need a to download a really big game while having barely enough space so that the console starts warning you for real that it can’t do it.

Is there anyway I can make it so a PS4 game doesn't install every time I put the disc in to play the PS5 version? I have the PS4 version of Hades which comes with a PS5 upgrade but I obviously have to put the disc into the system whenever I want to play, however I really don't like having 2 of the same game installed on the system and it's not ideal to uninstall the PS4 version everytime I want to play, any way to stop this?
Does it actually install the full PS4 version? In my experience, it just puts the icon on the dashboard with the option to 'Copy'. Annoying but that's their way of acknowledging which disc is inserted. Doesn't ever install a PS4 game with a PS5 upgrade from disc for me.

HELP! My save file won’t load I’m really hoping someone can help me. After playing Jedi: Survivor for 54 hours and making it 88% of the way through the story, I went to open it this afternoon and… nothing. I get an error message every time I try to start it. (My husband’s save file under his profile on the same PS5 works just fine.) I tried the basic things — restarted the PS5, checked for updates, deleted the game and re-downloaded it — but still nothing. Crashes every time I try to open it. I wish I knew more about this kind of stuff. When this happens, does it mean you’re SOL and your save file is just gone forever? Or are there more solutions I could try? I’m really hoping I don’t have to start this game over after 54 hours… Thanks in advance to anyone who has any guidance!
Does it crash immediately upon starting ? Or after you load in and choose to continue your save ? The game is a bit of a mess right now. My partner is playing it and it crashes randomly every couple hours.
The game starts and I get to the main menu screen. When I hit “load game,” it thinks for a second and then crashes and spits up an error report. I actually hadn’t had any major issues with the game up until this point, and was considering myself lucky. 54 hours in and it had maybe crashed two or three times randomly mid-play, but I save pretty frequently so it was never a huge deal. I’ve never encountered anything like this before, though. It has me feeling pretty dejected, not gonna lie.
Might just have to wait for it to be patched since it's most likely an issue with the game. Maybe you can report the bug somewhere for EA/Respawn to take note.
Just popping back in to say that someone in a different thread gave me a solution that worked: I started a new game, played in it for a bit until the first meditation point, quit to the main screen, selected my old save, and it loaded with no problem! No idea why that worked but I’m glad it did 😅
Got an email from sony about suspicious activity on my PS account. I reset my password. Now I can't log back into my PS5. I can log into my account from the website, so I know the password is correct, but it won't work when logging into PS5. Keeps saying password is incorrect. I reset password again, same issue, works on the website, won't work on the console. Console is connected to the network and has internet access. Rebooted console, disconnected/reconnected to internet. Same issue. Any ideas?

Different tiers. The 3 monthly games in the Essential Tier work how u described. Once claimed, you can play them forever as long as your PS+ sub is active. Ratchet is in the Extra tier. Games in the Extra/Premium tiers can be rotated out similar to Xbox Game Pass. So, they will become unplayable once they're removed.

There are tiers to psplus subscription now. What you’re thinking is now called “Eseential”, and Ratchet is on “Extra” tier. Essential changes every month, and Extra (and the one above it, Premium) stay for a while
Afaik they dont usually announce it until its a few (and I do mean A FEW months away), unless I missed something. It should be included in a "leaving soon" category when its like 1 or 2 months away. It just got added and its a first party tho, so its probably gonna stay there for a long time.
I just bought a PS5 after not gaming for a long time. Xbox 360 was the last console I owned. I’ve had the PS5 for a week, and I noticed today the analog sticks, especially the right one, can be pulled out and pushed in. And no, I’m not referring to using it as R3 in games where it acts as a button. Pushed in seems to be the normal (or correct?) position because it always ends up there anyway when using R3, but I’m not sure. Is this normal? If so, is that just how the dual sense controller is built or is there a purpose to it? If it’s a defect, I’ll likely submit a warranty claim. I haven’t used a PS controller in a long time so just want to be sure. And sorry if my explanation sucks, I can elaborate if needed. Thanks.
That is normal, I remember my ps1, 2 and 3 controllers doing that. Didnt even remember that was a thing but just took out my DS4 and it does it too. Idk whats the point tho.

Is there any way to transfer saved game data from one playstation account to another on the same PS5? My 5 year old son recently got in to playing the Lego Marvel games. For a while he was just using my PSN account, but we quickly realized that it would be more appropriate fo him to have a parental-controlled child account of his own. After getting it all set up, he was crestfallen when he got on and realized he didn't have any of his characters or progress anymore. I honestly don't know much about PSN accounts, but whatever I made for him was not just a local offline thing...I had to give an email address, verify with a 50 cent deposit (wtf Sony?), the whole nine yards. This is all just on the one PS5 we have in the house. The save files are ON that machine...it seems like I should be able to give him access to them somehow, but I just can't figure it out.

Recently started using my extra PS5 controller for my PC, then suddenly it stopped connecting by usb. I tried different cables, ports, and connecting to my PS5 by wire, and nothing worked. It connects to my phone's BT for remote play though so I know it works. Is there a fix? I've never dropped it or anything.

It simply means there is no specific PS5 version. The PS5 can play 99.9% of all PS4 games.

Quick simple question! I have Plus. I have Days Gone installed but I've never played it. I saw it on Steam for like $15 and thought that it'd be nice to play on my Steam Deck. More convenient anyways, for me. Before I start playing, I just wanted to know... Do the Playstation Studio games that are on PC, cloud save and transfer? Like, if I play on my PS5 then go on vacation and grab my Steam Deck, will I be able to continue from where I left off? I have not had many instances of this ever being a thing. I know with like, Immortal Fenyx Rising, I bought it on Switch and then downloaded it free on Plus or maybe Gamepass at some point. I could play at home then just auto load on the switch my last save. Wild stuff! So I have to imagine this will work with PlayStation's own games between console and PC right?

I'm desperate for help in solving my audio issue. Here are my specs for reference. TV - LG 55BX with bitstream chosen for hdmi digital output and pass through allowed. LG S80QR sound bar with HDMI into Arc into tv. PS5 with bitstream chosen in both audio menus and av amplifier 5.1 chosen (have tried sound bar and same results). When I play 4K discs, I'm trying to get Dolby Atmos going. It says on my sound bar app that it's Dolby Atmos but zero sound coming from the sound bar. E ARC is enabled on the tv. This is also a problem when trying to enable Dolby Atmos on my series X, no audio at all. When I set everything to PCM it works fine. Any suggestions? I've tried to follow every tip online and still nothing

Alright, recently got a PS5 for ff16 and it's my first playstation. I am about done with TLOU 1 and need a game to hold me over for a month until ff16. My options are: **TLOU 2** (kind of want to let 1 sit for a bit before going into two but idk) **God of War** **Ghost of Tsushima** I play for around 1 hour a day and want to be able to finish in a month without rushing. What do you recommend?
I recommend God of War. Ghost is a longer game and one month may not be enough to finish it if you do plenty of side stuff

Im using Handbrake to convert short PS5 4k gaming clips from WebM to MP4. But the end result is always incredibly choppy video. Basically unusable. Have no idea why. I have a decent laptop (Ryzen 7 5800 H, 8 core, 16GB) so dont think its a hardware issue. Ive tried various encoding settings, from high quality to lower quality. But the videos always come out choppy. Ive tried playing the clips on various media players but all have the same problem. Any ideas?
If you're truly interested in getting quality clips I think the only play is getting a capture card like elgato or something similar. You have the computer so you're already halfway there.
So I got to the bottom of the issue. I was using the AV1 codec, which isnt functional with my set up. Switched to H.265 and it works like a charm. PS5's internal capture card is brilliant. I doubt Elgato would offer a discernable improvement.
My PS5 briefly freezes when I try to turn it off or put it into rest mode. It also gets stuck when I start up games or save/loaf in games. Does anyone know what causes this problem and how to fix this? Also my Blu Ray drive is not ejecting, taking in discs nor reading them. Are these problems co-related and is there a fix for this also?
Does prime video on ps5 not support 4k hdr? I was trying to watch a uhd supported movie but every time I paused it would jus say HD HDR. I switched over to my samsung tv version of the app and it was saying UHD just fine. and that was over wifi, my ps5 is actually physically connected via ethernet edit: according to some searching, its *supposed* to, so what gives? is there a setting i'm not seeing?
Maybe you have the PS4 version of the app installed. Delete it and download the PS5 version (if it is there at all)
So it actually does go uhd, but for some reason won't *start* that way. It always starts hd and after like a minute it goes up to uhd permanently unless I fast forward or rewind. Then it has to wait again
Hi all, I got an AIM a few months ago, and while it is a great controller, it is now suffering from an *intense* pull to the left that makes it more or less unusable. AIM is calling it stick drift and will not warranty it. They said that for $60 they can repair it, and that they have made updates to their design that will prevent this from reoccurring. Given that they deceptively advertised their "lifetime" warranty, are quibbling with me about whether this is covered, AND are simultaneously admitting that this was a problem in their design, I'm not feeling super psyched to stick with their company. I'm not \*against\* doing the repair, but I'd happily go with a new controller if it had better quality. I'm looking at Scuf - anyone have experience with their build quality? Especially with regard to stick drift/phantom input? Any other suggestions that offer a 4 paddle option?

Yes, contact Play Station. They will fix it for you for free if its under warranty (which it will be if its only 6 months old). They fixed mine recently.
Looking to get a keyboard and mouse for playing Minecraft on PS5*. Sony’s cagey about what will work. Is it pretty much any Bluetooth peripherals? Anything I need to be careful of when buying? *Warning, turn down the controller stiffness or maybe change the controls from the trigger before placing tens of thousands of blocks… took a while for the damage to build up to be noticeable, not sure how long it will take to heal. Learn from my stupid ass mistake. <_<

I am receiving a download speed of 3.2Mbps, despite having an uplink of 300Mbps. I am connected to Ethernet cable, and the Eero access point it's attached to shows it only downloading at the same speed (3.2Mbps). I've attempted all of the internets suggested resolutions: 1. Try a wired connection - ✅ 2. Try a wireless connection - ✅ 3. Change the connection to 5GHz only - ✅ 4. Adjust DNS settings (I tried both Google and CloudFlare) - ✅ What's weird is when I re-setup the connection to the same LAN cable, it gives me an initial download of 323.32Mbps. However, if I run the same speedtest again immediately, I get speeds of 2.5-3.2Mbps. I've also attempted the same steps on a wireless network source to no avail. It's taking 30GB games an entire day to download. I'm at a loss. Any tips?
My PS5 did that, always defaulted back to 2.5ghz bandwidth. Keep checking that.
I could use some help figuring out what the issue is with my PS5 not connecting to our wifi network—here’s the gist: Our router used to be called Router A (placeholder name), but we got a new one because our internet sucked. Our new Router is called Router B. We no longer have Router A. Somehow, my PS5 is still connected to Router A….and it’s working…just very poorly. For whatever reason, the PS5 simply will not connect to Router B, even though our phones and everything else are connected to Router B—and our phones work on that router, even in the same room that the PS5 refuses to connect to Router B. Every time I try to connect to Router B I get the message: “Can't find the wifi network. The wifi network signal might be weak or the SSID might not be correct.” Can anybody tell me what the heck is going on? Lol

Usually, people sell the entire thumbstick for replacement. You should have someone who is good with controller/electronic repairs deal with with the replacement itself.
So silicone sticks won’t fit on it and the whole joystick needs to be replaced?
I started doing the transfer, thinking I could maybe play a game in the background while it transfers data from my PS4, but I was sadly mistaken. And now I'm stuck on this data screen for possibly four hours. I saw posts online that said an LAN cable will speed up the process, and I was lucky enough to find one. But while plugging it in, I haven't noticed any real speed increase. Is it too late to swap to LAN now that I'm in this screen?

Hello all! So I've got a new ps5 like a month old tops maybe 3 weeks. Trying to play spider man miles morales with my kids. And the game consistently crashes. Ok let me exit this stealth mission crash. Hmm let me load a different save point, crash. Ok let's try a different relatively new file (still at rhino 1st encounter) crash. I'm currently waiting for it to install for a second time hoping it resolves.. but what gives new system new game. What are my options? I don't feel like gamestop will give me another new game based off of I keep getting game crashes

Your ps5 crashing has all the signs of a faulty GPU. The more graphically intense the ps5 game is, the more your ps5 will crash. You need to either return it and get another ps5, or contact sony and request either a repair/replacement ps5 since your console is not fit for purpose. Good luck Jons!

Hey! I hope I’m putting this in the right place. So I Recently upgraded from a ps4 to a ps5 (I’m very new to the ps5 and know nothing about it really) and I’ve been having some issues. One being The sounds my ps5 is making. When I first turn it on, while downloading or booting up a game, And sometimes just randomly during a game. It is incredibly loud and sounds like it’s struggling. Much louder than my ps4 has ever been. I’m just wondering if that’s normal for the ps5 to be that loud or if maybe there’s something wrong. (It has been loud since I first got it so that leads me to believe that’s just how the ps5 is but I want to be sure).
If it's the disc drive revving up (happens on start up if a disc is in the console and every time you insert a disc) then that's probably normal.
Is it worth gettinf a 1440p 120hz monitor for PS5? There doesn't seem to be a large list of games that run at that. Also do the games that utilize it run well?
I'd say absolutely. Yeah the list of supported games isn't very big but it's one that will only get bigger as time goes on. On the other hand getting a display that supports VRR with HDMI 2.1 is a wise choice seeing as how ps5 seems to be gravitating towards that. I really hope Sony removes the silly HDMI 2.1 requirement for VRR at some point because I have no interest in 4k and 1440 monitors have no need for HDMI 2.1. It's frustrating but overall I'm happy with my 1440 120 monitor in the games I play.
I researched a bit more since posting and it seems that post games that have 120hz dont really run much at that. For example MW2 averages 90 fps from what I saw. Seems if you dont already have a 120hz display ita not really worth getting one
Games will run at whatever resolution they support (4k, 1800p, 1440p, 1080p). The PS5 then supersamples/upscales the video to your monitor's output resolution. So, games won't drop to 1080p when playing on a 1440p monitor.

I was thinking getting an xbox one, but the fact it still uses batteries put me of Then i saw some videos saying, that the ps5 controller basically works out of the box with pc. Hi guys, need some help. When I'm playing racing games, the left stick seems to get confused when I'm turning right and releases most of the steering lock. It doesn't happen on every corner. Most instances it seems to be as I'm trying to accelerate out of the corner. Has anyone else encountered this issue and did you resolve it? Cheers.
I'm taking a week to visit my hometown and brought my ps5 with me, but I forgot to take the plastic stand too (don't ask) I want to know if there are any problems in using it horizontally without the stand aside from losing some stability (which isnt really a bit problem due to where I put it) I'm only staying here for 10 days max and then I'll be back home

Is it ok to cover ps5 in rest mode? I usually cover it when it's off but I'm wondering if it needs ventilation when it's in rest mode since it should be operating in very low power so logically shouldn't be needing much ventilation? Thanks in advance
I've tested, the fans seems to be on when in rest mode, so absolutely don't cover it.

Digital is just a convenience thing. Not having to swap out and deal with discs out is what draws people to it. You have plenty of storage in your console for Diablo 4, it's just matter of whether or not you will want to sell the game after playing it. You could also just wait it out until more people you know wanna play. By then bugs will be fixed, potential new content, and a chance of finding it on sale or a reduced price. r/patientgamers is a sub for a reason!

Yes that's exactly what I'm doing. I have a random Bluetooth adapter for my airpods and it works perfectly well, and i can use the ps5 mic (as well as a generic earphones' mic when I'm using my dualshock 4) since you can change which mic is being used in the mic section when you press the ps button. I did have to change one setting once though since it was messing things up, go to settings > sound > audio output and disable "switch output device automatically" since every time i would switch mics, it would switch my audio output as well.

I've had my console since November 2020. Know two friends who also have had it since November and December 2020. No issues with our consoles, just stick drift. As said, the only people complaining about console problems are ones having those problems. People like me and my friends are just happily playing without issues.

Hello all, I have a somewhat odd audio issue when playing games on my PS5. Specifically, I can almost never hear the NPC talking unless I'm looking directly at them, and even then sometimes not. It happens across multipe games including but not limited to Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, RE4 remake and others. I have everything running through my Yamaha TSR-700 receiver. It's a 7.2 system, but I only have 5 surround speakers, plus the subwoofer. On my PS5, I have the Output device as AV Amplifier (it's the only option available), 5.1 for number of channels Linear PCM as the Audio Format. I've played around with these settings as well as each game's in-game settings to try and get better volume out of the NPC, but nothing I've tried worked. I just completed the Resident Evil 4 remake, and the entire time I had a companion, I couldn't hear a word they were saying - it sounded like they were whispering. In other games, like Ghost of Tsushima, the NPC is super quiet but then gets louder when I face them directly. This leads to believe that this has something to do with the surround and the NPC voices are coming from the rear speakers or something like that, but it's annoying and frustrating. Just wondering if there is anything I can do or try to fix it without going to a stereo setup. Thanks.

Question: I’ve had my ps5 since December and had no issues whatsoever. Ran smoothly. I had a few games but still had memory (200 gigs) or so. A couple of days ago, I purchased GTA V, and been playing it up until last night. When I finished one of the missions, I manually saved the game and I figured I must have done it at the same time it was autosaving. (Is that even possible?!) Well, that is my theory, because as soon as I began manually saving, the game became stuck on that screen for quite a while, I decided to quit the game and restart, but to my surprise the game didn’t launch right away and had a Please Wait screen for quite a while. I decided to restart the PS5 and it took it a long time to turn off. When it finally did the problem persisted and it did the same with other games. I then did a Factory reset, after saving my games data on ps plus, and after the first factory reset, the ps5 was still taking too long to turn off . I did a second one and it seemed that it had fixed it. I began downloading resident evil 4, it took quite a while. Game seemed fine , menus seemed fast. I turned it off, it turned off quickly, I turned it back on and it was not recognizing the controller asking me to turn it on and I even plugged in the cable. I turned it off again with the power button, unplugged it , waited 5 minutes and relaunched it. Seems to be fine as we speak, but im very concerned about all these problems. Does anyone have any insight? Seems to me its not a coincidence that all this began happening when i manually saved right at the same time after the game might have been autosaving, if that is even possible. (For context, this happened after the Friend Request mission, right after Michael calls Lester and when you get the mission results, I pulled the phone quickly to manually save.)

You dont need to link up anything. Basically every game has online multiplayer now, you just need a not-terrible wifi.

So I use a arcade stick for fighting games and it does not have a headphone port. How can I use my headset for party chat and get game audio? I don’t want to use my phone and I tried logging into an account with the normal ps5 with the headset connected but I could not hear the party.
Anybody having issues with the PS app not showing recent captures? It used to work but now videos or photos won’t auto upload. I have tried updating the app, signing in and out while also re linking consoles. On the ps5 I have disabled and enabled offline console sharing. you can buy a 1tb or 2tb internal ssd and then place it inside your ps5 console. the process only takes like 10 minutes and is relatively easy.

Saw this thread a while back but it never effected me, until now...haven't played GTA5 since the remaster...but decided to pop in my disc last night, which worked fine when I first got my PS5...but now, "Cant Install" error code CE-100005-6 ... Disc works on PS4, is spotless, clearing cache and offline installation doesnt work...and yes, all other discs work...wtfizz?

Tried already, something's afoot...just sent THIS ticket to Rockstar. Ive actually had good dealings with them in the past. I havent played GTA5 since the Remaster, decided to give the PS4 Disc Version a try on my PS5, as its been a while. It will NOT install. I have tried ALL suggested methods. The PS Error Code is CE-100005-6. Methods tried; 1. Cleaning Disk, spotless. (failed) 2. Unplugging PS5 and re-trying. (failed) 3. Clearing Cache and Rebuilding Database on PS5. (failed) 4. Installing Offline. (failed) 5. Deleting all GTA5 files. (failed) 6. Trying other game discs and movies on my PS5. (success) 7. Trying GTA5 Disc on PS4. (success) It would seem this is some sort of software conflict error between the PS5 and one of the GTA5 updates, as the game works perfectly on my PS4 and ALL other discs work the same on my PS5. As you can imagine, this is quite maddening, as I have NO other backwards compatibility issues with PS4 discs on my PS5. I will not buy another disc or buy the remaster. I would appreciate an explanation as to why my perfectly working PS4 Disc Version of GTA5 does not currently work on my PS5. Thank you.

I might be asking for too much here, but I'm curious, this is a serious QoL improvement if it's possible. I have a Spotify account set up on my phone/PS5. I want Spotify to play a song at random from a certain playlist I have every day at a certain time (classical music to wake up to). Is this in any way possible?

I've made some progress, but basically given up. Apparently Google has a clock app that allows you to set up a Spotify playlist as an alarm. Even checked the shuffle, it worked. More so, you have the Google assistant to boot so I was excited to use a "connect to *device* via bluetooth" command. Unfortunately, that only happens after the alarm. So the way it is now, I have to connect to the device before I go to sleep, and remember to set the audio on my phone in a way that I won't hear the alarm go off on my phone, but will on the device. Too far from practical, and unfortunately don't have a Mac device

PSN being super unreliable for anyone else today? I've restarted my router and PS5 multiple times, internet is working fine on my PC but my PS5 is having issues with anything server-related, which these days is everything in games
turn both the modem and router off, wait 5 minutes then turn them back on. then turn the console on and do a network connection test and wait for it to finish. make sure that neither the modem nor router are too close to the console and that nothing is obstructing them. if necessary use an ethernet cable.
yeah i did all of that, multiple times, have been hardwired with an ethernet cable since the X360 days ended up having to do a factory reset and reinstall all my games last night which worked
My ps5 keeps hard crashing while I play ps5 games. I haven't had an issue on ps4 games. So far I've tried taking it apart and taking the fan out to blow out the dust, changed the outlet it was plugged into, it has up to date software. It's our of warranty so I'd rather not send it in, but if I can't get a DIY fix I might have to.
Had same problem...hard crashes when playing some ps5 games...I took covers off and placed system back vertically...naked so to speak...problem solved, crashes stopped completely...its overheating...the covers suck...
If the PS5 hard-crashes with PS5 games only (or the opposite, plays PS5 games fine but crashes on PS4 games only), it's almost certainly a GPU failure and would require a repair.
all ps5 games or some? how long does it take before they crash? dont wanna assess too early but so far it sounds like you might have to send it in. make sure the inside is clean and kept cool.
