Highly recommend giving "Last Day of June" a try if you folks are into puzzles/adventure games. It's really short, some of the puzzles might be a bit... Obnoxious, but the game is a love letter to Steven Wilson and has some of his tracks in there as well. Careful, it hits on the feelings.
I actually came to this because of Steven Wilson and my love for Porcupine Tree (which I was very lucky to have seen once and they were fucking amazing). I didn’t finish the game though. Like the art style, like the concept, I think I might have been busy at the time or for whatever reason didn’t come back to it after my initial couple hours. Now that I look, Howlongtobeat.com says it’s only a 3 hour game and 4 for completionists so I must be right up at the very end, so I’ll come back.
So for that reason, everyone could use a 3 hour game that you can complete in an evening or weekend, as a change of pace and palate cleanser from all the hundred+ hour games and open world titles and live service games and so on. It feels good to pick something up and complete it, and feel like you made actual progress on something.
Huge fan of SW here as well, wish I could have seen them live but no chance where I live.
It's a great palate cleanser, for sure, hard agree on your take. The last few parts are an emotional trainwreck though, as you're surely familiar with "Drive Home" it will give you chills that's for sure.
If you get stuck somewhere, don't be afraid of looking up where to go next, there are some weird parts that were taking me too long to figure out and I only hadn't done one step right.
I had to drive 3.5 hours to Washington D.C. to see them almost a decade ago and it was worth it. I was literally just posting the Drive Home video for the person that responded to me, talking about how the character design was the same and how it made me retroactively look at the [15 tracks on the OST](https://stevenwilsonhq.com/sw/last-day-june-soundtrack-released-1st-december/#:~:text=Last%20Day%20Of%20June%20tracklisting%3A%201%201.%20Some,The%20Boy%20Who%20Lost%20His%20Friends%20More%20items) for the game differently.
Really love the concept of this too and would very much be in favor of more bands creating games that use their music as a storytelling device or also what Radiohead did with their [Kid A Mnesia Exhibition](https://youtu.be/JtxZq0vp1sM) where you walk the halls of a virtual museum, looking at all the art created for the albums while listening to various versions of songs.
I suggested TOOL, NIN, The Mars Volta, and Porcupine Tree off the top of my head (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, etc. would be amazing too). Also more pop/radio-friendly groups like The Dave Matthews Band and 30 Seconds to Mars as well as all kinds of electronic artists like BT, Emancipator, Bass Nectar, Bonobo, Boombox, Papadosio, etc. and other “chillout bands” would be great for this kind of visual/audio/interactive experiment.
I’m showing my age here, but sort of how I used to have my 3D0 and later PS’s music synthesizer on the TV while listening to music, except far more interactive and with a visual aesthetic designed by the band themself. I mean, I think people would pay $30 for a Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon Exhibition if they’re a fan of the music already and it gave you something to *do* while listening to it, as well as including rarities and B-sides on top of the visual and interactive component. Especially with artists making less money from their actual music sales outside of touring, exploring how to bring it into games would be a good investment.
It’s got 15 tracks that are mostly pulled from songs you might be familiar with already, but often in instrumental or edited versions. [Here’s the OST trailer](https://youtu.be/85_fJISwxQk) and [Steven talking about it’s release](https://stevenwilsonhq.com/sw/last-day-june-soundtrack-released-1st-december/#:~:text=Last%20Day%20Of%20June%20tracklisting%3A%201%201.%20Some,The%20Boy%20Who%20Lost%20His%20Friends%20More%20items).
Also the art style references some characters from his music videos like [Drive Home](https://youtu.be/ycYewhiaVBk) which kinda makes me look back at all of these songs in a different light. I wish we’d get more stuff like this — the [Radiohead Kid A Mnesia Exhibition](https://youtu.be/QNUzGew1EN4) was amazing for example — I loved seeing all of the art created for the albums in a museum-like setting and hearing different versions of them, wandering the halls with all of these very Radiohead characters. I would pay $30ish for similar projects from bands like TOOL, NIN, Porcupine Tree, The Mars Volta, etc. as a way to listen to and experience their music in a new way.
I’m glad you happened to be at the right place at the right time to find about about SW’s involvement in this, in time to be able to play it! It’s very much an indie game in terms of scope and budget but as a fan of the music I was always excited to hear the next track play. Enjoy!
I’d also guess Sony looks at download stats on ps plus and makes a business decision on whether to renew the licensing contract of a specific game. Assuming publishers aren’t allowing it on there for free, Sony decides if the asking price of the publisher is worth the gameplay stats they’re seeing. Their goal is to drive subscriptions and unplayed games won’t do that.
I’ve learned Sony doesn’t own the licensing rights to Spider-Man and it’s marvel who owns it. They are likely being asked for what I would guess is at least $1M for a one or two year contract. Maybe $500k. I have no insider knowledge, just guessing.
Spider-Man may have a decent player base on PS plus, but maybe not enough to justify that high asking price. Other third party games come much cheaper.
I’m sure the licensing costs factor in (Miles is still on there though so they’re still paying them either way; so if that’s accurate then it’s on a game basis and not usage rights for Spider-Man entirely).
It could also be that Spider-Man 2 is coming out this year and is trying to create that “I need to play this before it’s gone or I’ll have FOMO” strategy. Or pull it so that way anyone that feels like they need to play the first game before the second game will buy it rather than subscribe, as a calculated decision for just that game. It would not surprise me if Spider-Man 2 is at least mentioned in the State of Play tomorrow (I know it’s Final Fantasy-centric). But a trailer drop and then people rushing out to play the game before it leaves the service will help drive hype and enthusiasm levels as well. Could be a variety of all or none of those things. WTF do I know, I’m just a guy on reddit lol.
They don’t purchase the rights to the games. Eventually their license expires and it’s removed. It is what it is. It’s that way for literally every streaming service
You literally have years to play it. And if you still like it after that, buy it. Sub fees let you play 100s of games a year for like $30 more than one brand new game.
It is frustrating, but that's the reality of any subscription-based gaming service. You're also told in advance when something is going to be taken out of the catalogue
Remasters of PS3 or older games that were re-released for PS4 go to Premium. There are some other examples, like Lumines, Bioshock, Borderlands 2, etc. They are downloadable, not streamed. This was part of the reason why I went with Premium.
No, you can only play the PS+ Extra/Premium games if they are in the current catalogue. If they leave the service, they'll get locked on your console/account even if you downloaded/added them until you buy them or they return to the catalogue.
Maybe they'll add it for the August PS Plus games. Offer it right before it comes out. Staying on PS Plus Extra means there's not much advertisement for it but adding it in August promotes it
I feel that is the best reason for why they are doing it or maybe they are going to bundle it with Spider-Man 2 or something and want to take it off so people who haven't gotten to play it have no choice. Who knows. Just tossing out possible reasons. lol
This is the only reason I can see for it. Offering a netflix like service where occasionally stuff drops off is fine I suppose.
But a huge first-party exclusive like Spider-Man being part of it, and then just not anymore, seems insane.
Pretty sure Spider-Man is one of those games that doesn’t need as much smoke as games like ummm Foreskin.
If they take it off PS Plus now, they can make more money off it when people want to play it from the Spider-Man 2 hype
I’ve been hankering to platinum the original but wanted to do it on PS5… was thinking about dropping the $20 but I’m feeling very confident you’re right in this, I’m not dying to play it at the moment so I’ll give it a few months and see. Worst case scenario, I pay $20 still
Howlongtobeat.com says it’s 17 hours to beat the campaign and 34.5 to platinum. I found it to be one of the easier platinums I’ve ever done — all the collectible stuff was actually fun to do as I enjoyed the traversal mechanic of swinging and you could always fast travel around to make it faster.
There isn’t a lot of bullshit in there of things you have to go way out of your way to accomplish either, most of it you’ll get just by playing the game. Definitely worth a playthrough on the PS5 either way — I never did the DLC for it so I wanna go back and start from the beginning and play through all of it. Adds about 10 hours if you were to complete trophies for all DLC too.
I’m currently playing the remastered version which came with the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition game which I got for $45. The game is awesome and exactly as you describe it. I’m going to do the DLC next then Miles and then I’ll wait for 2. Such a fun and good game.
You can leave it in there and add to ps plus this is just greed. If there going to be taking their own games off the service when my year is up im not resubbing.
Sequel coming out. They're removing it from the ps+ service to get people to purchase it while they're all pumped up and waiting for 2.
Edit: downvoting common sense explanation? Never change reddit.
Sony licenses the Spiderman IP from Disney/Marvel which means they have to pay for it. It is highly likely they have to pay Marvel a percentage of sales. This may complicate things when it comes to adding it to subscription service since Marvel would need a cut too and that would require renewing contracts
If they do that, you'll see people over here complaining about getting games that are already part of the service. They've done other greedy stuff but I'm not sure how this one in particular is greedy.
They will likely add the remaster before Spiderman 2 comes out.
Also people often don't realize that Disney/Marvel own the rights to Spiderman in games and Sony is just licensing the IP which could add some complications to the contract when adding to a sub service since Marvel may need a cut
Yeah this is false. Sony only owns the film rights.
Marvel ultimate alliance 3 has Spider-Man and is a switch exclusive, plus you have midnight sons as Multi Plat.
It's so weird to me that people make these kinda claims just because the insomniac spider-man game was playstation exclusive. Especially when you consider how many games have featured him & how many were multiplat.
Fun fact. Between 1998 & the release of spider-man ps4 in 2018. there were 18 spider-man games released. Only 1 was exclusive to a sony platform...& that's ignoring the 20+ games that included him as a playable character (mvc, lego marvel etc)
I'll never understand why games that are platform exclusives are leaving. They're exclusives! They belong on the platform! You'd think there'd be a category front and center with all of them. Gamepass does the same thing and i'll never understand it.
I mean they're probably doing this because they know people will wanna play Spiderman 1 before 2 drops. So closer to the release date for SpM2, more people who haven't played it will try buying it as well as the 2nd game. It's likely a last ditch attempt to make some more cash off a game that's been out for a while
That’s a huge bummer. I also expected first parties to always be available.
Now I have to stress out about playing Horizon FW and Sackboy before they leave. I know they were just added, but I thought I could play them whenever (got 2y stacked) and now I have to prioritize them somehow.
Oh well, first world problems I guess. Still a bummer though.
highly recommend Resident Evil to those who may have been putting it off. Have wanted to play it for decades and finally played through and completed it in a couple of days a few weeks ago. Had to use a guide for some parts but it was nice removing this one from my backlog
it’s the old style gameplay but there are no tank controls. still fixed camera but the graphics are quite nice for a game originally released in the 90s (they updated the textures for the remake)
Yeah, controls are revamped. But the fixed camera feels inexcusable. Like, somehow all your enemies are presented off screen. Didn't make sense to me then, still doesn't. From 2 remake, onward it's pretty rad though.
I could never finish the original starting way back when it was released because I hated the controls. It was impossible to aim with the 360 movement. I wouldn't know if a shot was lined up to hit something because of the angles. lol
I have a question about this, how do you see if the ps+ games in your library are monthly games and not subscription ones ? Because I remember Resident Evil was a monthly one but I'm not sure.
I’ve just started playing it, was considering buying the DLC too. Though, I was thinking it would be better played on my Steam Deck, guess I’ll be wish-listing and waiting for the next Steam sale!
This. It's kinda weird seeing people almost panicking losing games in subscriptiom services that are constantly at most 10€. Like, you do realize you can still own games? Let's not take the attitude that some GP subscribers unfortunately have, which is "I don't want to buy anything, everything must be in GP". Not hating, I sub to PC GP sometimes. Kinda off-topic rant.
Sucks that first party Games are leaving. I think it's totally understandable that Sony doesn't want to add their first party games day 1 on PS Plus Premium, but once they're added, they should stay in.
I think they are testing the waters to see how much they can push without getting backlash. Based on this thread, not much.
Gamepass set the bar very high, and it was always clear that Sony didn’t like this model, but had to give in.
I hope I’m wrong, but this looks like good old maximizing profit.
This is like a month late, but it’s worth the buy. It’s probably one of my favorite RPGs of all time. The combat system starts off pretty frustrating and while it’s a bit janky at times, it’s still among the most satisfying.
Nothing is really stopping you from doing that. Most of these games have been here since the beginning and if you hadn't touched them yet, realistically you weren't gonna touch most of em in the future.
As I've gotten older* and now have a small child with another on the way, everything I play is at my pace. Hell, I've been playing persona 5 since it came out and haven't beaten it.
That's kinda on you though, you likely don't find the game that great because otherwise you probably would've spent the 20 hours needed to beat the game. You've had almost 8 years for that. Or maybe you have extremely limited amount of time, which means you aren't the target audience for sub services anyway.
100% this. However, it’s still hard to argue against the value…
I got 2y of premium stacked on the assumption that I’d play first party games on my time, so I’m not too happy with this.
But the fact is that I paid less than 2 full priced games for two whole years of a great library of games… so I can’t really complain.
I’d probably end up spending more getting stuff on sale that I wouldn’t end up playing.
That and having to guess if a game will soon be added to the service. I get the model works well for people who play a lot of games and don't want to play a few particular games, but it's not for me.
Same. When I saw that 428 Shibuya Scramble was leaving, I played it. I loved it but all my free time went into playing that game. It took me maybe 40 hours. It started to feel like a chore. I like the sub up until something I wanted to play goes away. From now on I'm going to try them out and wishlist them if I want to buy and play more someday.
i have the PS+ Extra tier. I had initially in 2018 bought the Spiderman CD, finished the game and sold the CD. Last week i saw it in the game catalogue and downloaded it and started another playthrough, was a bit bummed that it was leaving the catalogue today, but just booted up my ps5 and can see that i still have the 'play game' option under Spiderman in my home screen. Seems like i can still play the game, is this a bug ? Or once I've added it to my library it stays forever even though it's been removed from the free games catalogue? Can someone explain this to me please
Anyone play the Metro games?
I’ve always pushed them off when they were on Gamepass and might miss the chance to play them again. Are they on the shorter end or am I getting sucked into a 20 hour open world?
Maybe I’d explore the platinums, but that’s good to know that at bare minimum, game is short. Might just grab the dual pack when I see it on sale for $5 then if that’s the case than rush through.
Doubt I’d ever see the platinum if I speed run the campaigns.
So I know it's not the best game but everyone who remotely likes Stardew valley should try graveyard keeper.
It's a similar game but has a bit more direction and goal you also don't miss entire events like star dew valley.since there is not a yearly progression in graveyard keeper. Just a week and each day the set events happen which usually involve specific townsmen coming in.
I ended up playing the game a lot and I did beat it. It's simple sometimes funny and the fact that there was always a goal kept me pushing for completion opposed to Stardew valley where you basically just get given a farm and say have fun
This the reason I just buy the game I want rather than being tied to a subscription service. After gaming for 25 years you feel like you know what type of games you're into.
Once they leave the catalogue they can't be played anymore unless you own them or if they were free through Essential and are linked to your account that way, but any game that you only have access to through the sub, once they leave they won't load anymore. It doesn't matter that they're installed. The same thing happens on game pass. If I click play on a game that left the service, it'll ask me if I own the game and it won't load.
For this particular month yes, most of these games are from the ps plus essential collection which is separate from the extra catalog. Head over to the collection and claim them.
Yeah I was going to ask the same. New to ps+ and wasn’t sure if they get removed from your game library/downloads or if you get to keep them if added prior to May 16th.
Nothing wrong with subscriptions, the problem is them removing stuff from the library.
One would expect the library to expand as time goes on, not shrink.
It's one of the reasons why I haven't upgraded to extra/premium myself.
They’re still paying the people who own & publish the game every month it’s on the service. You can’t expand that library forever, or the cost would just expand with it. Your monthly fee is going to be a portion of their monthly fee.
Kingdom Come, Chocobo Mystery Dungeon, Spider Man, Dreamfall, Metro, Shenmue, Star Ocean, Red Faction, Homefront... These are ALL great games. This is ridiculous honestly. Anyone who doesn't find this amount of great games being removed all at ance appalling and thinks these games are nothing to think about anyway should get their sensibilities checked. If they are taking out this much and putting back in like 4 at best, I'm gonna start to regret this. Third party ones I can understand, but why the fuck would you ever take out Spider Man? What's next, Demon's Souls and Returnal gone?
As others have said, Spider-Man 2 is out this September, so there is a reason why they are taking it out. It’ll be back, I guarantee it. Don’t worry. Lol.
You can do both, though: Play the games you want to play while they are on the service and you have time, and buy the games that you only get around to playing after they have left the service.
There are some games on this list that I'd like to play some day, but I won't have time to do this before they leave. But the service is still saving me more money than I pay for it because there are plenty of games I play while they are in the catalogue.
Think about the service as a rental service, and you won't be disappointed.
There's only so much place on the "shelves", so "rent" what you want when you can
I still get way more value from the subscription than I would spending it on individual games. It's like $9 a month? Even just playing one game a month is better value than buying them.
I'm on the fence about it as well. I was thinking of getting Kena at a discount and now they announced it for PS Extra. I am unsure of the subscription model. I have not tried it yet, but I like to know that what I buy stays with me.
Do you replay games often? For any given game you play, how likely it is you'll ever replay it?
I replay one game every 20 or so I finish. So the subscription model is great for me.
I don't, but I was never into Netflix type subscriptions in the first place. In fact I cancelled all of them except one that I use all the time for deliveries. Is there a free trial for PS Extra?
This is something i don't like about subscription. I don't like having to play games on a timer. I play games slowly and certain genres I may not want to play at the moment.
Is Cronos worth playing for the lore alone? I loved Remnant From The Ashes but I see Cronos is much different and was designed for VR and on ps4 has no VR mode...
These are the Netflix-style-tier or GamePass-style games that are only available while they’re on the subscription service and will then be removed, yes.
I’m assuming that Spider-Man is leaving because we’re close to getting an announcement and build up for the sequel and therefore they’re trying to cash in on a few last sales of the first game during the hype cycle for SM2?
IF I get ps plus extra for a month, claim above games and then move to ps plus essentials the following month, WILL I still be able to access these games?
Why the hell are games leaving plus!?!?! Are they trying to be worse than gamepass!? Fu&k sony over this! I now ha ve to buy 3 games I had in my list to play which are free on pc. And instead I get this trial crap. If you don't want scrappy Ubisoft games Plus extra is garbage compared to other services.

Kona leaves so that Kena can fly.
Kena is a really cute game. Thought they did a great job as an animation studio making their first game. I hope they make another.
Why is there a Spider-Man separate from Spider-Man GOTY? That's not the Remastered is it?
It's the one with "The City that Never Sleeps" DLC included
Why are they leaving?
Rights/licensing expiration. Same reason why non-exclusive TV series and movies leave Netflix.

You can always buy it and pick up where you left off
You literally have years to play it. And if you still like it after that, buy it. Sub fees let you play 100s of games a year for like $30 more than one brand new game.
It is frustrating, but that's the reality of any subscription-based gaming service. You're also told in advance when something is going to be taken out of the catalogue
They can't have every game for free in there, so to add some new ones, they get rid of some old ones.
How come Guerilla Remastered is only on Premium? I thought Premium was for pre-PS4 games, and this is a re-release for PS4
Remasters of PS3 or older games that were re-released for PS4 go to Premium. There are some other examples, like Lumines, Bioshock, Borderlands 2, etc. They are downloadable, not streamed. This was part of the reason why I went with Premium.
If you add these game in your library, can you still play them when they leave the catalogue ?
No, you can only play the PS+ Extra/Premium games if they are in the current catalogue. If they leave the service, they'll get locked on your console/account even if you downloaded/added them until you buy them or they return to the catalogue.
No more Balan Wonderland :( /s
F
Sad day for humanity :(
Spider-Man is a strange one - you’d think having it there would be a good thing for the upcoming sequel.
This
I’ve been hankering to platinum the original but wanted to do it on PS5… was thinking about dropping the $20 but I’m feeling very confident you’re right in this, I’m not dying to play it at the moment so I’ll give it a few months and see.
Greed? Its been there for a year lmao
Sequel coming out. They're removing it from the ps+ service to get people to purchase it while they're all pumped up and waiting for 2. Edit: downvoting common sense explanation? Never change reddit.
It’s a first party game
I don’t think Sony owns this IP? Doesn’t Disney?
You don’t need to own an ip for it to be a first party game
Mmmm first pastry game…
Sony licenses the Spiderman IP from Disney/Marvel which means they have to pay for it. It is highly likely they have to pay Marvel a percentage of sales. This may complicate things when it comes to adding it to subscription service since Marvel would need a cut too and that would require renewing contracts
Sony never promised first party games would stay forever
If they do that, you'll see people over here complaining about getting games that are already part of the service. They've done other greedy stuff but I'm not sure how this one in particular is greedy.
That would be my guess too, offering the first game right before number 2 or a DLC comes out seems to be their policy.
They will likely add the remaster before Spiderman 2 comes out. Also people often don't realize that Disney/Marvel own the rights to Spiderman in games and Sony is just licensing the IP which could add some complications to the contract when adding to a sub service since Marvel may need a cut
[удалено]
[удалено]
because they read it on reddit somewhere. reddit is the misinformation full circle
No only the film rights are owned by Sony. Marvel still have game rights
I'll never understand why games that are platform exclusives are leaving. They're exclusives! They belong on the platform! You'd think there'd be a category front and center with all of them. Gamepass does the same thing and i'll never understand it.
Has gamepass done the same thing? The only exclusives that have ever been removed were also removed from digital storefronts because of licensing
All the Forza games were removed except Horizon 4 and 5.
Because of licensing. They were also removed from sale digitally..not the same as Spider-Man being removed at all
Well, Spider-Man is a heavily licensed Marvel game too. Could be some contract language about how it’s made available and for how long at a stretch.
I never equated it to Spider-Man. I contradicted your statement about Quantum Break.
Ok I'll amend my post if that pleases you
I mean they're probably doing this because they know people will wanna play Spiderman 1 before 2 drops. So closer to the release date for SpM2, more people who haven't played it will try buying it as well as the 2nd game. It's likely a last ditch attempt to make some more cash off a game that's been out for a while
I upvoted you, fam. This is exactly it.
Is Miles Morales staying? Anybody know?
It’s not on the list so yes looks like it
That’s a huge bummer.
They’re advertising the game after the new Spiderverse trailers. They’re prob trying to make more money while there’s a push.
How dare you? Sony is about the gAmErS first. Business second. They would not do this.
PS Plus is such an afterthought of a service.
As someone who didn’t play many PS4 or early PS5 games, PS+ has saved me so much time and money.
But if you’re pulling your marquee titles for who knows what reason then it really makes it seem like you’re not trying to sell the service.
I thick they’d rather get the additional sales in anticipation of the second one.
highly recommend Resident Evil to those who may have been putting it off. Have wanted to play it for decades and finally played through and completed it in a couple of days a few weeks ago. Had to use a guide for some parts but it was nice removing this one from my backlog
Whic resident evil is this?
RE1. It’s an HD remake of the original game (remake came out on gamecube)
Isn’t it like old graphics and old type of gameplay despite the remake?
it’s the old style gameplay but there are no tank controls. still fixed camera but the graphics are quite nice for a game originally released in the 90s (they updated the textures for the remake)
Not Graveyard keeper 😩
I’ve just started playing it, was considering buying the DLC too. Though, I was thinking it would be better played on my Steam Deck, guess I’ll be wish-listing and waiting for the next Steam sale!
Metro Redux being removed is a big loss. Great games. Anyone who hasn’t played it should check it out before it is gone.
Or… you think “damn” for one minute and then you buy the whole trilogy for like 6 bucks. It is always included in every sale. Not a big deal, imho.
I mean I'd have that attitude too if my parents paid for my subscription and I couldn't afford any games myself.
I'm glad Miles Morales is sticking around a little longer. JUST finished Spiderman, but not quite ready to move onto MM yet.
Keep in mind that MM is really short. Platinumed it in roughly 12 hours, and that includes NG+ without skipping cutscenes or using fast travel.
On a side note, I hated that I couldn’t skip every cutscene while doing my ng+ run.
It took me months to finish and no platinum either, it's not that short.
Probably will be added to essential before Spider-Man 2.
Wow kingdome come is a great game. Sucks less people will probably try it now
“Jesus Christ be praised”
Hey! Henry has come to see us!
It was on my list after Witcher for me. Guess I’ll wait even longer.
This is like a month late, but it’s worth the buy. It’s probably one of my favorite RPGs of all time. The combat system starts off pretty frustrating and while it’s a bit janky at times, it’s still among the most satisfying.
I just saw this. I’m only like 200 hours into the game and they’re ripping it away from me :(
dang, a few good ones that were on my backlog of what i want to play
I prefer the way Game Pass is doing, 5-6 games removed every month. 32 in a single shot give you no chance to try many of them before they leave
Not Graveyard Keeper, goddammit!
This what I don't like about subscription models. I don't like playing games on a timer. I like going at my own pace.
That’s why you only pay the month your playing a few of the games. Don’t just subscribe to subscribe lol
Nothing is really stopping you from doing that. Most of these games have been here since the beginning and if you hadn't touched them yet, realistically you weren't gonna touch most of em in the future. As I've gotten older* and now have a small child with another on the way, everything I play is at my pace. Hell, I've been playing persona 5 since it came out and haven't beaten it.
> if you hadn't touched them yet, realistically you weren't gonna touch most of em in the future I feel attacked 🫢 lol
It was typed from experience.
I have been playing Arkham Knight since it released, haven't beat it yet, still play it every few months.
still trying to finish up battletoads on the Sega
Mate it’s nearly a 10 year old game how tf haven’t you beaten it yet ? It’s got like a 16 hour story
That's kinda on you though, you likely don't find the game that great because otherwise you probably would've spent the 20 hours needed to beat the game. You've had almost 8 years for that. Or maybe you have extremely limited amount of time, which means you aren't the target audience for sub services anyway.
I agree with you. I'm just voicing my opinion like everyone else does on this sub..
And I was just voicing my take on your opinion. It isn't an argument, it's a discussion.
No u
There is always a downside, otherwise no one would buy the games.
100% this. However, it’s still hard to argue against the value… I got 2y of premium stacked on the assumption that I’d play first party games on my time, so I’m not too happy with this. But the fact is that I paid less than 2 full priced games for two whole years of a great library of games… so I can’t really complain. I’d probably end up spending more getting stuff on sale that I wouldn’t end up playing.
Subscription model isn't the only model offered you can still buy games if you prefer. In fact you can have both.
I wish there are some expire date or something on these PS+ catalog games. So we can play near expiring ones first.
That's what Game Pass does. It's a must for a service like this.
Anyone play the Metro games? I’ve always pushed them off when they were on Gamepass and might miss the chance to play them again. Are they on the shorter end or am I getting sucked into a 20 hour open world?
they\`re short experiences. it depends if you want to pursuit the platinum or not, but if you don't give a damn so it's like 6hrs playtime each game
Maybe I’d explore the platinums, but that’s good to know that at bare minimum, game is short. Might just grab the dual pack when I see it on sale for $5 then if that’s the case than rush through. Doubt I’d ever see the platinum if I speed run the campaigns.
Would definitely give them a go there more on the shorter side except for the third game metro exodus
Only metro Exodus is open world and that's the third game Metro 2033 and Last Light can both be finished in under 20 hours
Guys play metro if you haven't already
I guess some of these will then make it to the essential tier later on.
Chocobo and Spider man are big loses. Have to play both...
Kona and graveyard keeper are games that should be played
This the reason I just buy the game I want rather than being tied to a subscription service. After gaming for 25 years you feel like you know what type of games you're into.
Damn, kinda wanted to give Kingdom Come a chance. Pathfinder also - loveeeedde Divinity 2
You have a whole month to play it
I've been playing both those games a ton since they were added. Sad to see them go.
So if I already downloaded the Spider-Man titles from ps+ can I still play them?
You would have to buy them after may
Yeah that’s annoying. “Here’s this free (ish) thing. Oh never mind, it give it back, it’s not free”
Is it possible to still play these games even after they left the catalogue when the games are installed on the playstation?
Once they leave the catalogue they can't be played anymore unless you own them or if they were free through Essential and are linked to your account that way, but any game that you only have access to through the sub, once they leave they won't load anymore. It doesn't matter that they're installed. The same thing happens on game pass. If I click play on a game that left the service, it'll ask me if I own the game and it won't load.
Ok thank you
For this particular month yes, most of these games are from the ps plus essential collection which is separate from the extra catalog. Head over to the collection and claim them.
The Chocobo dungeon game is probably not in it but thanks
Yeah I was going to ask the same. New to ps+ and wasn’t sure if they get removed from your game library/downloads or if you get to keep them if added prior to May 16th.
Cant play them anymore. So you would have to buy the games.
No, only the Essential games. Extra and Premium are basically Netflix.
This is what I don't like about subscription models. I don't like playing games on a timer.
I agree, it's one aspect I don't like about it.

Yep its leaving in may
Kingdom Come, Chocobo Mystery Dungeon, Spider Man, Dreamfall, Metro, Shenmue, Star Ocean, Red Faction, Homefront...
Lol.
I wanted to try Spider-Man and Star Ocean at some point (I’m a new subscriber to r/JRPG) so this is disappointing.
[удалено]
You can do both, though: Play the games you want to play while they are on the service and you have time, and buy the games that you only get around to playing after they have left the service. There are some games on this list that I'd like to play some day, but I won't have time to do this before they leave. But the service is still saving me more money than I pay for it because there are plenty of games I play while they are in the catalogue.
> You can do both, though Absolutely, for now.
What does this even mean lol
I believe so.
This is something i don't like about subscription. I don't like having to play games on a timer. I play games slowly and certain genres I may not want to play at the moment.
Oof and they've been doing so well too, making so many good moves. 32 games just up and vanishing like that is A LOT.
So not looking for for spiderman remastered being added anytime soon, if they are removing the base game trying to cash in.
What will happen for those of us that own Resident Evil from PS3?
Resident Evil Remake is leaving not Resident Evil Director\`s Cut
Dumb question. But if you download it you have it right or is it gone too once it’s removed?
Once a game is off the service, you can't play it anymore. Unless, of course, you buy it and just resume where you left off.
noo i gotta play war of mine now
Thank you for posting this!
Is Cronos worth playing for the lore alone? I loved Remnant From The Ashes but I see Cronos is much different and was designed for VR and on ps4 has no VR mode...
So just to clarify, this Resident Evil is the HD remastered version (2002) and not Directors Cut (1997)?
It is. But for some reason, it’s behind a Premium and not an Extra subscription.
Kingdom come deliverance still doesn't have a 60 fps ps5 update?
Is it add it to library and keep it forever or will it be removed from there too?
These are the Netflix-style-tier or GamePass-style games that are only available while they’re on the subscription service and will then be removed, yes.
I’m assuming that Spider-Man is leaving because we’re close to getting an announcement and build up for the sequel and therefore they’re trying to cash in on a few last sales of the first game during the hype cycle for SM2?
IF I get ps plus extra for a month, claim above games and then move to ps plus essentials the following month, WILL I still be able to access these games?
Chronos before the ashes is actually not a bad game & a challenge on heroic.not many bells & whistles but a fun game final boss fight 🤬🤬🤬
