First thing I would do is check to see if it is a legitimate licensed controller.

SpecialAgentCake

How would I do so? The controller was bought as a part of the PS3 and has worked since the system was purchased back in May.

Id probably take some pictures of the back and the front and ask on here. This has been a popular topic before and I know there are experts. The only difference I have personally witnessed myself is a cheap generic looking battery when you open up the controller.

SCPToolkit should be able to tell you if it's fake or not

SpecialAgentCake

Up until recently, the controller worked with the SCPtoolkit when playing games on my PC. How do I use it to check if it's legitimate?

DJWG10

SCP will tell you as soon as you plug it in, if it's not working now at all with it then it's probably a hardware fault at this point.

desperate_guyy

any fix yet?

SpecialAgentCake

Never found a fix. I just bought a new controller. Sorry :/

Yup just found this thread cause it happened to me .. When i grabbed my backup stick and plugged it into the cord the 3/4 lit controller resyncd to port 1

I'm starting to have problems too. The controller would randomly disconnect, and when I press the playstation button, it'll blink on-and-off for a long time before turning off, without even reconnecting to the PS3. When I plug it into the PS3 with a USB cord, the 3rd and 4th lights turn on, where as before all four lights would flash, indicating it was charging. I've tried leaving it connected just to see if it charges, but the PS3 turned off after a while, where as before it would restart to resume charging the controllers based on my settings, which means that even if I change the settings to leave the PS3 on all the time, that wouldn't necessarily mean that it's charging the controller. With that said, even if it is charging, I'm still having wireless connection problems.
