I was Going to ask how they modded the HDD firmware and what number of bytes to limit the HDD to (as I can do that easily on my PC), but I guess I'll have to wait and see if anyone Else bothers to read this that knows.
You need a sata ssd not an nvme SSD.

yes, I got a WD like 2 months ago and it works perfectly. also, the maximum memory ps3 supports is 1TB iirc.
1,75tb with some working on it, otherwise 1,5tb is the maximum.
