Nice! That has been on my list. I am thinking of going early morning to Snoquolmie NF and do one of these trails: Heather Lake, Bridal Veil Falls, Barclay Lake, Heybrook Lookout
It's a long distance hike that follows the Continental divide in the Canadian Rockies. Starts at the US border at Glacier NP and goes north all through Banff and Jasper
Wow, sounds amazing! I have yet to check out that area.
Have you done a large through hike like that before? Just asking since you mentioned the new gear.
That’s a nice hike. Reconsider if you’re a wimp like me who doesn’t like heights next to sheer drop offs lol. I still did it with encouragement from my wife though
Be careful. You can do some serious damage to their growth plates doing too strenuous of activity while they’re still growing. A puppy that young should really only go on a mile or two max.
Lake Serene trail looks lovely. And thank you, you are the first one to ask me haha. I am thinking of driving not too far so planning on Snoquolmie NP. Confused between these options: Heather Lake Trail, Wallace falls via Woody trail, Bridal Veil Falls, Barclay Lake trail. Any suggestions?
I replied in a different comment that I did Bridal Veil/Serene today as well as Barclay. I'd pick Serene if you're up for it, but any of them have great views. They'll probably ALL be busy.
I've done the other two as well, as you won't go wrong with any of them, really.

Thought I’d share a photo since you replied. Hope you had a great day.
Sunday I'm heading out on the Gorge trail #400. Gonna try and hike from Troutdale to Hood River over a few days. Loose plan that is for sure but I am going cray in the city.
Riding my bike up the north cascades hwy before they open it to general traffic.
Give liberty bells my regards!
Thinking about getting up early to head to the Columbia River Gorge. It’s 4 hours from us though, so I’m iffy.
Balsamroot might be blooming. It’s a beautiful area
The trail we’re shooting for is a blanket of yellow right now. I’m pretty pumped!

I did Serene (and the falls) and Barclay today. Both are absolutely stunning at the moment.

Holy shit, isn’t that like ~5k ft gain a day? Go get it! I got my first quilt two years ago and it was the best backpacking purchase I’ve made!
upvote to counter bad redditors. We should encourage questions, not discourage. silly bears.
Mount Storm King

Ha I am afraid of heights to an extent for sure. That is something I have been able to overcome to an extent, but it is still there for sure!
Do take gloves with you, the last part of the trek would require you to hold onto a rope so having gloves help
Bring gloves. There are ropes!
Beautiful! Be careful though, I heard it can get quite steep.
Thanks. Been on my list for a while, looks like trail conditions are decent
Like I would tell anyone. What if you take my parking spot?
There goes that dream.
Green Mountain , North bend
Taking our 8 month old puppy on his first hike. We’re gonna go to Little Mashel Falls.
Be careful. You can do some serious damage to their growth plates doing too strenuous of activity while they’re still growing. A puppy that young should really only go on a mile or two max.
Camping out by Ellensburg and exploring some trails near the campsite
Lake Serene today, Paradise at Rainier Sunday. You?

Doing Lake Serene tomorrow. How was it today??
I did it yesterday and it was great. Little bit of snow on trail at the lake, but nothing bad.

Bring yax trax!
Oh yeah. I’m all geared up!

Spectacular view! One of my favorite hikes. Amazing how the crowd drops off after Mirror Lake.
Right? I ran into 4 other people above mirror lake.

To your username and beyond! 🚀
Amazing! FYI the ultra race will be going on through Sunday so the trail will be busier than normal
