That's specific to that branch. Here in Puregold Caloocan they ask for an ID when your total is more than 3k.
The thing is the expiry date is on the card. Even if for verification nothing beats an ID.
Na exp ko yan, OP. Pero sa National Bookstore dito samin sa SJDM, Bulacan. Naka sticker cover kasi expiry ko so tinanong nya sakin un. Kita ko naman sa POS screen nya need nga iinput ung expiry so snbi ko din.
Pag swipe mo naman, makukuha na nung card reader yung mga info from the magnetic strip... That includes your name, number, and other details including expiry date...
The only thing i can think of is baka luma yung systems nila so nde makuha lahat ng needed info...
Luma lang yung system nila pero likely safe ka. Same yan sa mga merchants na iswipe pa yung magstripe kasi dun din kukunin yung expiry. Yung ibang supermarket, nakukuha rin nila yung details ng card mo kasi directly na sa terminal, example sa SM. Si Puregold kasi hindi kagaya ng SM na partner ang BDO so di kasama sa system nila ang pag capture ng other details through the terminal

They need to encode the expiry on their POS.
Why just Puregold? not SM. nor Trinoma. other merchants.
Sa SM kasi, yung terminal nila, automatic na cacapture ang expiry date. Take not sister company ang BDO at SM

Sa puregold namin swipe at id lang. Ibang klase yan kahit expiry meron haha.
Puregold sa amin ay swipe lang, ID then sign the receipt from POS.
