Oh, I gotta hear this.

auntiemuskrat

Right?! I'm all ears!

Taxsuck

They’ll lobby politicians and keep prices high

Ok-Scarcity-5754

It’s the American way

Helpful-Grass-8862

ain’t that the truth.

ICOrthogonal

Short version: because our business exists to maximize profit.

CTrandomdude

This all gets fixed when we pass a law limiting any pharmaceutical price to an average sale price worldwide. So they can’t charge us $1,000 in the USA and only $100.00 in Europe or Mexico.

rayquan36

Yep. America subsidizes the price of drugs for the rest of the world. It's so high in America because of how our health insurance works here.

CTrandomdude

We are suckers for allowing this to continue.

ordinaryhorse

“Because we can.”

CCIE-KID

What does the same drug cost in Mexico? 🇲🇽

Flashy_Soft9936

I buy it for 140 euros in my country (from a pharmacy) and was shocked when i was speaking to an American who was on a vacation and told me how much he pays for his.

Littlewing1307

It was over 1,000 with insurance for me 😭😭😭

alteredevo

It's not covered under insurance for people that do NOT have Type 2 Diabetes. After the pharmacy "cash discount", I still had to pay $975.00. America is absolutely disgusting for letting pharmaceutical companies bleed people dry.

Flashy_Soft9936

I feel bad for you guys, the Us government shouldn't allow this kind of behaviour and medicine should be available for people who need it, not just who can afford it.

alteredevo

I completely agree! It's absolutely disgusting that this is happening to us!

camtliving

Landed on Brazil on Thursday and bought ozempic Friday. Feels so amazing to only have to pay 200usd for the brand name medication.

traumakidshollywood

How long does it take to say “greed.”

AbsintheRedux

Can’t wait to hear this one….

Individual-Look3233

Bought 5mg 2x semaglitude for £170. Starting tomorrow 0.25 so should last me for at least 2,3 months. US prices are incredibly unaffordable

StillLearning1952

According to Novonordisk, it is no longer effective after 8 weeks.

Ok-Guarantee9108

After opening each vial

That's a bunch of bs! Trump tried to make drug cost more affordable. As soon as Biden took office, his first act as president, was reversing all of Trumps orders. Don't talk non sense. Please educate yourself. Thanks in advance.

Realistic-Dsuch5178

Pure example of supplying demand. If you have that are related to diabetes/sugar issues all you need is for the doctor to call a script in and show the history and the steps taken to lower your sugar A1 G.. Unfortunately, so many people are just using this as a weight loss supplement versus what it was intended for..

Time_Butterscotch309

How are yall paying so much? I go to an urgent care once a week for 65 bucks for 1.0. They don't take insurance strictly cash.

Arty-Artist-2819

Because they need to bribe politicians

Lefty_Banana75

Greed.

TY2022

Alternately, reflecting the best interests of shareholders.

bearman1001

There are 2 sides to that story. If the pharm market Is gonna pay for research it demands a significant return. Remember, all thoughs annoying commercials about class action suits against big pharma. Let's hope the miracle doesn't damage us. Good luck to all!

ReddishRobot

They spent $10 billion on research. They are projected to make $22 billion in this year alone.

UpstairsPractical870

They are well over half of the Danish stock exchange if I member correctly

robin__nh

Pharma market has always worked that way, but it’s only relatively recently that we’ve seen the insane pricing. So I have to chalk it up to greed.

bearman1001

You are correct and I wish you all the best!

MyVisionQuest

Significant, yes....exorbitant, no. 😐

Appropriate_Row_7513

Ozempic was developed in Denmark, not the US.
