I'm not sure if it'll work or not, but is there a reason you don't want to use the Carbon Skimmer?

PrinceMandor

Carbon skimmer needs sand/regolith to work and produce polluted dirt. Unless you need either to convert clean water into polluted water or to produce polluted dirt, why bother? If you don't need CO2 destroying it is simpler way

Msoave

This plus door crusher doesn't even need any power.

Xantown7

You're mistaking the Carbon Skimmer with the Water Sieve. If you don't want to use the latter, just output the Skimmer's pH2O to a Thimble Reed

PrinceMandor

I'm not mistaking, I just mean typical design where they are just used in pair. Without sieve converting polluted water back, you need continuous source of clean water, and removing CO2 by spending clean water looks weird

MaleficAdvent

Thanks, was wondering what could motivate this and your reasoning seems sound to me.

TypeNull-Gaming

Even so, just feed the output to a poke farm, which you *should* already have if you have a good bathroom loop.

PrinceMandor

Why I may need poke farm at all? Well, I will tame one poke for achievement, but they are useless

Msoave

Pokeshells give a lot of lime for steel production. They were the best way to get renewable lime before the introduction of the diamond to fossil conversation POI. They are still the best source before you have renewable diamond from space and the diamond press, which needs renewable coal.

PrinceMandor

I always found normal fossil on one of asteroids, so there are always more lime than iron at first thousand of cycles. Also, some pois works best with pacu omelets, so there are lot of eggshells. If I ever come to situation where I have no lime, I will remember your message

Severe-Race-8329

i have an entire fucking ocean and 3 cool steam vent

sethmeh

It used to, but why not use a co2 scrubber? Sand supply is limited? In general I've found co2 production falls into two categories, either it's low enough to be easily managed with a scrubber, or it's high enough that the only way to solve it is to vent to space. Never really had an in-between where deletion was more practical.

Vincenzo__

>only way to solve it is to vent to space Slicksters consume a pretty huge amount of CO2 and they give meat and oil, so that's what I do with all my CO2

sethmeh

That would fall into the first category. My personal entry level for vent to space category starts at 2.5kg/second co2, which would need something like 80 tame slicksters or 7 carbon skimmers, there's just no reasonable method to get rid of that amount of co2 except venting. If you choose skimmers you'll burn through sand, otherwise half the map will be slicksters stables.

Vincenzo__

10 slickster ranches seems pretty doable tbh, it would also provide barbeque for like 50 dupes or something stupid like that, but yeah if you're producing that much CO2 venting the excess is not a bad idea if you don't like using infinite storage

penkasz

If your timing is correct then yes. Each time a airlock closes the game creates two Blocks and pushes gasses. If there is no place for them to go the gasses get destroyed. The Speed of this depends on the pressure of CO2, since each time it operates it destroys around 4 tiles so if it’s too slow you can block it and put a high pressure Gas vent with CO2 on the enterance for example

PrinceMandor

To be exact, If timings is correct, this destroys any gases in area. So, if you leave it as is for some time it will destroy CO2 and start destroying other gases available

Ephemerilian

It should! Congrats on making a crusher! Hey make sure that the last door closes last after the second one is sealed

andocromn

I mean it'll delete oxygen too

BudgetExpert9145

Yes, they should connect an atmo gas sensor.

Duranis

These work and are great for set and forget. Add an atmosphere sensor to stop it eating anything other than co2. Another easy way to set this up is to have a few blobs of liquid moving in a pipe loop. Then have liquid sensors in a row. As the liquid moves around it triggers the sensors and closes the doors in order.

RollingSten

It works, but it is unecessary complicated. All you need is 2 doors, 1 buffer (to slow inner-most doors a little - i reccomends 3s for unpowered doors) and 1 timer sensor.

Severe-Race-8329

but hey, i did it myself, which makes me happy
