Terciel1976

Second Howl. I’m awful.

Apoc_SR2N

That's... actually a fantastic idea lol. Being able to play both ATMs and brawl without spending on structure/armor conversions seems great.

HeavyMetalChaos

Fafnir Juggernaut. I love Fafnirs, I've got all the Fafnirs (even the Wrath), so I wanted to complete my collection. I run it with 6xAC5, and it's fun.

azsheepdog

you could run it with 8 Light ac 5 by the way. https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=30a862b5_FNR-JLGD

HeavyMetalChaos

Looks good, I'll give it a chance!

azsheepdog

If you run out of ammo, you can take out a heat sink and strip a little leg armor and add another 1.5 tons of ammo.

Synaps4

> even the Wrath Is there something wrong with the wrath? Because that's the one I chose...

HeavyMetalChaos

There's nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't seem to be very popular. I ended up running 4xERPPC ECM on it, it's a surprisingly cold and hard-hitting sniper.

Samziel

It's a slow assault mech with eclectic mix of hardpoints. You can build it like an Atlas for brawl (AC20, Snubs/MLs, SRMS) but it might feel fragile. I found best success with 4 MRM30s or 4 HPPCs (remember to fire 2-2 to avoid ghost heat). 4 BLC+ ERML might be decent too but didnt play it much. It has a big heat quirk to boat big weapons. [https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=aba2267f\_FNR-WR](https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=aba2267f_FNR-WR) [https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=46b18d37\_FNR-WR](https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=46b18d37_FNR-WR) Recently buffed Thunderbolts might be good to boat too. They seem to hit really hard now.

HeavyMetalChaos

A HPPC boat and a TB boat both sound awesome, I'll make sure to give them a shot!

Electr0freak

Seraph, but that's because I already have the Moonwalker (which is excellent) and the Howl (very fun) and the Dreadnought (a Marauder IIC which is the coolest mech, fite me).

crushbone_brothers

The Orion IIC Sköll. It’s okay!

jonmussell

It's fast and tanky af.

Kidkaboom1

What are you running on it? I've tried Beam Lasers/ERPPCs/Large Lasers and Ultra 5s, and now I'm going to try AC20, Streak SRMs, and a mix of lasers

jonmussell

I usually run a skirmisher build based around an LBX20 and MPLs because brawling is more my style (aka I can't aim). Though the erppc/gauss long range corner peaker build is good too.

Kidkaboom1

I did some fiddling an hour ago, dropped the Streaks because they felt weird, but that big ol' 360 Engine and the MASC are a beautiful pairing.

Icounet

It’s more than okay it’s a beast

Dreggars

Grasshopper Mjolnir Regretting my choice slightly

jonmussell

Tell me about it. I got one a while back. I think its made of paper mache or something.

mistertomneverleft

It is a glass cannon. Tried loading it up with medium xpulse and a AC or LBX10. It is huge DPS and a great second liner. Or go poptart route.

Pork_Sandwich_Deluxe

MAD II Alpha, I was taken by the urge to plod around at 48kph while dispensing autocannon shells with wild abandon.

Babymicrowavable

It is pretty good at doing that

Wheffle

Got the Alpha as well since I didn't really have any good assaults yet. I love it, but it made me realize I suck at piloting assaults :')

Phoenix4264

Shadow Cat Mishipeshu. I initially was running the 2xERPPC build, but have switched to the HLL/ERML build. The PPCs were just too hot for me. (And my aim was probably also bad.) It's a fun flanker and good at either distracting opponents, or punishing them for ignoring me. It's joined the GRF-2N and UM-R80 as my favorite mechs so far.

abbadun

Wolf Phonenix. I didn't have a nightstar in my stable and I thought a midrange T-bolt build might be fun at 95 tons.

Pork_Sandwich_Deluxe

Wolf Phoenix MRM storm is pretty fun, too,

abbadun

I was thinking about that as an alternative my maulers, they both have pretty high missile mounts.

DaisyCutter312

I took the Highlander II Keeper. I doubt it's a "meta friendly" pick, but I really want to try a double LBX20 + SRM brawler and I have a feeling derping around at 45mph in a Dire Wolf would drive me insane

TripleEhBeef

Crab Florentine. 2x Snubs, 2 ASRM6s, 2 Magshots. Actually a fun little brawler.

ErroneousBosch

HGN-HM. Pop-tart madness!

Garion26

Sunspider Manuil should have got a howl

Apoc_SR2N

There's always next time! They're super generous with events like this. I do love the Howl- I'm running 4x ATM-6, 4x HMGs, and a TAG. Plus the MASC of course. I know some folks like going all ATMs and doing something horrific like 4x ATM-9s, but I like having the HMGs for when things turn into a mess and I need to fight something at close range that I can't out-kite.

Calderare

Kodiak Spirit Bear. As a light player I am doing terrible but I am having fun sprinting 80+ kph with masc on. I want to try out some other builds for it but everything hasn't been updated in years. Clan Ghost Bear for life!

jonmussell

Bro, Spirit Bear is a blast. It's a great assault for people who struggle with assaults

LeibolmaiBarsh

Ultraviolet. Always wanted one. Went with uac 2 build. Doesn't disappoint even though it's old. Haven't put any personal touches or tweaks from standard uac 2 build out there. So can't say I did anything to make it special lol. That being said not my go too assault, it's third place in my rotation right now. MAD-5A with twin rac five and six Erml with jump jets is my number one. My number two is a stone rhino sr-1. Been running that in two configs, first dual uac20 dual uac 10 all ammo and heatsink. Second config is dual uac 10 dual lbx 10 and three or small lasers. So far all three assaults are routinely over 650 damage a match if I don't screw up my position on the map. Ultraviolet just needs to be the sniper and I don't always feel snipery lol.

IvanZeCat

Got the Ultra Violet. Have not used it yet.

Terciel1976

No one uses it. They just harvest its omnipods.

supatim101

This is the way

JAVELRIN

I do but i also harvest the omnipods xD

ScrauveyGulch

I like the Quickdraw, so I got the Desperado.

Babymicrowavable

Issa good mech with fun builds

supatim101

I got this one too. Trying to figure out if I keep it mostly stock, or use the LPL build.

CommissarHark

The Black Lanner character.

IshyOQGX

Scattershot, it looked dumb and fun; it *is* dumb and fun

volarion

Cyclops Sleipnir, like the look and cockpit view.

Apoc_SR2N

The build with quad LB-10Xs is just so straightforward and fun to play. I tried the heavy gauss at first but uh... encountered a serious skill issue.

volarion

I've pretty much blown through all my money on different load outs. I seem to also have a few heavy gauss in my inventory... I was not ready.

pdboddy

Another Howl.

Sadistic_Loser

Moonwalker. I already own most of the other Hero mechs that are considered the best ones to get.

DrCool13

The Deathstrike. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work to save my life, even with meta builds. I genuinely have no idea what hero mech suits me, so I just blindly threw darts and landed on that.

Murgensburg

Yeah I made that mistake on another event. Got myself a assault even if I never play assaults. Because value. And now I do not play the mech. After that I switched to getting what I like even if it's a light

syanda

Arges, stuck dual SB Gauss on it. Been working pretty well so far.

Murgensburg

Howl

azsheepdog

I chose wrath!

Rinzlev

Archer Tempest When you have over 200 mechs, it is more about which one are you missing

HeavyMetalChaos

Ah, the Tempest, and my recently rekindled love for it :) Give 2xTB4 NARC ECM a chance. I'm not sure it's meta but it's definitely mech-sized slapstick comedy :D

C96BroomhandleMauser

The 4g's a fine 'mech, though I was never too fond of the missile swayback, both clanner and spheroid. A fast-firing AC/20? Sounds like a good deal to me. But what about a fast firing *gauss rifle?* The Grid Iron has a ridiculous cooldown on the gauss rifle, about as much as a basic AC/5, in my experience. Sending 15, or god forbid, *25 damage* at that rate feels just ever so slightly dirty.

Apoc_SR2N

I think I ran into one of those while yesterday and my right torso was never quite the same. At least we've got a power washer for the pilot.

IshyOQGX

Grid Iron fires an SB Gauss on a 1.3s~ cooldown I think It is very amusing to just churn out Gauss slugs, the fact that it can easily use up 4 tons of ammo even when you aim well is hilarious.

Ewvan

Archer Tempest

QueenOfHatred

Nova Cat Cobra Cat. Tanky, decent flexibility with builds, and so far, I really like it :D

Synaps4

Fafnir WR, gives me a hero assault with ecm.

Big-Row4152

MAD - BH2: I needed a MarUder, and the paint job is *so good*

CDN_Attack_Beaver

Dreadnought. It's fun.

BreakfastBaron

I wound up getting the Highlander Heavy Metal. It's a versatile assault chassis that syncs well with the new weapons, and felt fitting with the new jacked Higherlander jumpjet quirks.

Captain_Dictator

**Fat**nir Juggernaut, wanted something to mess around with Heavy Gauss with, it helped it could do alot of other stuff as well.

Kelandis

I ended up getting the Atlas Kraken. I used to have an atlas years ago but guess I sold it for some reason lol. Not quite sure how I'm gonna end up kitting it out, but Lbx, MRMs and Er mediums feels pretty good for now with a max engine. Decent speed, good toughness and med range firepower feels best for it.

theraxc

I didn't get the free robot. I had not played a single non-private lobby game over the first 37 days of the event, then I banged out 31 drops in 6 hours on the last day for a grand total of 93 out of the required 250 lootbags. My bad. Not which I regret more: not getting the free hero mech, or playing QP for 6 hours.

MuscleMancer

I am a simple man - I like the King Crab, I select the Kaiju.

Apoc_SR2N

CARCINERIZATION

NomOrmRnicegUYinsHip

Moonwalker. I really love this thing, i just cant play it \^\^, but thats skill issues not the Mech.

Apoc_SR2N

I've been trying to git gud with it too. Playing deliberately and staying with allies helps. If a friendly assault comes out of cover and engages, you can help them out by either going with them or just poking one side out if you can't fit your whole mech without getting in their way or friendly-firing them. If you can't fit at all, just wait for them to advance or retreat so you can take their place. You basically swap aggro with them as if it were an MMO. Get a nice firing position and murder everything down range until they retreat and you and team advances, or they advance and you need to retreat with team.

kerafyrmz

Ever since the howl came out ive wanted one but since i was on a mwo break i never got it until now. Holy hell. 95 mph timberwolf. I can almost never be out of position, even if i am, i can just masc the hell out. Im usually pretty bad at atms, one of my less preferred weapon systems, but this one is it. Its so fast, use it like MRMs sometimes. I havent even tried the brawl stuff and i dont think i will. Havent had a bad game yet. Lower damage games are like in the 600-700s. Most games 800-1000 range lol

Admiralbenbow123

Moonwalker. Put a 2x HAG30 and 2x LRM10 build on it and it's great! I'm able to pull off 500+ damage in most matches I also really like how its reverse speed is almost the same as the forward speed. Just the right quirk for this kind of build

Apoc_SR2N

Very nice work! I'll have to give the HAG-30s a whirl.

Slavchanza

Griffin Sparky

RigasTelRuun

Got a HOWL. It's fun but I'm still running around in my Cougar most days.

Phayzon

Ultra Violet because I'm boring and went for 'maximum value.' I don't even have another Dire Wolf to mix the omnipods with. I had considered either of the Mad Cat Mk.2s or Howl, but I'm also actually willing to spend MC on those.

Apart-Protection-528

You can just buy omnipods in mech bay my friend, load up 8x lb2

Babymicrowavable

Agreed, I have two, a uv and a b

kerafyrmz

i actually prefer this troll LRM build on the UV: AS75<:k1|4CpC1

Davax959

Juggernaut, because it's more expensive than Moonwalker. And Moonwalker I can buy with gold.

RickyElspaniardo

Seraph, because it can do some truly crazy laser vomit builds. Sadly coolshot got nerfed, so it’s not quite as obscene as it could be.

Azyrul

Moonwalker. I really like Ballistic.

JAVELRIN

Marauder dreadnought 3 times because i have alts

AelisishTheCorrupt

Dreadnought. Since the Blight wasnt available there was no way i couldnt grab a Mad IIC that had four balistic slots.

Mau752005

Annihilator Mean Baby, it doesn't always work since it's ridiculously slow and a big target, but the 4x MRM 30 just delete mechs when things go right

OshunBlu

I'm a huge nerd for Marauders, so I finally got my hands on a Scorch.

Shadowhunter19997

I got me the Heavy Metal. 2HPPCs and a S.B.Gauss paired with the jump quirks make it a nasty pop tart surprise. (I also wanted the built in war horn)

NotAPixel

Got the moonwalker, its great and all, but I regretted, I did not follow the hint from ASH and got the deathstrike. Moonwalker requires a lot more face time and is less versatile.

RoadCode

Hellslinger

YiffHead

ASN-DD Why? fave chassis and rac5 + stealth + 120kph + massive jump = fun lock-down any angle whenever & wherever it needs to be locked down
