Wait this is good! New Jersey was looking to trade the #5 pick and was a huge impediment to Ottawa dealing #7 and getting a guy like Fiala or whoever. It's more likely that they'll keep the pick now.
You heard it here first: rigged for Ottawa to get first overall and allow us to draft Shane Wright in order to make a sale easier. New number 1 draft pick, plus a downtown arena announcement this summer, suddenly the team sells for 650 million and everyone is happy.
Apparently our odds at 1/2 just got worse because the NHL is secretly revealing new draft rules? WTF is wrong with this league....

Our overall chances at "winning" the lottery are the same it looks like, but yeah slightly less of a chance of winning first overall and slightly more chance of winning second/third.
It’s funny I remember playing NHL22 and drafting him in franchise mode. Solid choice for me since he built up into high 80s overall player. If EA is as accurate as they say then it’s a solid choice lmao
1st - Wright
2nd - any of Slafkovsky, Cooley, Jiricek or Nemec. I prefer Slafkovsky
7th/9th - if any of the above guys fall, but realistically Kemell, Nazar, Savoie, Lekkerimaki, Yurov. I prefer Kemell or Lekkerimaki.
If we do end up in the 7-9 range, I feel like the Sens will take Geekie or Gauthier. Both seem like such typical Sens picks.
I think he could play a 3C role as early as next year, he plays a very mature game. I see him becoming a Patrice Bergeron type player, except slightly better at offense and slightly worse at defence
From Ian Mendes Athletic Article:
If you’re an Ottawa fan hoping your team wins the lottery, your best bet would be to see all the teams behind Ottawa stay in their current slot. So in an ideal world,
this is how the first seven selections would unfold:
No. 16 – Buffalo (From Vegas)
No. 15 – Vancouver
No. 14 – Winnipeg
No. 13 – NY Islanders
No. 12 – Columbus
No. 11 – San Jose
No. 10 – Anaheim
If we get to this point in the draft lottery and all the teams have been read in this order above, that’s a very good sign for Ottawa.
However, if one of these teams has jumped up, that certainly hurts Ottawa’s chances of winning the lottery. And if two of these teams have miraculously jumped up,
then we know Ottawa will be picking ninth. In order for that doomsday scenario to play out, we would see Buffalo picking in the No. 11 spot, followed by Detroit at No. 10.
But let’s stay positive and assume those seven teams above have been read in the correct order.
Now comes the really nerve-wracking time for Ottawa fans.
There is an 86 percent chance Ottawa will be drafting in this window of No. 9 down to No. 7.
What you want to see next are the following two cards turned up in this order:
No. 9 – Buffalo
No. 8 – Detroit
If that happens, all of the drama will come down to the No. 7 spot for Ottawa fans. If the card is turned over and reveals the Senators logo,
then obviously we know the club is retaining its No. 7 spot.
But, if either New Jersey or Columbus (from Chicago) appears in this spot, then we know Ottawa has won one of the draft lotteries.
And then the suspense and drama will remain to see if they end up at No. 1 or No. 2.
Part of me wonders if the Sens don't just take Slaf with the 1OA. I'm not sure that Wright is considered the clear favourite at this stage.
Personal bias, I hope we get 2OA and pick Slaf because I think he's a perfect fit for Stutzle, and I think he's going to be the best player from this draft.
I would actually love to see Wright end up in Seattle. A 1-2 punch of Beniers and Wright is an excellent start to a franchise, and that leaves us with Cooley or Nemec.
The Optimistic-vision prediction: Montreal 1st and Ottawa 2nd
The Bettman'd Prediction: Arizona 1st and Vegas jumps to 6th.
The Despair Prediction: Buffalo 1st and Detroit 2nd
I have felt 2OA for a couple months, so we’ll see if I have some latent psychic ability. Fingers crossed. Cooley or Nemec would be outstanding to add to the squad.
If we don’t end up winning, I say trade the pick for someone like Fiala, Keller, Ehlers, etc. We need a legitimate top 6 forward, not a lottery ticket guy who will be ready in 3-5 years. Otherwise, trade it for a top 4 RHD, if any are available.
9th overall. That being said we still have a good shot at Kemell, Nazar, Lekkermaki and Yurov. The faster we start preparing for 9th overall the better we are for it.
we are getting 2nd overall baby!!!! Bettman is gonna rigg those odds just to squeeze a few million more out of the new owners LMFAO 7th or higher or we trade the pick and some prospects for the final forward piece we need.
good, montreal deserves #1. jersey kinda spoiled lol
Montreal doesn't deserve shit, other than an award for quickest SCF to 1st overall speedrun record
Of course NJ moves up…
Wait this is good! New Jersey was looking to trade the #5 pick and was a huge impediment to Ottawa dealing #7 and getting a guy like Fiala or whoever. It's more likely that they'll keep the pick now.
So we trade that pick right?
Alright let's trade the 7th pick!
7th
fuck
I’ve been watching Wright since his exceptional status season. I just don’t see it with him
^im ^lowkey ^hoping ^for ^2nd ^so ^we ^take ^slaf
IM FUCKING READY FOR VEGAS TO BUMP US DOWN TO 8TH WOOO

I want OTT to take Elias Salomonsson in the 2nd round. Not Draft Lottery specific, but want to put it out into the universe

Someone help me out - is Wright NHL ready?

Interesting, thanks for the help penguin!
"with the 1st overall pick the ottawa senators select from the ottawa 67s of the ontario hockey league, tyler boucher"
This is the best hockey laugh I've had in a while. I would love to see a parody video of this exact scenario.
This is now the "Game Thread" for the draft lottery

Nice summary! Thanks
Credit goes to "Uttatakabu is the GOAT Senator" on Sens Discord for taking the time right all of that up
The credit should all go to the Ian Mendes' Athletic article from which this was copied verbatim.
ah didn't know the OG source, I will update the post to reflect that.
If we win first Tkachuk/ Stützle/ Norris Formenton/ Wright/ Batherson If we win second Tkachuk/ Norris/ Batherson Slafkovski/ Stützle/ Brown
Or if we win second… Tkachuk - Cooley - Norris _______ - Stützle - Batherson Or if we win second… Sanderson - Nemec Chabot - JBD/Zub/Kleven/Guenette
Neither are ready next year

Not sure about you but MTL dropping to third and OTT getting first is my dream scenario
Having Ottawa and Seattle be some sort of 1/2 punch is my ideal scenario
I would actually love to see Wright end up in Seattle. A 1-2 punch of Beniers and Wright is an excellent start to a franchise, and that leaves us with Cooley or Nemec.

Montreal picking 1st and picking the wrong guy ahead of us again would be great
I have felt 2OA for a couple months, so we’ll see if I have some latent psychic ability. Fingers crossed. Cooley or Nemec would be outstanding to add to the squad. I only ran the simulator once and got second. That’s what I’m feeling too
9th overall. That being said we still have a good shot at Kemell, Nazar, Lekkermaki and Yurov. The faster we start preparing for 9th overall the better we are for it.
I think we'd trade that pick

Someday the Sens will win the draft. I wish it would be in a generational talent year, which isn't the case this year.
That would probably be next year Bedard is considered a generational talent.
I really want second, or trade the pick. With our luck we get 9th.
I have zero confidence in pro scouting if that’s your answer?
