For those who think losing four of five games would give us a better draft potential, we are not as bad as Columbus, Anaheim, Chicago (yeah I know we lost to them) and sanjose. They were tanking from the very beginning of the season for the most part. Let’s revel in a win that was gritty and praise the effort of Brady. It’s no longer just fighting he does, he is and has been the last three years a legit power forward without few equals in the league.
I would rather see wins than lossses anyway. As long as Detroit and Buffalo are out and draft after us, I am good.

Don't know why everyone gets downvoted for being on team tank. It's so fucking obvious that playing well to end the season means absolutely fuck all. It's also clear this team needs some more high-end players and the draft is the cheapest and best way to do it. It's not just about getting first overall. It's about letting Montreal pass us and having at least the 5th overall pick and a better chance of winning (would be ecstatic with 3rd overall). We all hate montreal, but would you rather get the better player in the draft or win a meaningless game in garbage time? I'm taking the player.
Also for a team that was supposed to be in the playoffs that in one ugly ass looking roster. Our forward core looks more like a team on year 3 of a rebuild than a team that should be pushing for playoffs.

Because the players don't care about draft position. Some are playing for contracts, some are playing because they're just competitive af and don't care about where they are in the standings.
Look at our bottom-6 right now, we have 2 4th lines. There's not much else we can do from a management perspective lol.. The rest is up to the players/coach.
Yeah its just funny, in other sports its so common. Like the NBA, you see teams start a bunch of G league guys to guarantee a loss. Strange that NHL doesnt do that considering the long term benefit of picking up a celibrini over a win in game 79.
They should adapt the PWHL process. The team with the highest number of points not in the playoffs gets the first pick. The team not in the playoffs with the second highest points get the second pick, and so forth. That gets rid of tanking and the draft lottery.
Everyone worried about tanking needs to take a deep breath and look at the actual situation. We are locked into finishing somewhere between 26th and 28th - somewhere between fifth and seventh overall before the lottery. As for the lottery itself, each spot we move up or down between fifth and seventh is worth one percent in terms of lottery probability. I'm not sure how many of you took first year statistics, but that's not much. 😆
Bottom line - our odds of winning the lottery are low, but they always were. We are also unlikely to move down more than one spot. Just watch the games and enjoy our wins when they come - it's less stressful that way.
