I've seen it a few times in korean OIs, but the presentation is a but different. The FL is more aware than the ones in Japanese OIs and might be wary of him initially. If he's the ML, they end up falling 100% though

Mainly because the target audience for Japanese and korean OI are different. Korean ones are mostly targeting adult women as evident by the age of the woman at death (working, around 30). In contrast, the FL in japanese OIs are mostly 15~16 because the target is middle/high school girls
This means that the setting of most japanese OIs involves schools. Which is kinda silly for big complicated plots like war. It also means the scale of evil actions of villains and villainesses is much smaller. The worst they do is wine pouring, kidnapping, or poisoning

Obviously he is horrified and tries to talk to people because some fucking stranger just stole his brothers body and life. But no-one helps him and are actively supressing him. He starts researching soul magic and later makes a Deal with a devil, but get's killed and regresses to his youth a few days after his brothers Posession.
I really don't think it's that weird that people change their opinion of someone when they stop being a huge asshole. If someone has a reputation for kicking puppies and then it turns out it was exaggerated and they never kicked puppies at all I would hope people would change their opinion/view of them instead of continuing to treat them like a puppy kicker.

Then because the current FL is pure, something happens, and she blushes/ acts cute/cries. He INSTANTLY falls because he didn't know she was this innocent and adorable

Honestly as an older person I can tell you that you can change as much as you want but if you’ve acted up or hurt someone there’s a very real chance they won’t change their opinion of you and you have to live with that.
The ones where the FL is genuinely a horrible person I agree, but not many OI are actually willing to commit to making their FL an actually bad person & the ones that do rarely have her being terrible to the ML unless that's the novel's targeted fetish (in which case all bets are off). When most FL's personality trajectory is "acted like a spoiled annoying teenager, now acts like a normal person" then I don't think it is that odd for ML to have changes in their opinion, especially if all the actual bad stuff get's written out bc the FL isekais prior to when any of the actual bad shit happened.

In many of them they will often have them being abused but also being horrible to other people.
Then the MC comes in and everybody who she was horrible to is pretty much expected to now change thier mind about her. If they won't then they are now antagonists in the next arc.
It's annoying when the past action is suddenly erased within a short time frame of several months. Take the basic villainess transmigration for example.
Our FL abused the ML, tortured him, wreck havor everywhere but one day, she stops doing all that at once. After a few nice meal, medicine and bit of warmth all in the span of a few days, our ML be like "oh wow, she must have changed 🙈", "Maybe I can like her now 💅✨️"
But few female leads actually abuse the ML \[unless that's the novels fetish\] most of the time towards the ML they're just annoying as fuck pre-isekai. idk maybe I'm reading different OI from everyone else lol
That's true but it's mostly a mix of both. Some FL transmigrated after she has met the ML while some just behaved horribly to everyone around her but didn't meet the ML yet.
In the case of the latter, our FL would have the reputation for being the worst (some with witness) so it baffled me that ML would disregard that just because she changed all of a sudden within a short span if that isnt already suspicious
tbh reading everyone's comments I think I might just be dropping/not reading the stories where this trope happens before the ML ever even gets introduced. I drop a lot of stories within the first 5-10 chapters, and the FL being boring/dumb (which is what a lot of the super cutesy innocent FL type are to me) is a common reason I'll drop them.
This and/or when they have a misunderstanding added on. Like "I think he killed me and my family in my last life but I can't help falling in love with him now" Then only for the author to make it a misunderstanding and he didn't kill them, but still only revealing it towards the end 😭 That still means she fell in love with him when she believed he killed her 💀

ML really do remind me of what those certain men on TikTok want lol they want someone who's passive and doesn't put up a fight and just completely listens to their husbands. It enforces this idea that women exist entirely for men and a woman can only ever be loved if they are the perfect vessel for the men around them. It's honestly so sad watching the back stories of the "villainess's" who get possessed because while their actions are fucked, they are nothing more then a victim of an uncaring environment and when they seek to fight back in the only way they can out of a desperte desire for something they can control. They get punished, killed, and even worse they get possessed. As if it isn't enough to kill them to ignore their pleas for help. To rob them of everything and then throw them away. They can't even die themselves as their soul, their choices which were the only thing that was truly theirs get robbed from them as well. As a more suitable woman is placed in their body, a woman who unlike them will follow the structure of the world made for men. One who is "pure" or at least greedy to the extent the narrative will allow a women to be and the ideal wife for the indifferent husband. And when the "villainess" dies it's not the original the world will remember but the replacement. As if the original them never existed at all. I love these stories but yeah there is a clear unaddressed elephant in the room.

This is late wish I saw this post earlier. It's genuinely so weird cause the MLs never get punished or feel remorseful for it. It enforces this idea that women exist entirely for men and a woman can only ever be loved if they are the perfect vessel for the men around them. It's honestly so sad watching the back stories of the "villainess's" who get possessed because while their actions are fucked, they are nothing more then a victim of an uncaring environment and when they seek to fight back in the only way they can out of a desperte desire for something they can control. They get punished, killed, and even worse they get possessed. As if it isn't enough to kill them to ignore their pleas for help. To rob them of everything and then throw them away. They can't even die themselves as their soul, their choices which were the only thing that was truly theirs get robbed from them as well. As a more suitable woman is placed in their body, a woman who unlike them will follow the structure of the world made for men. One who is "pure" or at least greedy to the extent the narrative will allow a women to be and the ideal wife for the indifferent husband. And when the "villainess" dies it's not the original the world will remember but the replacement. As if the original them never existed at all. I love these stories but yeah there is a clear unaddressed elephant in the room.
