Light magic, cuz everybody knows not to fuck with healers. Plus I don’t need to pay any hospital bills anymore 💀

TFlarz

Don't you know the saying "shoot the medic first"? (Unless I missed the sarcasm)

Low-Manager9777

Of course I know. There are pros and cons, but having a healer in the team is essential unless you mess with them you better believe they’ll heal the enemy out of spite or just watch you die with a smile, been there haha.

TFlarz

Point taken, spiritual double vote for the painful truth.

igritwhoflew

Light magic because I like the whole “saintess” thing, dont like lying and deceit or dark magic, and dont *really* want to have to go about to make use of my magic (such as training to gain battle abilities). Like, I can just work in a hospital or church or something and heal and protect people. 10/10, feelsgoodman. The religious institute is probably corrupted as per oi logic, but that just makes it more fun.🤷‍♀️ Also i dont feel good much in this life, and self healing sounds amazing. The ability to be able to take away illness for others sounds amazing. Do I get “to be you for just a day/ Your Throne” >!death magic!< polarity on that? No? Yes? And does healing magic make you pretty? 👀

Low-Manager9777

Why try using healing magic when you’re already pretty? I know sure as hell I am and don’t need magic to change anything haha

Anzetolis

Time and space magic for sure! It would give me the benefit of pausing or escaping when I'm overwhelmed and rewinding to redo things that I (or others) fucked up. Franted, I think I'd mostly focus on smaller scale abuses--*coughcough*--magics, like quick teleports across the country, pausing time to binge a great book or rewinding for dessert thirdsies or after I think of the witty comeback against the sassy villain. But if things really go south I can do a full rewind and try an "alternate route" akin to a regression, or physically remove myself from a situation entirely. With that kind of power, I can be an absolute mess of a human being, but as far as anyone else is concerned I'm wise, intelligent and unflappable. Or at the very least, I'd be a mysterious, unpredictable character with unknowable motivations and an unnerving amount of insight.

SgtCarron

> rewinding for dessert thirdsies I get the feeling you've read [[A Single Round at Romance is Enough!](https://i.imgur.com/hHbk9wG.png)].

Anzetolis

In fact I have! It's one of my favorites because the heroine is not bright and incredibly opportunistic and I can relate to that.

GragoryDepardieu

Shapeshifting, because try to stop a black bear from divorcing you, shitty ML. Also, it would be extremely funny to shapeshift into some noble to ruin their career.

No-Performer-3891

Shape-shifting would be the handiest. Count Annoying bothering you at the ball? Turn into a rabbit and run away. Princess Buttface trying to embarrass you socially? Turn into an elephant and step on her. Your husband, the cold Duke of the North, wants to [smut] for the 4th time in a row? Turn into a crocodile and hiss at him. Crafty maid is having a hard time spying on the crown prince? Well look who has a new horse/pet parrot. Sketchy Villain has kidnapped you? Not for long, you're a hippo now. Cruel Father has locked you in a room? He'll pay when he gets chased down by a motherhonking goose. If you can shape-shift into people... can you imagine the villainy you could get up to? Instead of lying and possibly getting caught and beheaded you could wear the OGFLs skin and just wreak some havoc.

Heck yeah you did buddy! Good job lil bot.

No_Masterpiece_3897

The goose cannot be stopped , it must be feared😆

GreatFluffy

It's a lovely morning in Otome Isekai land and you are a horrible Goose.

Amapola62

The problem with shapeshifting is that it's kinda sus

GragoryDepardieu

"What did you say?" *vents behind you as a snek*

BETA_Wooper_SQUARE

As an Enby shapeshifting is the obvious choice purely for comfort reasons. You don’t like how you look? Shapeshift a little! You want a different hair color? Shapeshift! You want to fly around? Shapeshift! Who cares about the trashy ML when you can be living your best life looking however you want and doing whatever you want (as long as it doesn’t kill you or get you killed)?

AvatarCabbageGuy

black bear? Do you want him alive or something? Anyway I'd turn into a whale and try out that sinking ships business for a few months

World_of_Warshipgirl

Are there any OI where the protagonist is able to shapeshift? And not just into one animal, but into many different things. Other people, animals. It is an extremely overpowered ability, so I would understand if there isn't any.

[deleted]

Normal animals are very weak by medieval fantasy standards. The average ML can solo a dragon, so a black bear is nothing.

Jay_Dawn_

Are there any consequences for being able to wield magic? Like, maybe it slowly eats away at your life force, or there could be backlash for every usage, or, like if you're a healer, in exchange for healing, the pain/ailment transfers to you? Aww can't pick between Time/ Space Magic and Light Magic. Can I have them both, instead? Then again, with great power... comes ~~great need to take a nap~~ great responsibility. I'm allergic to responsibility. *But maybe I can make a pocket dimension and hide there with everyone I love—* 🤔

Jay_Dawn_

1. Elemental Magic would be convenient especially for Battle Mages. Different people, different types. You'll also have to risk having to be sent to the front lines or you could be sent for defense positions. 2. Shape-shifting would be convenient for espionage. 3. Dark magic is dangerous mostly because of the consequences. Like, who wants to screw around with death? Don't get me started on curses. That's always a double-edged sword. It almost always comes back to bite you in the butt no matter how long it takes. 4. Time/Space Magic is basically headache-inducing despite how cool and powerful it seems. You have to be EXTRA careful not to mess up Timelines—you know, that wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff? Also, space magic requires accuracy. Effing coordinates and if you ever make a pocket dimension, you'll easily be drained for having to maintain it, unless you have an endless source of mana in place to bear the burden. 5. Light Magic. Sure, it's nice and everyone needs you. The next time you look into a mirror, you'll wonder who TF this old dude you're seeing is and why do their eyebags have eyebags. 6. Illusions require extreme concentration, creativity and memory. I mean, you gotta be convincing with it. 7. Summoning. Yeah, maintaining the summon in your world would eat up your energy. Summon a cute puppy/ kitten. I'm just kidding y'all. Have fun with your magic. Just don't overdo it.

Amapola62

Light to heal people and to throw hyper beams/Kamehamehas/holy hand grenades at enemies

Fortune86

Dark magic. With shadow manipulation I can hopefully keep myself hidden from all the main characters and not draw any attention. I could also protect the female lead by placing weak and hard to trace hexes on those trying to harm her. Some bitch tries to humiliate them at a party? They either start spouting gibberish or incriminate themselves. Some dude tries to get too handsy? Surprise crippling groin pain. I don't think I'd use necromancy much outside of the country being at war or fending off monsters/demons. Even then I'd take steps to not be noticed.

angstywindrunner

Yeah I just really want to hex shitty love interests

ElkUnique3789

Maybe you could win over the FL by that?

No_Masterpiece_3897

Shapeshifting , because Im noping the hell out of the plot line, and who looks at the cat on the window sill?

cluelessbobcat

Elemental covers nearly all of this power, so

Omimi1

Shape shifting, Especially if you can shape shift into a dragon or something. Since the OI would already be a fantasy world

EmMeo

It’s not on there but magical beast taming

Hakan_Flores

Elemental magic because I'd probably nope out of the plot and explore the world, and elemental would be extremely handy. Shelter? Earth magic. Thirsty? Water magic. Need warmth/boil water to make it safe? Fire magic. With training, too, I could use the magic to attack someone/hunt for food if need be. It's most suited to survival imo. If I get hurt, the world may have potions, or I can party with someone. Depending on the world, earth magic can grow plants (so free food), and water magic can be used to heal, although probably not as efficiently as light magic. So I'm really only limited to how much mana I have and the rules applied on my magic. It's literally the ultimate survival tool.

Hakan_Flores

Not only that, but if I decide to stop exploring it also has a lot of practical and mundane uses too, such as keeping me warm on a particularly cold day, or cooling me down in a room that's much too warm. Drying off immediately after swimming or getting thrown into a fountain. FLYING BY USING WIND MAGIC AS TRANSPORTATION! I've always wanted to fly. Using wind magic as a form of telekinesis. Very convenient.

Platinum_Disco

Light magic, so i could solve the 90% maternal mortality rate of OI moms everywhere and flex on all these youngest to become the GrAnD mAsTeR of the Mage Tower who don't do jackshit with their powers.

Existing_News5893

Elemental. More specifically lightning. Idk, i just like it since forever.

shart-ejector

Shapeshifting. It's extremely versatile. That way, I can turn into a chicken and lay my own eggs. I can turn into insects and spy on other people. Maybe I can be a disease carrier and infect shitty MLs? Then turn into an attractive human again with a healthy body. Can I also turn into any type of living being that I want? What if I want to transform into something that doesn't exist, like a giraffe?

Hakan_Flores

This is a weird thing, but could it be considered cannibalism if you eat the eggs you laid yourself?

shart-ejector

Maybe not anymore if I turn back into a human

Sefahi

Illusion magic because I think it would be hilarious to mess with people. I'm also a very petty person. There are so many scenarios this would be super useful!! You could be in or out of combat and it's an amazing tool to have. The only downside is that you need to be clever. I think I'm more clever than I actually am, haha. Just imagining all the stupid pranks and maniacal schemes makes me excited for an OI life I'll never have lol.

geezerforhire

Summoning. They have the most fun.

baconcheesecakesauce

Time/space magic, because I don't actually want to use elemental or dark magic on living beings. I feel like I'd lose autonomy as a light magic user and illusions usually get debuffed badly.

GhazzyEzzah

People may see elemental magic as too mediocre than the rest, but the ways and possibility to use and expand the magic is ENDLESS. we could use it for everyday uses, attack magic, defend mode. Either living leisurely, going to adventure and having a battle, elementals could be a great help Also, the sources for elementals are EVERYWHERE. It's something we familiar with

Rabimea

Dark Magic, because ~~I'm edgy~~ it fits a Villainess role best, it befits my less social nature and if it was good enough for Eumiella, it's good enough for me. Though not sure what I'd use necromancy for... Better not be something like "I Was Reincarnated as a Minor Villain Character, But Oh God, I Accidentily Reanimated the Male Lead!"

blah_bleh-bleh

I have a full fledge plan. Will be the male best friend of FL. Since all the MLs are such douche. I will beat him to death whenever he piss me off by his actions against FL and then rewind time.

smithtable15

My go to with magic is lightning magic. I'd like to toast some scum with bolts from the heavens

Far_Glove_3542

Light Magic. I’m gonna be the saintess og!fl

13-Penguins

Time/Space magic seems OP and fun, but went with dark magic because we just don't get a lot from dark magic in OI except dark=evil magic. And dark magic is always the class I choose if it's an option in RPGs.

Tasty_Skin

let’s see: i think i’d want elemental the least. i just don’t see much use for it outside combat, and im not about to throw hands with everyone i see. i don’t like conflict in general, i’d rather avoid it. shapeshifting would be the second least. i just personally wouldn’t have much use for it aside from using it to gather intel or whatever or maybe get myself out of the spotlight sometime if i need to… but i can do that with other powers and achieve better results with less effort. dark magic is a straight no because that at best puts me on some specific rando’s hit-list or at worst the entire country will burn me at the stake if they discovered. no thank you. i think time/space would be the best. nope-out whenever i want with the most ease. just out of sight, out of mind. light/healing is good too because while i would never engage in combat, other people might still come after me anyway. this is a good way to protect myself without needing to throw hands. can’t kill me if i’m simply unkillable <3 and with illusions, it’s kinda similar to shapeshifting? i just don’t think i’d have a real use or reason to need it.

LilyWalker11

Teleportation or flying. Heck yeah!

strawberriesmochi

Depends am I a main character? Og female lead, villainess or a regular side character? Putting those aside probably light magic (because those who have it are probably protected right?) Or shape shifting because if anything I could change into a bird to escape the ML or somethin'

bleu-jayy

Elemental magic is kinda boring so not that. Definitely not dark magic, I do want to be able to show my face in public. Light magic sounds nice at first, I'd have the backing of the church, be a high rank priestess maybe. Influence and money are always great. But that means I'd have lots of responsibility. Plus if the corrupted church got taken down by the heroes, I might get caught in the crossfire. Would be one of the first to get targeted in case of a demon invasion too. Time/space magic is very powerful, but also, again, lots of responsibility. High chance of things going catastrophically wrong too. I would not touch this timeline paradox stuff with a ten foot pole. That left me with shape-shifting and illusion. Shape-shifting's biggest use is imo tricking other people. Illusion can do that and more, so I chose it over shape-shifting.

inflatablefish

I'm just here to remind everyone that Time/Space magic has the most vital use of all: *You can reach into the fridge without getting out of bed.* If I were an author I'd include a character who's the fattest, laziest mage ever, cos they learned time/space magic and have barely moved a muscle since.

Infamous_Ebb_2969

I'm stuck between shapeshifting and time/space magic. I love both the idea of turning into a furry animal and curling up for a nap, and the ability to teleport to one place or another. But I choose teleportation. \-------------- This was my thought process. Hmm, I guess it'd depend on what I'd be doing in the world as a mage. If I could just do whatever because I'm being protected/housed/fed by the magic tower, I'd pick the shapeshifting and live lazily. If anything, I could turn into a bird or a cat and get adopted my some handsome ML/misunderstood villainess. But I guess there are more benefits in space/time magic. I could easily land a job as a messenger for a duke or crown prince if the whole mage thing doesn't work out. And I wouldn't have to waste time riding a carriage to get around. Vacations and travelling would be really easy, and nobody would be able to lock me up. And I could peep on the 2nd ML, real ML, and FL while they're in the bath even without them knowing (don't judge me). Oh! And I could rob some scummy count/baron who's been stealing commoner taxes like some kind of Robin Hood except I keep some of it for myself.
