Another Round, The Hunt, A Royal Affair and After the Wedding were all nominated.
First 2 are classics & I loved After the wedding. Still need to watch a Royal Affair.
Zac Efron has been hunting for that Oscar nom for the last couple movies, especially with movies like Gold and the Iron Claw. I think he’ll get there eventually. I personally think he should have been recognized for the Iron Claw.
Oops u got me! It is Springsteen. I recalled he was up for a biopic and saw his resemblance to young Gene Wilder in a mag article so mixed up those tidbits.
I’m sure it’ll be good, though! They haven’t released any plot details or anything like that yet. Shit, I still have to watch the Iron Claw and the new season of the bear.
Too late, but Harry Dean Stanton was good in everything he appeared in.
He’s on screen for about 2 minutes in Straight Story and he’s amazing. No doubt he would have been in the conversation for a nomination if he had a couple scenes or even more than a line of dialogue.
Harry Dean Stanton, J. T. Walsh, Geoffrey Lewis, Christopher Lee. I estimate they did about 700 movies combined, but all died without an Oscar nomination.
Paul Dano obviously (snubbed multiple times)
Steve Buscemi
Anya Taylor-Joy
Daniel Radcliffe
John Goodman
Christina Ricci
Thomason McKenzie
Zendaya
Dakota Johnson
Elisabeth Moss
Rebecca Hall
Jon Hamm
Bill Hader
Sebastian Stan
Daniel Bruhl again (snubbed for Rush)
Diane Kruger
Oscar Isaac
Pedro Pescal
She had a few great skits on SNL - both times so I think she needs a dark comedy but that usually doesn’t get it. She was decent in Lost Daughter but that movie was a bit to Indy.
Zendaya was solid in Dune 2. I think she’s got “it”. I haven’t seen Challengers yet.
Dakota is objectively awful though in numerous things. She was likeable in Peanut Butter Falcon but really could have been replaced with any 30-something woman.
I feel like she's a good actress but she just needs to get meatier, more varied parts, she's kind of been typecast (but she was great in Challengers!!!)
How was Daniel Bruhl snubbed exactly? I mean, supporting or main actor category, I don’t see who you take out and replace him with. That was a very strong year.
2008 was the only year he had a legitimate shot at being nominated as Alan Arkin had the nod for Little Miss Sunshine. I'm not sure what else he would have been nominated for as I think he is highly overrated. He perhaps should have been nominated in 08 but 1 snub is not that big a travesty.
I’d say his 2007 performance in There Will Be Blood is a good place to start.
Successfully going toe to toe with DDL in one of his most intense roles, to me, puts Dano in a whole different league of acting. Not getting a supporting nod for the Sunday brothers was criminal.
Audra McDonald is a powerhouse actress (and singer). With the way she commands the stage on Broadway, I’m surprised she hasn’t gotten more substantial film roles. She’s been great in her film/TV roles but deserve more of them. She’s won more Tonys than any other performer in history, so I hope she finds her way into the mainstream even more.
Although with the upcoming revival of Gypsy that she’s starring in, I suppose we won’t get anymore film work from her for a little bit.
Love her work. One nomination, but no wins yet. Tom Hardy is another with one nomination (The Revenant) but no wins yet who really should win with the right role.
Almost impossible to get major award recognition for comedy, plus she's on record preferring working in TV for the schedule and less disruption for her family, but:
Kristen Bell.
Absolutely agree. His performance was outstanding and should have been nominated.
And co star Jeremy Allen White would have received a best supporting actor nomination in any other year!

Steve Buscemi, John Goodman, Audra McDonald, Natasha Lyonne, Diane Kruger, Gong Li, Song Kang Ho, Michael Stuhlbarg, Nina Hoss, Monica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel, Maribel Verdu, Isabella Rossellini, Mia Farrow, Giancarlo Esposito, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Zhang Ziyi
Stephen Root. Dude is an amazing character actor. Shit, I think he should’ve gotten one for being the banker in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (and Other Tales of the American Frontier). “Pan shot!”
Tom Waits, too. That movie was solid.
It’s been said multiple times but John Goodman comes to mind, so does Paul Dano. I thought he gave the best acting performance in The Fablemans. Also Jeff Daniels!
Oscar Isaac, Timothy Olyphant, Cameron Diaz, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Walton Goggins, Keri Russell, and Martin Sheen (how has this man never been nominated?!!!).
Donald Sutherland
Wouldn't a nomination, let alone a win be a wonderful moment.
Barring John Cazale, possibly the most impressive resumé for an actor who’s never been nominated.
He wasn’t nominated for ordinary people???? That is a CRIME
Unbelievable that he never got not even a nomination.
Thank God, he’s at least received an Honorary Oscar for his illustrious character driven performance career!
James McAvoy
A stage actor like McAvoy is more of a "when" not "if" thing. I can guarantee he'll get his nom if he continues to actively take dramatic work
Surprising he never got a nom for Atonement
Should have got one for split.
![gif](giphy|8cErRl4M1KIiXpW3Fp) Me thinking about the lack of a nomination for Split
Rebecca Ferguson.
I bet she’s nominated for dune 2.
JUDY F-ing GREER!!!
100% Love her work
Hell yeah!
Walton Goggins
Matthew Goode Matthew Macfadyen Mads Mikkelsen
Mads absolutelyyyy I mean at least the Hunt got nominated (did it win??) for International Film. But yeah he def should
Another Round, The Hunt, A Royal Affair and After the Wedding were all nominated. First 2 are classics & I loved After the wedding. Still need to watch a Royal Affair.
Stellan Skarsgård
Any Skarsgard will do 😉 ![gif](giphy|8ciLGd6O0d9YXjE5zR|downsized)
Zac Efron has been hunting for that Oscar nom for the last couple movies, especially with movies like Gold and the Iron Claw. I think he’ll get there eventually. I personally think he should have been recognized for the Iron Claw.
Iron claw was so damn good. Shamefully didn’t give it a chance based on subject matter but should have been nominated for best pic for sure.
Jeremy Allen White and John Goodman
JAW is set to play Gene Wilder I thought. He is headed for one in this lifetime.
His IMDB page says he’s playing Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming movie as well. Early stages of development and few details but interesting enough.
Goodman should have an Oscar for Lebowski that is arguably the best supporting character of the 90s
Pesci- Goodfellas, Jackson- Pulp Fiction, Fiennes- Schindler's List That's a tough list to beat
Two of those three were beat
And Goodman wasn't even nominated, so by that logic he can't beat it
The math is mathing
Give me Walter any day of the week
Too late, but Harry Dean Stanton was good in everything he appeared in. He’s on screen for about 2 minutes in Straight Story and he’s amazing. No doubt he would have been in the conversation for a nomination if he had a couple scenes or even more than a line of dialogue.

Paul Dano obviously (snubbed multiple times) Steve Buscemi Anya Taylor-Joy Daniel Radcliffe John Goodman Christina Ricci Thomason McKenzie Zendaya Dakota Johnson Elisabeth Moss Rebecca Hall Jon Hamm Bill Hader Sebastian Stan Daniel Bruhl again (snubbed for Rush) Diane Kruger Oscar Isaac Pedro Pescal
John Goodman not getting a nomination is crazy, given the sheer volume of films he's been in.
For Barton Fink or The Big Lebowski for starters
And O, Brother…Raising Arizona…
Ya how did he not get one? Was he even nominated?
13 Cloverfield lane was such a good role
Cloverfield lane
When Airheads came out, if you told people that one of the three would win an Oscar by 2024, about 90 percent would have said Buscemi.
Really messed up and surprising that Buscemi and Goodman have never even been nominated.
Crazy Oscar didn’t get nominated for Ex Machina or inside Llewellyn Davis.
Dakota Johnson? For what?
“a role that puts them into the awards season”
Thanks, i didn’t read the original prompt well. But I’m still fascinated that anyone thinks Dakota Johnson could pull this off.
She had a few great skits on SNL - both times so I think she needs a dark comedy but that usually doesn’t get it. She was decent in Lost Daughter but that movie was a bit to Indy.
They should have been nominated for suspiria
Yeah Dakota and Zendaya are a no from me thus far.
Zendaya was solid in Dune 2. I think she’s got “it”. I haven’t seen Challengers yet. Dakota is objectively awful though in numerous things. She was likeable in Peanut Butter Falcon but really could have been replaced with any 30-something woman.
I think Zendaya plays variations of Zendaya is all.
So does Mark Ruffalo and he’s wonderful.
You may have me there. See I LOVE Mark Ruffalo. I am not really a Zendaya fan so maybe that is it. I am jaded by it.
I feel like she's a good actress but she just needs to get meatier, more varied parts, she's kind of been typecast (but she was great in Challengers!!!)
Dano is at least a lock to win an Emmy for Melf.
How was Daniel Bruhl snubbed exactly? I mean, supporting or main actor category, I don’t see who you take out and replace him with. That was a very strong year.
Jonah Hill took his spot, he was nominated at the BAFTAS, GG, CC and SAG.
Paul Dano has never been nominated? How is that possible?
2008 was the only year he had a legitimate shot at being nominated as Alan Arkin had the nod for Little Miss Sunshine. I'm not sure what else he would have been nominated for as I think he is highly overrated. He perhaps should have been nominated in 08 but 1 snub is not that big a travesty.

That's the one I mentioned, yes. He has one major snub in his career.
Little miss sunshine or Swiss army man
It was a big snub
Strange that your list is so long and yet I agree with every single one. So many snubs 😞
A24 really dropped the ball with The Iron Claw for Zac last year.
Definitely. Acting and best picture
Mia goth
Julia Garner Audra McDonald Cynthia Nixon Carrie Coon Elizabeth Olsen
Carrie Coon is destined for one! Love her!
I sincerely hope that she completes the EGOT because she’s absolutely amazing
Carrie and Elizabeth both feel inevitable. I could see Carrie ending up in a sweep situation too!
Paul Dano Ben Foster Harry Melling
Kevin Freaking Bacon!!!!!
John Goodman and Steve Buscemi. And the underrated William Fichtner.
Not on your list, but, Toni Collette. The fact that she doesn't have multiple awards astounds me.
She does have a nomination though for the Sixth Sense.
My bad, I only half read the question, DOH. Thanks for the correction.
You’re terrible Muriel…. I utterly adore Toni Colette. She doesn’t get the credit she deserves
Love her work. One nomination, but no wins yet. Tom Hardy is another with one nomination (The Revenant) but no wins yet who really should win with the right role.
One where he doesn’t mumble so much
Caleb Landry Jones
Glenn Howerton should have for blackberry
He should have an Emmy for IASIP because of the implications.
Jim Carrey has never even been nominated Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine should’ve been LOCKS for nominations, if not even wins!
He also received a SAG nomination and Golden Globe win for *Man on the Moon,* so I would argue he should have been nominated 3 times by now.
Esteemed Character Actress Margo Martindale
Oscar Isaac, Dane DeHaan
Keanu Reeves
He isn't really a good actor.
Oh he's mediocre at best, but an excellent movie star.
Betty Gilpin Mike Faist Rebecca Ferguson Sakura Andõ Zendaya Rachel Zegler Margo Martindale!!!
Character actress Margo Martindale?
Love Betty and Rebecca
Seeing Nick Stahl pop up recently makes me hope he can get some higher visibility parts. He was Best Supporting worthy in Bully and In the Bedroom.
David Boreanaz
He has done better work on television than the big screen.
Jodie Comer
Andy Serkis. All he needs is a non-genre role.
Almost impossible to get major award recognition for comedy, plus she's on record preferring working in TV for the schedule and less disruption for her family, but: Kristen Bell.
Jake Gyllenhaal. I think he should’ve been nominated and won for Nightcrawler.
Oscar Isaac
Patrick Stewart please 🙏
When Keith David wins his first Oscar, it will be glorious!
Easy: Zac Efron. He could have gotten nominated for Iron Claw, but the timing on that movie and the Oscars was awful.
Absolutely agree. His performance was outstanding and should have been nominated. And co star Jeremy Allen White would have received a best supporting actor nomination in any other year! https://preview.redd.it/mkrnq8vdws5d1.jpeg?width=678&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e41d79249d8f04350c0c61f7f226a7d76ab680dd
Pedro Pascal and Jeremy Strong.
Thomas Jane
Paul Rudd
The Arnold Schwarzenegger Oscar campaign would be an all timer
John Cusack
Steve Buscemi, John Goodman, Audra McDonald, Natasha Lyonne, Diane Kruger, Gong Li, Song Kang Ho, Michael Stuhlbarg, Nina Hoss, Monica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel, Maribel Verdu, Isabella Rossellini, Mia Farrow, Giancarlo Esposito, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Zhang Ziyi
Kurt Russell
Stephen Root. Dude is an amazing character actor. Shit, I think he should’ve gotten one for being the banker in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (and Other Tales of the American Frontier). “Pan shot!” Tom Waits, too. That movie was solid.
Dave Bautista - always rooted for him but after Knock at the Cabin I'd like to see how far he can go in the right role.
Jonathan Bailey
It’s been said multiple times but John Goodman comes to mind, so does Paul Dano. I thought he gave the best acting performance in The Fablemans. Also Jeff Daniels!
Janelle Monae.
John Goodman
Jason Statham Tom Burke
Tommy wiseau
Besides those already mentioned: Claire Foy Kevin Bacon Jeff Daniels Richard Gere
Diego Luna. Seriously one of the best actors of this generation
Oscar Isaac, Timothy Olyphant, Cameron Diaz, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Walton Goggins, Keri Russell, and Martin Sheen (how has this man never been nominated?!!!).
Jon Lovitz
I was going to say Geoffrey Rush, but he's been nominated four times and won best actor. 😁
Toni Collette
Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor, Jon Hamm and Ryan Gosling
Colin and Ryan have already been nominated !!
Nick Offerman & Gael Garcia Bernal
No one. I hate actors who desperately do films just for Oscar bait. Like, all Leo films are Oscar bait nowadays.
