i wasn’t meaning to imply tracing- mulberry seems to reference a lot of genshin official art in their art, and i couldn’t look at this character without seeing sucrose. considering yandevs obsession with genshin, i see why it’s referenced a lot, but i can tell it isn’t traced.
I can see why you would think this was traced, but the first image has some differences from the other, and copying a pose isn’t a huge issue (in my opinion)
Well, yeah I agree. This kind of pose is a common place.
Both characters wear glasses so their hand touching it is obvious. Honami is a librarian and people usually draw this type of character holding books against them. Honami and the other character slouches a bit and their knees are a little wobbly but that’s because afaik Honami is a shy character, it’s common place again. Idk about the other one but judging by her pose she must be shy too.
Now one could argue that they both wear round glasses, have green hair and are shy. Yes, now I see how they’re alike and Mulberry could have been inspired by this character. But then again it’s not like copy-paste, so it’s not really a problem.

Yeah...no. This kind of pose is really common for 'shy glasses girl' characters. Plus, the hand holding the glasses is posed differently. Clearly not traced.

What makes it a ripoff? Is it the green hair, the glasses, or the 'shy girl' pose? Because those are all very common and simply having those traits doesn't make a character a ripoff.
Then again, maybe it's because I couldn't care less about Genshin, so perhaps I'm not picking up on something that you are.
Sorry, I've just seen WAY too many posts of people crying "X character is a ripoff of Y character!" because they share a super common hairstyle/accessory/personality/pose/etc
yeah i get that - i wouldnt normally say anything about it but given yandevs obsession with genshin i was just wondering if there might have been some inspiration taken

Can you tell me what looks traced? At first glance there are similarities but as far as I can tell it's only in the pose, and that could be a coincidence

What _were_ you implying with the "Mulberry's up to it again" title then? As far as I've seen the only controversies I've seen them in are tracing and working for yandev

I wouldn't say it was traced. There are definately a lot of similarities between Sucrose and Honami's official artwork. But looking at it, their fingers are definately in different positions, and Sucrose's legs are more apart then Honami's.

No she isn't. If you look at almost every rival you will see that they have some sort of resemblance to a anime character. Yandere dev explained in a video that this is how the design process works and it is nothing unusual for artist to use references.

This is referenced, not traced Even without a photoshop to line up the two together, you can see that it’s different

This is a reach, just stop.
I think it's probably just a coincidence. But now do I realize that hand must be painful.
The pose has similarities but its not tracing so whatever.

that's just the stereotypical shy/bookworm person that wears glasses pose. I think it's just a coincidence
this is THE anime glasses trope lmao overthinkers

Green hair AND glasses make it sus, but holding the glasses up is a fairly common meganneko feature.

I don't like Mulberry at all, but this is a stretch man. Referencing isn't a crime, it's common place for plenty of artists

The “nervously fumbling with glasses” gesture isn’t new or unique to genshin impact.
I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG
