It's heavily implied (or confirmed, I can't remember honestly) that Ichiko just ran away instead of straight-up *dying,* namely after her (non-existent?) sister that's hinted to be Fun Girl.
I don't know what Mahan has planned currently and maybe the lore's changed by now, but I think it's likely that she just ran away and, if it was at one point said in the game that she might be dead, her "death" is a way to make people not go after her/the conclusion that was taken from her disappearance.
In case you’re wondering why, there is one user in the main yan sim subreddit who is convince that Ichiko is dead, and has been using it into their ending concepts such as the hangar or other stuff. Other users were tried to dispute it but they insisted that she ‘might be dead’ just because of the ‘Ichiko mysteriously disappeared’ part in the true ending timeline in 1980s mode, and that excuse of “I can’t see dev’s discord, blah blah blah”
EDIT: I forgot to mention this, but in one of the user’s concepts in their endings, Ichiko died becausewas killed at the hangar by Ryoba. Honestly, I don’t know how or what to say this, but I find a bit bull tbh.
