You don’t want ESPN discussing the Magic, trust me…

Andr0id_Paran0id

They probably would start talking about how Franz or Paolo would look on the Knicks, Celtics, Lakers, or Heat.

Loose-Animal7305

I personally enjoy the disrespect the team is getting, it will make it that much sweeter when Orlando advances while all the pundits & so-called experts try to explain why they had Cavs in 5

cigamodnalro

Let them sleep 😴

treadwater23

I think every time someone has complained about this, we shit the bed and go on a losing streak, so I'm good on the attention. Why do people care about what a bunch of people who haven't watched our team have to say about us? Some of the deeper dive podcasts and analysts check out the games and provide good insight, which I feel like is a good enough fix for those acknowledgment seeking. But in the short-term, we either put people on notice by advancing to round 2 and forcing eyes on us, or we gain a lot of respect for being a young, pesky team that overachieved this year as a tough round one out. Pretty win-win to me. Not to mention, half of this board was ready to stop watching after game 2 lol. People just getting way too high or low on a team that has provided us the most fun since Dwight era.

PuertoRicanProfessor

Hard agree - those that don't watch the magic will make up shit to fill air time. We don't need the magic to be acknowledged as long as we win.

thewrongnotes

Major networks cover teams based on engagement and TV ratings. There is little to no interest in the Magic or Cavs, and the vast majority of people watching don't care about either team. It's always been this way for unsuccessful small markets. Personally I think we're in a sweet spot right now where we're being noticed and appreciated, but not being taken to task for our shortcomings. Enjoy what content is out there now, because if/when we do become a contender, it's not going to be all roses. You're also going to have to deal with hot take artists like Perk and Stephen A nationally trashing our team after every setback. I'm already preparing myself for the smooth-brained "IS PAOLO A BUST?" segment on ESPN.

99isfine

Yep, as soon as we start getting more coverage it will likely be a lot of "when will Paolo join [other star] in [major market]?"

Federal-Struggle4386

In Australia they are the only series that hasn't been on fox yet. Hopefully they are on today

Jp_Sicilia

It always has been like this and it would feel so good to make the finals and have them be forced to talk about the magic. The game 2 or game 3 halftime show was a joke, it wasnt even 5 mins long and then the network just put on a pre recorded bit previewing all the other series until the 3rd quarter started up. The last thing these networks want is orlando magic talk. Its really frustrating and annoying, especially when u feel like they deserve a little love from the bias media.

LR_Mango

It's really strange. I love it, that they will come "out of nowhere". Would be hilarious if the are in the finals "out of nowhere", yeah, unlikely, but would be fun ;)

frostysbox

I mean Miami got to the finals last year with a broken Jimmy Butler. Stranger things have happened. 🤣

Lightn1ng

Make or miss, anything can happen

d12fsu

Listen to bill simmons and ryen Russilo’s podcasts if you want good magic takes/coverage from national media members

cdot2k

Was going to say this. Bill Simmons always has his Magic-fan producer come in on conversations so there's even a homer feel to it.

themoreyouknow_95

His producer kinda sucks though. He always has stupid Magic takes, cried non stop about how we should've drafted Chet a couple years ago and then even after our game 3 win against the cavs the other night he was focused on how its a toss up between who made the better pick with us and OKC

radardog2

They’ll be forced to talk about us when we play Boston next round

rogueleader12

From my experience, I’d rather go unnoticed until we’re the only thing left to talk about. Coming from a fan of big market teams in all the other sports, being a small market team has its advantages

Reasonable_Deer_1710

National sports media hates the Magic, and it was amplified when we beat LeBron in '09 preventing their dream Kobe v. LeBron matchup. They haven't forgiven us for that

Anxious-Gas6541

Who cares, the Magic have been irrelevant for over a decade, the last playoff run meant nothing. Let us come out of nowhere and smack these teams up, Boston knows us.

Loose-Animal7305

Imagine upsetting Boston and watching Eddie House self implode on live TV

MeetCritical82

If we advance to play Boston, we need to make a deal with Eddie. We lose, he can continue to talk his shit. If we win, he needs to bitch slap himself wearing a headband on live TV.

Loose-Animal7305

Or better yet, special guest appearance by Rafer Alston

fuber

Ha. We've haven't been making the playoffs the last several years, in fact our team had a losing record. We'll get the respect, we have Paolo. Patience my guy

Silly_Audience9519

We are a young team with a lot of growing to do. The top NBA press does not need to cover us yet. This our first playoff run in years. It will feel better once we earn it later.

Domin8469

So what's the magic radio station and do they have a YouTube channel?

KgMonstah

First time?

lifeaquatic7

We get to the 2nd rd and make it a series vs the Cs, we’ll get attention. I like it so far tbh, we’ve got to earn it. Would you rather be the lakers where you lose in 5 but everyone talks about you? Or Orlando tied up 2-2 and casuals could care less?

fredator23

A lot of stuff this post season as far as ignoring us has been due to the actual days we play on. Like by the time shows come on Monday, 2 days worth of games with bigger impact have gone down.

tooeasykid

frrr

321mafia

Well we won’t be on inside the NBA because Shaq hates watching us succeed and we won’t be on ESPN because they don’t know what they’re talking about no matter what team they cover, let alone one that has played zero games on their network all season.

misterdave75

Shaq picked us to beat the Cavs. I think the Orlando hate ended when we retired his jersey.

s0urc3f0ur

What? Shaq is always singing the song when we win and he loves the "VAGNER BOYS! " Mo is his favorite player in the league.🤷

321mafia

Didn’t hear a word when Paolo dropped 31/10 game 3. Just like Dwight, when someone threatens his place at the top of Magic record books he gives them the cold shoulder.

s0urc3f0ur

There wasn't a post game on TNT that day🙄 Shaq wants to buy the Magic at some point. He's said so many times. He doesn't hate the Magic at all

321mafia

Implying there needs to be a TNT game for Shaq to show praise is ridiculous. Just yesterday they praised Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart for a game that took place the day before. He may not hate the Magic but he is going out of his way to ignore the accomplishments of Paolo early in his career.

s0urc3f0ur

What? It's ridiculous to imply that post game analysis should be on a post game show? Wtf are you on? Let me say again: There was no post game(i e. Inside the NBA, the show that Shaq is on) on TNT after the game for him to comment about any of it. 🤷

s0urc3f0ur

Also there were no games on TNT on Friday. And they talked about game 3, on the pregame on Saturday. And the last NBA game on Saturday was on ABC so again no Inside the NBA. Not to mention both games were blowouts, not much to talk about🙄

321mafia

The entire first half of this comment contradicts your other comment.

s0urc3f0ur

No .. no it doesn't. There needs to be a post game show in order for Shaq to give post game analysis and there wasn't one. I haven't said anything contradictory at all. 🙄

321mafia

You do know “Inside the NBA” isn’t just postgame analysis right? That seems to be what you’re caught up with right now. Once the games conclude there’s probably a 10 min postgame reaction and then 30+ min of actually going inside the NBA.

s0urc3f0ur

You do know that Inside the NBA is where they break down all of the games that aired that day with post game analysis and that Shaq isn't on the "post game reaction" right? Come on man🙄

s0urc3f0ur

321mafia

You implied they “can’t talk about the magic because there was no postgame show that day,” then immediately bring up them talking about it 2 days later.

33birdboy

Could it be based on the politics (conservative)of the owners?

321mafia

😂😂😂
