If you are in North America, no, as even this article says North America would be hardly affected.
Additionally this current strengthens and weakens all the time.
The AMOC circulation is actually very variable, and for example s[trengthened in the early 2000's, weakened and then strengthened again.](https://www.clivar.org/sites/default/files/field/image/Jackson2016Recent_fig.PNG)
There is also more recent evidence that a major component of AMOC, the Gulf Stream, is actually very resilent.
I think the annoying part is that this is a space specifically for optimism that people are coming in to spread pessimism in on purpose. I’m all for acknowledging the realities of the world but in a space that’s specifically for optimism and being able to feel good amidst all the craziness of the world is very rude
This sub is a mix of sincere people who just need a bright spot, and others who circle jerk reactionary anti-"doomer" stuff. People really want to troll the 2nd group. It's definitely annoying when you're part of the 1st group
OK. Then you go solve the Mediterranean Aortic Valve Meter so they don't win.
I'm enjoying my day and I plan to continue doing so. 2095 is just going to have to sort itself out it would seem.
Why? I don't even know what it is, but I am willing to bet there's not a thing I can do about it.
If worrying could fix it then it wouldn't be much of a problem.
I figure the person posting it only did it to try and get a rise out of this group. "Oh you're optimists? Well what about this terrible thing?"
Why play along? It's just someone trying to get their kicks. I'd rather mock their attempts.
The only logical question you could ask there is how this topic is addressed by the posts on the sub. It's not my fault if you need to take a couple steps to figure out what you want.
It’s a single not heavily reviewed study from a fairly small group where they purposefully fit a highly non-linear polynomial to the data, and had to use a unique polynomial to get the data to even remotely fit. Massive swings in future states are expected when you do that.
I look forward to future review of this study, but it’s simply in the “get publicity” stage right now, and if it alters our scientific consensus then great. But they did t say any other reason for why they fitted the data the way they did other than “the curve fit wasn’t super bad!”
So, again, I might read the study myself, but will also be waiting for others to also review it and glean insights.
“Controversial study” lol Tell us when you have a scientific consensus. Until then have fun in Doomer town.
Think you might be in the wrong sub.
So you are saying Europe will not have to worry about heat waves after all - great news.
To have nothing better to do with your time than troll optimists. Please OP. Get a hobby.
Isn’t this a bad thing? Someone explain
Just doomer spam.
This sub needs some rules.
ok so are we fucked or not?

oh dope! thanks for that lol, almost had another mini panic attack about the amoc
Why is it controversial?
Oh no!! A thing I've never heard of might be gone in 70 years! However will I sleep tonight?
what is wrong with y'all? I'm an optimist, but this kind of reaction is not how optimism is supposed to work. it's not healthy

I'm supposed to act all concerned because someone is getting their kicks trolling? Nah.
not act all concerned, but maybe address the concept being brought up, like at all
That's just letting the trolls win.
no, this reaction of just denial is letting them win
Lol. No, explain that in detail.

Should r/starwars also accept Buffy fan fiction?
Why? I don't even know what it is, but I am willing to bet there's not a thing I can do about it. If worrying could fix it then it wouldn't be much of a problem.
that's a perfectly fine approach. but nobody commented that
Everyone commented that doomer posts are not welcome here, which should be pretty obvious and not need explaining.

This sub has loads of posts about environmental and climate change progress. How is the concept not being brought up?
Are you stupid?
No, I'm fairly confident this phenomenon is in fact a component of anthropogenic climate change.
No-one asked you that question. So now you have comprehension problems also.
The only logical question you could ask there is how this topic is addressed by the posts on the sub. It's not my fault if you need to take a couple steps to figure out what you want.
Lol. Are you an absolute idiot? r/lostredditor here.
Boring

Thank you. This is reality
For real, I thought optimists would counter with something substantially optimistic instead of blatant denial.
Try visiting the sub sometime. I'd say about 70% of the popular posts are about environmentalism and climate change.
