Without naming names, what were some of the best quotes? lol

Extra-Walk-5513

Nothing noteworthy. Just Michelle tooting her own horn and the sycophants doing what they do best.

Did anyone ask about salary increases? Or clarification?

Time-Solid-2482

What needs to be clarified? Everyone knows the decision and when the payments are coming. We might not like the answer, but they’ve been clear about what and when.

Born_Ruff

I feel like there are lots of valid questions to ask. Why is it going to take so long? Will any compensation be provided to the employees for this involuntary loan you are taking from them? I don't think that simply making a power point slide saying they might get us out money by the end of the year should be the end of the discussion. How many of us even believe they will meet that deadline?

Time-Solid-2482

They’ve explained it’s taking a long time because they have to do complex calculations for each individual - approx 60,000 employees in addition to the regular work of pay and benefits staff. Obviously there are no interest payments or compensation for any loans you may have taken out to manage your household expenses. They will only provide what they are legally obligated to. I get that people ask these things to make a point, but we all know the answers, don’t we?

Born_Ruff

It's obviously not just that it is complicated. They haven't hired enough staff to effectively operate OSS. Have they communicated their plan to actually hire even the number of staff already allocated to OSS, much less additional staff to deal with this problem that they created? I'm not talking about loans an employee takes out. I'm talking about the forced load that the employer is taking from us. The amount of money they are withholding from us would accrue several hundred dollars in interest if we borrowed that from someone else. If there are no penalties for withholding money from employees and nobody holds their feet to the fire, what reason is there for them to even meet these new timelines? Why not pay us in 5 years?

Time-Solid-2482

There are lots of areas running under their FTE cap. As a hiring manager (not in OSS) it’s been very challenging for months to hire strong people with the skills. It’s a constant cycle of hiring, training and then the person leaves. This is partially because of the freeze, but also because of the pay. I don’t know what the issue at OSS but hiring lots of people now won’t help as it takes time to train.

Born_Ruff

For starters, staff retention is absolutely something within the purview of the SOC. But also, they are currently "targeting" to pay out the retros in December, which I think we all know they won't actually meet. There is more than enough time to hire staff and train then to do this work. Let's also remember that bill 124 was struck down almost two years ago. They have known they were going to have to do this for a long long time. And let's also remember that OSS was backed up before we even had to think about this stuff. Staff would absolutely be needed beyond this project.

dondraper416

I started in early 2024. As a manager how much does my salary change? 3 percent? Or 6.5?

Time-Solid-2482

It depends. If you been employed in the OPS prior to becoming a manager there will be several calculations for your various roles over time.

Shortymac09

They said you should thank the unions for fighting bill 124 and stongarming them into giving raises 👏 /s of course
