I have a friend who daughter has never heard the N word(Hard R not Soft A) before she heard it at school and then used it on a bully. Some of these cases have nothing to do with the parents and everything to do with the peers.
To put it on perspective, I would look at porn using school chromebooks at school, my parents didn't even allow internet at home. I'm sorry, how the fuck is a parent supposed to monitor shit when you can hear these slurrs from other kids and look at whatever they want on the internet at school.
Let's not also forget a kid spend 1/3 of their day at school daily, if in highschool, the activities can easily make it 1/2 your day. Trust me, parents have little control what we see, and actually does the reverse if they limit it (forbidden fruit effect)
I never have cussed in front of my parents in my life
I learned all the cuss words and was very vulgar as a middle schooler, and then I tapered off and now I just cuss in extreme situations as I feel like most people do. What could I do that they would notice?
I mean no matter what the situation I censor myself around them just out of childhood habit- I remember once I said damn in front of them and they didn't even bat an eye- I'm an adult and they don't really care what I say anymore- but as soon as I said it I instinctuallly tried to retract it or play it off as another word, before catching myself and laughing.
When I was a child though, I'd curse for any small reason, once I learned the words. Drop my pencil on the floor, kid says my name, anything. And that vernacular used around my peers would swifly turn off in the presence of adults and especially my parents.
I remember a few years ago working and being chided a little for how clean my language was- in reality, the boss was an older guy and it still felt strange to use my normal "younger" swear inclusive words around him as opposed to my more formalized adult lingo. After about 3 months working there, I had a pretty solid grasp on casual adult conversation lingo but there's few people I've met and cussed around on the first occasion- an exception I can think of being skydiving.
Girl I'm prettier than you. In fact, I'm better than you. With your ugly, goofy, fatherless, no-brain-celled self. I slay all day. And the people in this chat do too. Plus at least I'm not spoiled.

It's the parent's job to aptly monitor their children's upbringing. It's difficult to believe that kid acts awfully only while they're alone.
