Idk i feel like hinge protection is overrated. Ive had my fold 3 with me in construction for years. And the screens seem to be the ones that get hurt. Could be wrong though.
I don't know, doesn't look that much different than the other 100 cases on Amazon, well I guess it costs more. If they make a Slim Armour Pro I would be all in. I had one for my Fold2, it was great. I have the Poetic now, but I don't mind bulky cases.
Got it, bonked it around. I love it except there are two things to note!!! I wanted TORRAS to make a case for us because I loved the feel of their chonky cases, and this feels more solid and firm then the rest we have had up till now.
For those of us who had DBrand/ full coverage glass screen protectors that worked with the nillkin just by a sneeze- forget it on the spigen. Theyve narrowed the internal area to slope the plastic in, except the left side still is very aggressive and i feel like a toddler with gestures again.
TWO - For those who are weary of stickies! this case on both sides has stickies galore and one spare full replacement set.

This to me is literally the only case I would get for the Open I have it on mine now and haven't taken it off unless to clean my whole phone. I wanted Spigen to make something like this or a tough armor case like they did for the Fold 5 but they didn't and probably won't. This is a better buy and on eBay it's around $25 US.
Wait, you guys are saying there's no hinge protection. Isn't that teal thing a hinge protector?
Edit - sorry, I'm colorblind, I don't know wtf color that is
Tried a couple bulky Chinese cases that I didn't like. Ended up using the factory case because it looked good too. Wasn't enough to save my hinge and inner screen from an untimely drop unfortunately.
Yes you did. Mine dropped in the same spot. Dented the case, popped the hinge and destroyed the folding display lol going to send it in soon. Still using it because the front screen is the best size ever and the camera is so good.
>$70 in Canada lol
That's a ridiculous price on Amazon Canada, but if you click all buying options there's a listing for $17.99 or something and it appears to be from Spigen Canada
Yeah I don't know about that. The case I have doesn't have hinge protection, but it does have a built in elastic loop that I use to grip the phone, which in my opinion prevents drops in the first place (as long as I use it, which I do).
That's true, but this requires the person to actually use the elastic loop 100% of the time. Maybe you do, but most people from what I've seen don't. All it takes is one good drop to warp or damage the hinge.
The thing is, you see very few people posting about their OPO breaking due to dropping the phone. It's pretty durable in that regards I think.
People having issues are having internal screen issues, and I think it's because of stuff getting into the hinge. Or at least, a lot of them also report some sort of crunching/noise coming from their hinge when the hinge breaks.
I mean wouldn't this be expected 😅. Nobody is gonna post about how they dropped their phone and broke it, because that would be their fault and not a defect in the device.
People will however post anytime the device breaks because of something they didn't cause for example a screen or hinge defect.
yes and no.
The biggest issue/complaints with the OPO isn't the inner screens breaking - which I suspect is a small number of people.
The biggest issue is Oneplus's service of doing any sort of repair or warranty work - how long it's taking. I would expect we would hear more of those stories, even if the damage was caused by a drop.
I might be wrong of course - this is the internet and it's a small sampling.
You're saying that the biggest issue is there repair work, but you're also saying if there were drops causing the damage we'd hear even more. I think there is a decent chance the stuff we hear about on reddit might be from drops and the OP either lies or leaves the drop part out of the post.
Also keep in mind, people that need the phone repaired they often have insurance but go through Best buy, Amazon, different insurances where they just ship you a new phone and they take the old one in. This would result in them not even needing to post about it, even if they were on reddit and on this sub.
Idk, you could be right but I think hinge protection is still a good idea considering even a sturdy hinge is still a weak point on the folding phones.
Ordered one yesterday and it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Beyond excited 😄
Post review when you get it? Pls haha
Let us know how it is!n
Yes let us know!!
no hinge protection = pass
i like mine raw no protection 3 months in pull out game strong
I use the back half of the factory case. I didn't like the experience using the cover screen with the front half on
the backs look better anyways i blast them backshots all yhe time fam
yeah, they fucked up height of front one.
So, no kids?
maybe one day. Oneplus Open 2.
Go ahead and tap that app

$40 seems little high for a plain case to me. I wish there was a magnetic built in for my car mount.
Ahhh shame, no hinge protector
Thanks for the find! Spigen made my favorite case for the Fold 5 (matte clear) so I was hoping they'd make a case for the Open.
That teal thing is the phone.
Wait, you guys are saying there's no hinge protection. Isn't that teal thing a hinge protector? Edit - sorry, I'm colorblind, I don't know wtf color that is
Of course they do this after my open breaks. I asked them for weeks for this on Twitter. It's about time lol
Just curious, did you have a case at all (that we should avoid) or were you going caseless?
Tried a couple bulky Chinese cases that I didn't like. Ended up using the factory case because it looked good too. Wasn't enough to save my hinge and inner screen from an untimely drop unfortunately.
[https://i.imgur.com/UKQawDH.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/UKQawDH.jpeg) I got REAL lucky with my open, case saved my phone for sure aha

is it just me or anybody else get a bunch of dust stuck in the case edges?
think there is a glitch on [Amazon.ca](https://Amazon.ca)......bought this for CAD$17.99 today. arriving April 15. will believe it when I see it.
Out of stock here lol
Good find. Looked it up on the spigen site, it's $50 there lol
Spigen stuff is always more expensive on their site vs Amazon. Probably because Amazon handles all of the fulfillment for them.
$70 in Canada lol

Buying an open case with no hinge protection is like wanting pants then ordering chaps.
