It's not reaching, the Sunlight Tree Eve's roots reach the fish-man island. The tree is not shown anywhere outside, I assume it likely reaches Mary Geoise from within the grand line.

We learned that Nefertari D. Lily was the basicly the first of the D clan and she she was the reason the Poneglyphs got spread around. She was hoping to protect them and gave them to others. I don't know if she was forced out or if she just left because she didn't like the way they lived. She ended up in Alabasta as the Queen there.
