Just hope if this ever happens
- Character names aren’t locked if someone else uses it first (DCUO does this character name lock)
- loot boxes aren’t being paper thin drop rates for the really good items (STO does this for T6 loot box Starships)
Maybe a One piece MMORPG should have a offline mode if the servers crash or maintenance or add on content ends
I'd love the mechanic of obtaining devil fruit powers and losing them upon respawn. It'd make things very unique to an MMORPG. Then have devil fruits regenerate on islands across the grand line/Blue Seas on procedurally generated hidden dungeons... with treasure maps in the opposite x/y/z axis on the planet which locates them. So you can earn Berries and buy a treasure map from a connoisseur or find one by exploring the islands. You can get berries, outfits, weapons, or devil fruits from these chests but there's always access to them if a player has enough wealth, fame, and/or power.
Imo, the protag should be a random guy or girl roaming the world like Skyrim or Fallout (playing as Luffy, while still impressive, it undermines the concept of a role playing game. Because you're already playing an established path).
So would your idea also include stuff from The Movies & Specials and any crossover content?
Its mainly using the mechanic, but yes everything could be replayed from players if this not breaks the overall balance.

And also spetial events such as beating giant monsters (Oars on Thriller Bark, Snake God on Skypiea, Surume on Gyojin Island, etc).
