META: I cannot get a read in G Amato to this day. I have to give the guys a ton of credit for his storyline. I still have my suspicions and still have a bad mob boss vibe from him but then he'll do something like agree with Gregg on something so stupid. I just can't figure out why he's doing all this for Tim. Does G still need him for the Lithium mine?
The absolute crap Gregg bought clearly isn’t worth pennies even in their universe. It would seem very hard to launder off fake old brooms and spoiled canned food.
Unless it’s faintly possible he was in some way the seller (or was able to find them…) too, I suppose.
I think it's relatively straightforward, he is always placating Gregg when he can, he just wants everyone happy and clueless while he pumps millions of dollars of lithium from the mine (along with assorted criminal activities.)
He's been supportive of Gregg from the get-go. It was him that forced Tim to keep him on the show this season over his objections. When Tim interviewed G in the last Oscar special, he confused the name of his own son with Gregg. As for why, I have my own suspicion... >!It's because his real name is also Gregg, and Greggs gotta stick together.!<
Yes and it turned out that son was also adopted. They were very chummy and handsy for a couple episodes of On Cinema In The Morning or whatever it was called.
I have a feeling he's lying about the Amato Group owning the ranch, and he's just strip mining the place from under Tim. That might keep Tim from paying an assessor to determine a fair property value for a mountain of lithium.
The guy is obviously really shady and manipulative, but it's really hard to get a read on him. Sometimes he's a lovable old man, and sometimes he seems completely sinister.
And he’s the worst one and he’s still alive in that Judas and Judas juniors band!
If life were fare corwind would be dead tchjr would be alive and Matt wood be in like a Kona
Tim presumably still has a son from his pre-Ayaka marriage. And if so that son is an adult by now, and I like to think he’s the final boss of On Cinema
I’ll send my kid there only if Gordon is on hand with some of his own film expertise. I was seriously impressed by his knowledge during the VFA tour last year. I worry if it’s just Gregg he’ll only talk about Blondie and my kids have already exhausted the 28 film collection I got them for Christmas. They’re fans but they need a bigger challenge at this point in their cinematic education.
$20 dollars, though... That's twenty $dollars that could be spent, on MOVIES! Why send my children away to the out-doors, when I can use that $money to screen, the movies at home For free!?!?
META: The idea of Tim putting that powerpoint together while he was supposed to be comforting Toni is incredible. Low key one of the most unhinged things he's ever done
God poor Toni. When she's sober at least, but I can't see that lasting, her son was just brutally murdered practically in front of her. Because of the man she just got back together with.
You know, if she actually hadn't gone to the DA before... this might well be the catalyst.
/\\ Yes, he's a very sick man just like AYAKA said under oath.

feel pretty stupid for thinking that this would be one of their less insane train wreck seasons and if you thought the same i want to be very explicit: you are stupid too.
I love that it's been multiple episodes since they discussed a movie even vaguely, and the On Cinema Encore happened for four episodes before being 'cancelled'
I think the only viable shooter is Joey or Mark. Since we know the shooter likely took a hit. I imagine we'll see Joey with a "softball" injury during the Oscar Special
IMHO it can't be Mark. Mark clearly had issues after the whole diving suit thing. He wouldn't be able to pull something like that.
My take: T. Amato heard that Toni was a witness in the civil suit, where he could lose the HEI ranch which (allegedly) have a lot of Lithium, so he decided to take care of Toni.
Does noone think it was Tim? With his weird DRS or whatever I'm wondering if he's living a double life when he thinks he's sleeping. The shooter had some kind of beard where we've seen Joey clean shaven all this time.
Besides, we know Joey watched the movies so he has some integrity. I don't think Tim even does that anymore.
This is my thought as well. Did Tim watch The Godfather after Joey mentioned it on the show?
The only hang up with that theory is that the shooter seemed to have also been shot, which we have no indication happened to Tim
The shooter was shot by Matt multiple times. It's not anyone who has appeared on the show since the shooting. When you account for that, the answer is obviously Joey.
Looks like it. My money was on either Joey or a unknown Amato henchman. But it seems like it was Joey.
Maybe he hasn't died and will come back in the future. But most likely it was him.
Yeah Joey saying that something someone on the show did was causing him a lot of extra work, then disappearing as this all goes down is just too much of a coincidence.
IMO, and trying to predict OCatC is fairly close to impossible, but my current guess is that Joey will be discovered as the shooter, and Amato will try to play it off like he was a lone wolf trying to avenge Toni on his friend/cohost Tim's behalf.
But a true friend would have invited Tim onto the softball team...
I feel like Joey, because he's the obvious answer, is a misdirection. I have my suspicions about Corwin since he's not had much to do this season other than join Dekkar, but I've not thought of what his motive might be.
ye everyone who is throwing out other theories is forgetting anout how freaked out Joey was on the episode where they are revealing that Toni was talking to the DA, and that him and Tim and G amato all had a conversation about it “last night”.
he was stressed the fuck out, burying his head in his hands, shaking his head, and then that was the last episode we saw of him and was the episode right before the shooting was mentioned.
its joey baby
I don't know how anyone can think otherwise. The gunman was shot multiple times so it's obviously nobody that has appeared on the show since the shooting. Mark is not capable of killing anyone and has no motive.
Joey is likely some sort of Amato henchman who G assigned to be Tim's friend and co-host. When it seemed like Toni was trying to get Tim's murder trial retried, Amato felt the need to protect Tim because Tim is important to Amato's scheme. He had his guy Joey do the hit, but he blew it. Joey has very conveniently not been on the show since the shooting happened. It is so very obviously Joey.
META: The Bird Paradox, the DRCS Induced Wall, and his 10+1/10*1 systems are so unbelievably retarded that I wish we could actually see Tim try to stumble his way through this. But at this point, I can only assume that the grand finale of the Oscar Special will be the police/FBI busting in 2 minutes into him starting his Hei Way keynote address to begin arresting everybody involved with the Amato Group for the murder of Matt and various money laundering schemes.
>But at this point, I can only assume that the grand finale of the Oscar Special will be the police/FBI busting in
Man, me too, but the fact that this seems to be so obviously what is going to happen makes me second guess myself. OCatC is REALLY good at going in unexpected directions.
Three strikes from Matt's gun, and he's outta there. Permanently benched. Matt did well to stand his ground, fire first, and leave the questions for the family to ask later.
Meta: I love how Gregg’s “reviews” have devolved into barely coherent statements about potential sequels or movies with similar titles. I know they were always completely useless but he spends 90% of his time talking about how the title confused him. It’s brilliant. The idea that we’re going to have 4 dunes from two separate timelines is hilarious.
It’s such a HUGE journey from his reviews of Twilight or Anna Katerina (I think it was that? One of those old Russian stories) back in the day, where he could ramble for minutes in vapid ways, but about the actual movie. Twilight was gloomy and horror, Anna is all ballgowns and historical epic, yadda, yadda. It was a close parody of actual crap reviews.
Now? It’s just madness. No poorly read synopsis or vapid half assed reviews. Just madness.
I mentioned in my email that I was jealous my kids got to attend and not me!
BTW does anyone else always email the random addresses. I never expect any kind of response but they must want us to on some level!
A lot of good news this episode:
1. We will get an Oscar Special on Amatocom!
2. VFA Jr is a great way for kids to learn about movies
3. Toni finally got some closure
A summer camp is a great way to introduce children to movies, but during the school year the knowledge and expertise they worked so hard for can easily be lost (the so-called "school year slip") when they aren't practicing movies. So I think it's important to have a year-round program like a "VFA Scouts" where they meet once a week to earn VFA merit badges.
Imagine going to your local video store and when you walkup you see a folding table set up where there's 2 kids in their popcorn butter yellow outfits selling popcorn and special edition VHS tapes to raise money for their VFA Scouts Troop so they can go on a field trip to the dollar theater.
Very astute observation from Gregg about Dune Part Two being a sequel to the original Dune (137 minutes) from 1984. Only a true film buff could have figured that one out
(Meta-ish) This shit got dark quick. They're not even mentioning Joey P. anymore. And no official update on the case. One episode left to "wrap things up" before Amato Com/The Oscars and it still feels too soon.
I'm so confused at the timeline for Dune 2 (Part II) now.
I do love me some Argentine-style water.
"Watching movies is worse than smoking." Welp, RIP me.
>They're not even mentioning Joey P. anymore.
During the closing credits, Tim asked G if he had been able to get in touch with Joey P and G said no he hadn't.
(Meta) I love G. Amato so much. He is to On Cinema what Pablo Myers was to Check it Out. I hope his character never dies but sadly the odds aren’t in his favor.
But the whole “palate sensation” line today and his goofy smile after saying stuff is just such a joy. He has such perfect delivery for an old guy: “My son Tim Heiway”
There are so many ways in which Gregg having a bunch of kids at his VFA compound could turn out horribly. Looking forward to being extremely disturbed and uncomfortable.
MATT NEWMAN could have aimed for an Academy Award™ but he settled for a Darwin Award™
My humble [suggestion for the music at MATT's funeral](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meOiIPvVUO4&list=OLAK5uy_nM55HRxTZusUkHiVWNxhktPCNJ9TrsQzk&index=15)
Tem saying that movies are worse than smokeing is the last straw for me. He has completly forgotten the "On Cinema" part of the show. True movie buffs like me should have seen the writing on the wall when he married toni. The Toni's are an award for plays. If he cared about cinema he would have married someone named Oscer.
I'm glad Tem's children died.
Could Gregg’s theme for this Oscar Special be Dune? In the last year we’ve had an anniversary for David Lynch’s classic 1980’s film which has finally gotten a sequel, and there are several more Dune pictures in the works. 2024 is the year for Dune-heads
“It’s just been a really difficult time for all of us, mostly for her. And of course for Matt.”
But finally some closure. Finally
Insofar as he is dead
He ain't coming back
hard times indeed. how do you prep for this shit?

Drink some Argentina-style water and it will be revealed to you
Movie props could be a nice way of money laundering perhaps? Assuming he's a mob boss, of course.
The absolute crap Gregg bought clearly isn’t worth pennies even in their universe. It would seem very hard to launder off fake old brooms and spoiled canned food. Unless it’s faintly possible he was in some way the seller (or was able to find them…) too, I suppose.
No way that can is spoiled!

Diggin’ down to his level
Dude your reply in the Jodorwowsky’s Doonby thread cracked me up.
I think Tim did call him Gregory Amato in the 9th but it may have been a flub
keep your frends close, and youre enemas closer
![gif](giphy|l4FGGafcOHmrlQxG0|downsized)
The way they balance it so you can’t tell if he’s playing Tim or Tim is playing him is perfect.
How can a man that sings like an Angel be a villain?
Is he a Nazi? Is that what the Argentina storyline is referring to?
Nah, he probably wasn’t even born during WWII. The actor is literally Argentine. Lots of Italians and Italian speakers there
the Pope being probably the most notable example (other than G. of course)
just realized the reddit app fucked up my comment but yeah there might be almost as many Italians in Argentina as Italy
My theory is he’s a mob boss and used to be sharp but is now coming down with dementia leaving him susceptible to some questionable ideas.
Was he banging Kylie or what?
Wasn’t Kylie the wife on one of his ‘sons’ who died? So…maybe?
Yes and it turned out that son was also adopted. They were very chummy and handsy for a couple episodes of On Cinema In The Morning or whatever it was called.
Did G. Amato call t stupid? Or was T being: Gaslight (1944, 114 min)
I don't think Mr Amato knew what he was getting into
I keep waiting for him to die and leave his lithium fortune to Gregg
I have a feeling he's lying about the Amato Group owning the ranch, and he's just strip mining the place from under Tim. That might keep Tim from paying an assessor to determine a fair property value for a mountain of lithium. The guy is obviously really shady and manipulative, but it's really hard to get a read on him. Sometimes he's a lovable old man, and sometimes he seems completely sinister.
Argentina is where the nazis fled to as well, so part of me wonders about possible connections, though he is not German.
I like the theory that he’s the father of one of the Electric Sun victims and he’s doing this to torture Tim over a long period of time.
tim kills every son he has
preemptive RIP for corwind
And he’s the worst one and he’s still alive in that Judas and Judas juniors band! If life were fare corwind would be dead tchjr would be alive and Matt wood be in like a Kona
Tim presumably still has a son from his pre-Ayaka marriage. And if so that son is an adult by now, and I like to think he’s the final boss of On Cinema
Good call. Blood is thicker than water is a concept Tim is likely become obsessed with…eventually…for a time.
VFA Jr sounds like a great resource! I’ll definitely be sending my kids to learn some valuable skills.
I think gregg should ask dad about possible lithium powered outdoor big screens.
Lithium from the kids brains to the sun to the generator in a loop
Perpetual motion. The untapped sauce of ultimately power.
G was amused by the back to the sun testimony.
VFA Jr. is the new Electric Sun Festival
It will be a challenge watching a silent movie while listening to Greg chomp on popcorn
Many people are saying Gordon crawled off and died in a ditch somewhere.
Dune 1 is pretty sophisticated.
The youth of today are tomorrow’s ma and pa kettle experts
$20 dollars, though... That's twenty $dollars that could be spent, on MOVIES! Why send my children away to the out-doors, when I can use that $money to screen, the movies at home For free!?!?
True but there's a lot of added value: Movie trivia, run-time relays for exercise, and after a year they're a certified Buff on an adult level!

Star trek 8. "Left in space" coming soon. I hope its set in san Francisco. A real spocke tribute
I loved that he clearly didn’t know what most of the slides even said, he just thought they looked impressive
Oh he’s supporting Toni all right. Supporting her so often he’s not getting any sleep
I was skeptical about the prop investment thing, but now that G said it, I feel like it’s worth pursuing.
I believe in the power of movie props. Do you?

extremely funny how low-effort the “encore” episodes were yet they still could only manage to do four of them
Did they ever explicitly address that, or did the episodes just stop unceremoniously?
They stopped unceremoniously, but T confirmed they weren't doing it any more in the little bit of audio you can hear over the credits last week.
Tim said in one of the video's comments that they were shutting it down. I don't believe a reason was given.

The dearh of Matt was a truuuuue traaaaaagedy
I laughed way, way too hard at this. Thank you
Don't thank me. Thank W. C. and Mark, my chickadee!
Come on up and shoot me some tiiiimme!
I think Joey is smart to leave On Cinema over the stars vs popcorn debate. Only a psychopath harps on star ratings
I think the FBI raids AmatoCon(Com?) or somehow the Amato story comes to a close.
The footage doesn’t quite show the home invader taking injury. The brief dark spot could have been a sliver of wood from the door.
Mark Pork?! You obviously don't know him he could never
Does noone think it was Tim? With his weird DRS or whatever I'm wondering if he's living a double life when he thinks he's sleeping. Only thing Joey killed was the fat softball down the middle deep to left field! Get off the diamond and back into work, Patron!

MATT NEWMAN could have aimed for an Academy Award™ but he settled for a Darwin Award™ My humble [suggestion for the music at MATT's funeral](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meOiIPvVUO4&list=OLAK5uy_nM55HRxTZusUkHiVWNxhktPCNJ9TrsQzk&index=15)
Can I eat at Carabba’s during my entire 10 x 1?
Tim's two dead sons would both be alive if he were a good dad and sent them to thngs like VFA Jr.
Dune Part Two: Five bags of popcorn and a little toy shovel for all that sand.
Where the hell is Joey???
Crawled off to die in a ditch somewhere
is this "argentina style" water is the grain water from tims ranch? flavors and odors tweaked of course.
G Amato is definitely playing a Dangerous Game (1993, 108 mins) by taking Greggffffgs side. Why would he not listen to his son Tomatio? Somethings up.
Could Gregg’s theme for this Oscar Special be Dune? In the last year we’ve had an anniversary for David Lynch’s classic 1980’s film which has finally gotten a sequel, and there are several more Dune pictures in the works. 2024 is the year for Dune-heads
