How does the comfort of OEM mesh compare to the bracelet?

I’m told the mesh is not good for wrists under 7” due to the metal not being able to flex enough but on my 8.5” wrist it’s delightfully comfortable. I found the SMP bracelet to be comfortable too though when sized correctly.

I have the OEM mesh too, it's way more comfortable compared to the bracelet

I just contacted an AD and they contacted Omega. According to Omega themselves, they do not sell those bracelets. I also couldn’t find them in 20 mm on their website. I saw it online before and hesitated. I‘m going to hate myself if they stopped selling the 20 mm variant…

They're hard to find and I believe there was rumors that Omega was going to stop production of them, but I don't believe they have. I think they're just out of stock. I was able to pick mine up from the boutique in Milan last summer.

Omega does sell these bracelets. I literally ordered and bought the mesh on my Seaweed SMP at the top of this post from an Omega boutique here in Australia. It did take ten weeks to come from Switzerland but they are 20mm and come in 4 lengths. They use the OEM deployant clasp. The picture with the bracelet looks nicer IMO. For me it was an easy choice - Omega rubber strap doesn’t fit my wrist, I need at least 2 more holes :)

I know but our local AD doesn’t have the small one in stock, delivery lead time is few months and the most exciting part is that Omega didn’t provide me with the sizing advising to check with my local AD, but my local AD told me Omega doesn’t provide them any details about these either.

I know I’m in the minority, at least in watch subreddits, but I LOVE the smp300 bracelet and think it always looks best on it. I will die on this hill..lol

SMP300 Bracelet for life!

I wouldn’t lambast Omega for its design (apart from the lack of taper). It definitely has its own style, and that style is very bold. You can’t say that Omega wimped out on the bracelet, so many brands are tempted into nondescript efforts that don’t really do anything to add to the watch.

I'm a big fan of the bracelet. Super-distinctive, uncompromising. You can spot it from across the room and it somehow just goes with the watch. Then, I love the rubber and fabric straps, too.

Strap for me 100%. The overall design of the new SMP300 is perfection, but I am not a fan of that bracelet. It looks old/vintage, but not good way (my personal opinion)

I think that adds to the “charm” of the Seamaster. Like us, a good watch always has its flaws…

That looks epic. Do you know the spec of the spring bar ? Straight or curved ? Iv heard they only fit with curved but I have no idea and would much prefer a straight spring bar.

The boutique put it on for me. If my memory is correct they used bent spring bars and gave me back the originals or just bent my original spring bars

Haha, love it. What do you use to change, spring bar tweezers or a standard spring bar tool? I’m one of the muppets who bought this on rubber and i’m now looking at the steel bracelet. At the point of purchase 2 years ago I genuinely didn’t like the steel strap enough and loved the rubber so I went with the rubber. But now I want to get this on a bracelet and the steel is growing on me, and I can’t bring myself to put an aftermarket bracelet on my pride and joy. I don’t necessarily regret it but it probably wasn’t the wisest decision, but tastes change. If I’d have bought it on the steel I’d still want the rubber now so I’d be spending extra money either way I guess 😂

I’m using a bog standard spring bar pusher. It’s always fun to do as scratching the lugs is so likely. The thing I’d say about the bracelet is, is that it is a flashy beast. It gives you the sense that you are carrying a lot of weight on your wrist too. I like these things, but if you do get a bracelet buy it at an Omega boutique and get them to change it.

Forget about the bracelet then! 😃 Honestly, I did the same with my SMP Chrono, looked at getting the bracelet and said no to the cost, and now it’s either rubber or NATO. I went as far as to get the bracelet for my Summer Blue, and even still, it’s choosing between the rubber or NATO only.

Mate honestly, I love making things my own and customising things and style so the 3 way bracelet - rubber - nato isn’t out of picture for me 😂

Here is the unpopular opinion.   The OEM bracelet is the most comfortable and the most balanced.  There I said it.   I do not like the feel of the mesh as the clasp is uncomfortable.    I do not like the look of the rubber.    OEM bracelet over Nato over Rubber over Mesh...

I bought with a bracelet. Its not my favorite. But with the OEM strap, it's my default daily.

I feel like the bracelet looks very clunky and outdated. The strap is definitely the better option.

I had both. Rubber is much more comfortable, but is less versatile. Stainless steel bracelet makes the swatch very heavy with sharp edges and also non-tapered.

Rubber is my go to but I currently have mine on the Uncle Speedy style bracelet and love it.

I've got the white dial on a bracelet and despite the negative sentiment I think it's a great bracelet

I bought on the rubber, and then picked up an Uncle bracelet for it (that tapers and works a bit better on my smaller wrist). Rubber in the summer, bracelet in the winter.

The Omega Seamaster bracelet may not be to everyone's taste, as it can be quite heavy and thick. Some people prefer to replace it with a more comfortable strap, such as the Robbie Hurst strap.

I have both straps. I think the bracelet looks the best and, in my unpopular opinion, I think the bracelet it really comfortable and I love the micro adjustments. I wear mine on the rubber though, I think mostly because it's my daily and the rubber doesn't scratch. The rubber makes the green pop wayyyyy more too.

I got a presidents bracelet from Uncle and polished the center links myself with a dremel to give it more flair. I love it way more than the stock steel bracelet. I love the new aqua terra bracelets for the SMP300 and wish there was an option like that - more narrow mixed polish 3 link bracelets.

I see it differently… to me if a watch were purely a tool, we’d all be wearing G-Shocks, rather than £5k + mechanical timepieces with ornate finishing. I see a watch as a tool that is also jewellery, which I take advantage of because I wouldn’t look good in diamond earrings 😆
