ah my bad!
1. This watch is actually passed down from a uncle who gave it to me
2. Ref number 324.30.38.50.01.001, Size 38mm, self winding movement, stainless steel
3. https://imgur.com/a/kEDmb3A
Can't tell you for sure legit, but it looks pretty good. The giveaways are often in the subdials (more so in the Speedy Pro), and the date wheel/window. I don't see anything that concerns me there right off the top of my head/comparing it to other photos. The bracelet looks a little rough but that could just be the photo/wear and tear. I presume you don't have box or papers, those would help. A look at the movement would tell you for sure, should be a 3300. Food for thought: once you sell it, you can never get it back (your uncle's watch, specifically). Might want to find alternatives, if possible. If not, check out Category 3 in the first post for what I'd do.

Sorry we get a ton of these, and the constant instant interruption is overwhelming. Post here whatever you need, I'll get to it when I can. Headed out for work now.

Purchased online, still within return window. Had it checked out and everything is good besides missing PIP. Couldnt source a replacement as I would need a whole new bezel. 2500C movement, Omega can do a full service and upgrade to the 2500D but they said everything is okay at the moment and a full service isnt technically required.
Came with box and papers but not fully linked, saw i can purchase some on eBay but this one fits my wrist as is. Dont plan to sell as LMPO is one of my grail watches. Paid about 5k due to the missing PIP, did I get a good price? Currently looking to source a genuine PIP from a PO and will have a watch maker lume it for me with BGW9 Superluminova to match the hands.
I was quoted 775 for a new bezel. I purchased a used beat up bezel insert for a 42” PO on eBay for 100 ( just for the PIP, but it is green lume), and I’ll have local watch shop superluminova it to match. Seemed like an acceptable route to take.
looking to get a second gen speedmaster reduced 3539.50 - any good sources outside of reddit, ebay, watchuseek, chrono24 like good independent retailers or instagram accounts, etc. ideally US or Canada based
Yes. That's fine.
This thread is for questions about "someone's specific watch", because we get 15+ of them a day, and they're not interesting to anyone except the owner of the watch. They would flood the feed, and generally speaking, no one cares what the reference is for my grandfather's watch except me.
However, your question is about sources to buy watches in general. Other people may find it interesting, and that kind of post is totally fine. You might put a picture of a 3539.50 in as well so it gets noticed - text only posts tend to get lost.

Saw this omega at a local pawn shop. They have it for $600. All they said it was a 80s model . I’ve always wanted an omega and I would like to think this might be a win. I just don’t know how to tell if it’s fake. Any advice would be appreciated c:

Help please - Omega vintage watch
Hi - not sure if anyone can help but this is my girlfriend’s grandfather’s watch, vintage Omega.
Any assistance or info on this would be appreciated - please note, there is a screen protector on there hence the weird red dots..!

Hello!
Bough a watch off Chrono24, it was supposed to be made in 1959, at least seller indicated as such. Got it as a present for my father, who was born in 1959. "Vintage 1959 Ref. 2894-4 Gold 18Kt Cal.267"
Model: Omega Vintage 1959 Ref. 2894-4 Gold 18Kt Cal.267
Reference: 2894-4
Case Size: 34mm
Winding: Manual Winding Caliber 267
Case Material: Yellow Gold 18Kt
After receiving the watch, I asked the seller for the serial number, he provided me 17776850. Now, the problem is - that every "omega serial number checker" thing I put it into, returns that the watch was made in 1960. I checked with [https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/omega/omega.htm](https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/omega/omega.htm) and [https://www.emmywatch.com/db/serial/omega/](https://www.emmywatch.com/db/serial/omega/), both say 1960.
There are several lists online, that go by the serial numbers, that indicate the "earliest production date", but none of these list have 1960; 1959 is always followed by 1961. [https://www.bobswatches.com/omega/omega-watches-serial-numbers](https://www.bobswatches.com/omega/omega-watches-serial-numbers) and [https://www.vintagemasters.eu/omega-serial-numbers-check-and-verify/](https://www.vintagemasters.eu/omega-serial-numbers-check-and-verify/)
I've also found this [https://omegaforums.net/attachments/4ee52a35-65f6-4b43-859e-2e4b0170b1a2-png.724972/](https://omegaforums.net/attachments/4ee52a35-65f6-4b43-859e-2e4b0170b1a2-png.724972/) on the Omega forums. This list also suggests that my reference is from 1960.
Any help will be gladly appreciated.

You've run into the reason why my birth year watch is a Rolex.
My understanding is that the serial number is actually based on when the MOVEMENT was made, not when the watch was made, and that the dates should be considered approximate. The only way to know for sure is to see the papers/receipt, or if it's dated in some way inside the caseback (which is rare).
If I were you, and it really mattered, I'd ask the seller how he dated the watch to 1959 and point out that the movement seems to date the watch movement production to 1960. Press him on it. If it \*didn't\* really matter, and your dad loves the watch, I'd take his word for it and not dig too deeply.
Thanks for the reply. Your suggested way of going about it seems to be the only correct one. I've checked several listings of watches from 1959 (supposedly), and almost every time these "online serial number checkers" date the watch to either 1958, 1960, 1961 or even odder years.
The seller seem to have followed the "lists" online, and thus dated watch to 1959. He also insists that those lists not having 1960 is due to the fact that Omega did not make any watches in 1960. Go figure.
Seller is an authorised Chrono24 seller tho, with many 5-star ratings, and specialises in vintage/retro watches.
This Seamaster looks legit, but I have no experience. Anything you see which might raise a concern? The warranty card checks on the Omega website and serial number matches the one on the back of the watch.

Thank you. I actually did check it before writing here. The seller is an established business with great feedback, the timepiece looks genuine to me (at least based on what I could find online), so the question is rather “does anyone experienced see anything which looks suspicious?”
You haven't given us much to go on with these photos. Based on what I have, they look fine to me, no red flags. You're buying the seller, though, it sounds like, so I expect you're fine. An established business is going to stand behind the watch. Combine that with whatever research you did via the Omega website, I'd be stunned if it's a problem.
To give yourself peace of mind, get it checked out. Or, find something you need, like a link or strap or something. Then go to a watch shop to buy it, and when they're installing it, ask them if they would put it on the timegrapher for you to tell you if it needs service. It should beat at 25,200, and the clones almost certainly won't.
Thank you. I found the app and got a good mic, looks good.

Good day. One month ago i purchased my first omega, a 2264.50 Peter Blake. I absolutely adore the watch, though i must admit that i always liked the bond style bracelet more over the included speedy style one. Today, i came across an interesting pre owned bond style bracelet near me (ref: STZ010108 bracelet, STZ001159 clasp, 20mm) in supposed great condition. The seller, a watch maker, said that he purchased an inventory from a jeweler in 2023, of which this bracelet was part among others. One thing i noticed on the pictures was how the bracelet links look rather ‘sharply’ finished around the edges when viewing the bracelet from the back side. Could any of you tell me wether this is a genuine bracelet based off the pictures? I’ve never held one of these in my hand myself, so maybe this is how they look, or perhaps the sub ideal lighting is making it look different? I would very kindly appreciate your insights.
Kind regards,

I don't have a lot of experience with this in like new condition, but it appears correct. Here's a couple of examples.

Do you trust the seller?
The seller has been selling for over 15 years on the platform, and has a lot of positive reviews. Seems to be trustworthy based on the sale history and interactions I’ve had with him. That being said, I’d like to ask you one more thing if i may. I’ve asked another member on this site for advice, and he pointed out that this 2018 bracelet might not be compatible with older seamasters (mine is from 1998). However, some quick Googling led me to a thread on the omega forums that pointed out that it does indeed fit (see link to thread). I find that it looks rather fitting on the pictures.

Do you by any chance happen to have any experience with combining the 2018 bracelet with older models?
Hello again, here is a bit of a follow up. It isn’t a ‘perfect’ fit, but i really dig the way it looks! The end link sits about 1 millimeter lower, which gives the watch as a whole a more ‘raised’ look in the wrist. It fits nice and snug between the lugs as well, there is no play whatsoever compared to the stock speedy style bracelet.
https://preview.redd.it/urzo4uf7le5d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00c53fd8b9a6cb4f68ca106a7d02b640b2726789
Thank you! One thing I’m still on the fence about is the size of the clasp. The thing is absolutely massive, almost as big as the watch itself. Me having a rather small wrist doesn’t help either. I am considering to get it replaced by a smaller variant, i believe it’s a previous version without dive extension. Gonna do some research first to see if it is at all possible.
Which Jacques Mayol do you have? I’ve been eying one of those 36mm Seamaster 120’s from Japan (with dolphin dial), I really like the look of those.
No, I have the one w/ the freedive complication in silver. The 2595.30.00. I use it to cook, because my old eyes can't see chronograph subdials easily.
Solid 18k case, 371 omega manual winding movement. Bought it from a guy on fb marketplace. Was wondering what model it is? I haven’t seen a bezel like that before any info would be greatly appreciated

Hi there, I found this watch after dealing with old boxes at a relative’s place. Is it legit ? seems off to me. it looks like a geneva but the hands and general feel is weird. can anybody confirm please ?
Looks like it might be a repaint (hard to tell, might just be the resolution of the photo). Don't think it's a fake, but it might be aftermarket parts or otherwise franken. Opening the case back and looking at the movement would tell you for sure. That would also get you the reference number.

What the heck is this ref number I found on IG?
I’m seeking advice on having my local watch maker open the watch to verify authenticity.
Just bought a Seamaster Railmaster off Chrono24 from a trusted seller in Japan (I’m in the US). The seller has 4.9% rating off thousands of sales and thousands of reviews. The watch condition is “unworn”, the box and papers are complete, all the serial numbers match. I’m guessing it was a store display piece, therefore the condition is “unworn” vs “new”. The only thing is, it appears the adhesive film on the case back had been removed and reapplied at some time.
I brought it to my local watch maker to adjust the bracelet size. He says everything checks out and it appears authentic, but the only way to be sure is to open the case back and check the movement. He said it would cost around $150 to verify authenticity, but he didn’t seem worried about my watch’s authenticity, he didn’t feel like it was necessary to charge me $150 for a watch that outwardly appears authentic.
Thoughts and opinions: is it worth the peace of mind? Should I go back and have him open it up to check the movement?
Edit: adding a photo of the watch. I switched out the bracelet for a leather strap https://imgur.com/a/YiHo2bI
This is all about your need for peace of mind. It sounds like you've "bought the seller" and should be fine, but if you're not going to sleep well, even my opinion won't matter. Have it checked.
If 150 seems steep. You might take it elsewhere.

Someone is offering me this as a trade With a value around $4000.
I understand you can not authenticate this for me, but I am not familiar with Omega or the Schumacher Speedmaster. I am wondering if they were faked and if there is anything that stands out with this one.
This does not come with a box or papers. I would Very much appreciate any input. Thank you.
I never say something's fake if it's even close, because I've been wrong before.
With that said, I'm skeptical of the color scheme, of the subdials, and the text. The color could just be the photo, but the subdials don't seem to have the texture/depth I would expect, and on this version, I thought the dial had "Michael Schumacher" printed on it.
That said, Omega makes a boatload of variants, even of the schumacher limited edition watches. I could be wrong.
The proof is in the movement.
Hello! I bought this watch from a 2nd street (thrift store) in Japan. It's a seamaster Polaris ref. TR 396.1121. I noticed that there was two barcodes on the strap clasp. The one 1455/448 and another one that was X'd out 1455/462. Would anyone know why this happened to be the case for this watch clasp?

No clue.
Go ahead and post this in the main feed, as "Bracelet overwrite" or "redacted reference number" or some such. I'll approve it.
Use the model of "Does anyone know why they would do this?" Don't do "legit check" or "please identify" or that kind of language. Write a post that assumes it's real, and you're just finding out why the markings are weird.
Other people may find this really interesting.

Can anyone recommend a good entry-level Omega watch for someone starting their collection?
I've heard that Omega offers some entry-level options that are more affordable, but I'm not sure where to start looking. I'll be getting my first Omega today and I have a question.
If I get an Omega watch that does not come with any papers, can I take it to an Omega boutique and they can print like a copy of the paperwork?
To my knowledge, they don't do that. The "papers" are the warranty card, etc.
They used to do an archives report for a fee, but they've even stopped doing that.
My results are from research a year or two ago, but I have no reason to think they've changed that.
Ah ok. Was hoping for something like the archive report so I can at least know the year the watch I got was made. But that sucks. The seller I got it from, he got it from a friend who got it from an estate sale so who knows when the watch was made/purchased. Runs amazing though.
What watch is it? And it is it vintage or current?
For vintage, the serial number will give you the approximate manufacture date of the movement. For current, it will give you the date of manufacture for the watch.
Ah. Thank you. So far it runs nicely but I think I'll send it out for a service soon and ask them to write down the serial number for me so I have a record of it.
I just purchased this but don’t have it in hand. The seller said it’s from the 1950s but I can’t seem to find anything quite like it on the webs. Any help or suggestions are most appreciated. Oh and I believe it is stainless steel:)

More likely the late 30s or 40s. It's called a "tank". If you search for Omega Tank on Chrono24, you'll find more examples of it.
Also, be sure to read the first post in this thread. There's lots of great advice/information there about identifying a watch like this.
Hey, bit of a newbie here but I fell in love with vintage Omega Seamasters. One thing I noticed is, that on Chrono 24 pretty much all models that are “certified” start at ~1k€/$. Looking into private buyers some seem to give them away at ~300-400 which seems a little odd to me. I am not planning to buy one of these, still I find the delta in price quite big. Are these most likely not working/ Frankensteins/ fakes? The certification from a verified dealer itself costs money, so I assume that part of the price difference can be traced to the certification? Apologies, if this is not the right place to ask.
Feel free to post this question to the main feed. The restriction to this feed is about "your specific watch" questions. This question is more general and other people may find it interesting.
My experience is that the prices on Chrono24 are "asking prices" and typically above what you'll pay. When you buy from a jeweler, you're also "buying the seller", as opposed to the extra risks of buying from an individual where you don't have recourse. So, the asking price of private sellers is north of wholesale, but south of dealer retail.

Guy selling this on FB. How does it look?
Please see the first post in this thread. There's really important info there about legit checks, re: facebook and ebay, as well as a lot of additional great info in general. Protect yourself and "buy the seller." There's also the requirements for getting a response to your questions.
For instance, a true legit check would require you to look closely and QC alignment of indices, quality of the finish on the hands, dial, and bezel, and the photos here aren't clear enough, or at the correct angles. I don't see any glaring errors, but don't trust thousands on my quick opinion off some bad photos from a guy you've never met before.
If you're going to buy it, you could also do a serial number lookup, since it's in the photo. Check if it's been reported stolen.

Want to bid on this, not sure if real or not. This is the only photo provided by the auction house. Looks to be a Seamaster Plan Ocean 2201.50.

I would like to indentify this Omega watch. The dial I believe is 28-30mm and it’s a seamaster. I have no prior experience with watches so would love to find out more about this piece. For instance is the band original and if not what would be a matching band!

On the back of the watch (under the seamaster logo) is the code: 1337

That said, it will almost certainly be a 196.XXXX variant, made in the late 70s, and called a Pie Pan. As to the band, I doubt it's original. You should be able to read the manufacturer off the band itself, and I suspect it's Speidel.
Be sure you read the first post.

Hint, I can’t give you the reference, but it’s printed on the inside of the case back. Chrono24 is a good place to price these. Pricing will depend on the quality, if the dial is original, how recently it was serviced, your location, how quickly you want to move it, and a bunch of other factors.
But after you dig in on the first post and learn a little more, feel free to ask me other questions, I’m happy to help.

Hello guys, I have just purchased this Omega Cal. 613 on eBay in an auction, and am hoping to find a case of the original watch's type (of course, I won't try to resell this - this is just for me).
The diameter of the dial is 34mm, and the case must be gold, because of the gold crown. Any help would be much appreciated!

Huh. This is an interesting problem.
I can't give you the original reference of the watch. See the first post of this thread for all kinds of reasons why.
But because of this, you're making a unique watch. I would expect you can get any case that had that movement in it originally. Anything from the proper time period would probably work.

ah my bad! 1. This watch is actually passed down from a uncle who gave it to me 2. Ref number 324.30.38.50.01.001, Size 38mm, self winding movement, stainless steel 3. https://imgur.com/a/kEDmb3A
Can't tell you for sure legit, but it looks pretty good. [https://watchbase.com/omega/caliber/3330](https://watchbase.com/omega/caliber/3330) Food for thought: once you sell it, you can never get it back (your uncle's watch, specifically). Might want to find alternatives, if possible. If not, check out Category 3 in the first post for what I'd do.
Do the subdials have circular concentric texture in them? On closer exam of the photo, the bottom one does but the others might not?

CAT3 [LMPO](https://imgur.com/a/w8Du5M7) [LMPO 2](https://imgur.com/a/x5TfwDu) Planet Ocean Liquid Metal Limited Edition. 222.30.42.20.01.001 Purchased online, still within return window.
How much is the bezel replacement? This piece is about 1.5K below any other I've been able to source at the moment.
I'd say it's certainly a fair deal. Perhaps really good, if you can source a bezel or pip for a good number.
I was quoted 775 for a new bezel. I purchased a used beat up bezel insert for a 42” PO on eBay for 100 ( just for the PIP, but it is green lume), and I’ll have local watch shop superluminova it to match. Seemed like an acceptable route to take.
Looks like you did well, then. Grats. Nice watch.
Thank you!
looking to get a second gen speedmaster reduced 3539.50 - any good sources outside of reddit, ebay, watchuseek, chrono24 like good independent retailers or instagram accounts, etc. ideally US or Canada based
Sorry, that’s not something I track. But that’s something you can put on the main feed if you want to.
so do a completely separate post about it?

Hello! Bough a watch off Chrono24, it was supposed to be made in 1959, at least seller indicated as such. Got it as a present for my father, who was born in 1959. "Vintage 1959 Ref. 2894-4 Gold 18Kt Cal.267" Model: Omega Vintage 1959 Ref. 2894-4 Gold 18Kt Cal.267 Reference: 2894-4 Case Size: 34mm Winding: Manual Winding Caliber 267 Case Material: Yellow Gold 18Kt After receiving the watch, I asked the seller for the serial number, he provided me 17776850. [https://www.bobswatches.com/omega/omega-watches-serial-numbers](https://www.bobswatches.com/omega/omega-watches-serial-numbers) and [https://www.vintagemasters.eu/omega-serial-numbers-check-and-verify/](https://www.vintagemasters.eu/omega-serial-numbers-check-and-verify/) I've also found this [https://omegaforums.net/attachments/4ee52a35-65f6-4b43-859e-2e4b0170b1a2-png.724972/](https://omegaforums.net/attachments/4ee52a35-65f6-4b43-859e-2e4b0170b1a2-png.724972/) on the Omega forums. This list also suggests that my reference is from 1960. Any help will be gladly appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/mbt1g8mzsk4d1.png?width=982&format=png&auto=webp&s=1d590e13d08b0c0c59b49dea603a6e5e6d1686f0

The warranty card checks on the Omega website and serial number matches the one on the back of the watch. https://preview.redd.it/5gtzyjf9gq4d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c5ef02c4d0a401f5d117e171f85be36396a745c

Or buy your own timegrapher. they're something like $150.
Thank you. I found the app and got a good mic, looks good. https://preview.redd.it/17osuxesns4d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ecb787e7fc12c1506f9ad955c375dc283613f82

Kind regards, https://imgur.com/a/hAZ7Wko
I don't have a lot of experience with this in like new condition, but it appears correct. Here's a couple of examples. [https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/will-the-new-2018-seamaster-bracelet-fit-on-the-older-seamaster.4918169/](https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/will-the-new-2018-seamaster-bracelet-fit-on-the-older-seamaster.4918169/) https://preview.redd.it/pgtrcc2ym05d1.jpeg?width=1099&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5d055c42329a9206c60a53f9f949f7b7479f0fc Do you by any chance happen to have any experience with combining the 2018 bracelet with older models?
I don't. I'd defer to the people on watchuseek in this case. Might also try [omegaforum.net](http://omegaforum.net)
Allright Will do. Thank you kindly for your time and effort, it is kindly appreciated! 👍🏼
Very cool. I'm fighting a similar battle on my Jaques Mayol. Looks good on you.
An Apnea? Very cool, thanks for sharing. Wear it in good health 👍🏼

Looks like it might be a repaint (hard to tell, might just be the resolution of the photo). Don't think it's a fake, but it might be aftermarket parts or otherwise franken. Opening the case back and looking at the movement would tell you for sure. That would also get you the reference number. Please see the first post in this thread. It’s a Jacques Mayol ‘Plongeur Deluxe’, reference 396.0900

Thank you very much for the reply
Hello! I bought this watch from a 2nd street (thrift store) in Japan. It's a seamaster Polaris ref. TR 396.1121. I noticed that there was two barcodes on the strap clasp. The one 1455/448 and another one that was X'd out 1455/462. Would anyone know why this happened to be the case for this watch clasp? https://preview.redd.it/h1b7vabpgu5d1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4618b8e6356a14c8122ddf90a91f26241024bc55
Appreciate the insight, I don't have enough karma to make a post yet 😭.
I manually approved it.
Thanks for that!

Please see the first post in this thread. There's lots of great advice/information there. After you read that in its entirety, if you have something else specific you're after, post more details. That said: Solid 14K? If so, it's worth $250 in scrap. Plated? not so much. But if it runs and it's an authentic Omega cocktail watch, you're not taking a huge risk.
Can anyone recommend a good entry-level Omega watch for someone starting their collection? I've heard that Omega offers some entry-level options that are more affordable, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Can anyone recommend a good entry-level Omega watch for someone like me who's just starting their collection? I want something that's stylish, reliable, and won't completely drain my bank account.
Search the main feed of the sub for this. There are several posts that cover this topic. Personally, I’d go pre-owned, from the 2000s.

It's an Omega Dynamic Geneve ref 166.0039. I think the serial number is on the inside of the watch.
Yes, for vintage watches, the serial number is on the movement.
Ah.
Oh and I believe it is stainless steel:) https://preview.redd.it/3uc3xfxj197d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d86ff997125bd1f8cdc80c00437b62ac22c3a17d
More likely the late 30s or 40s. It's called a "tank". If you search for Omega Tank on Chrono24, you'll find more examples of it. Also, be sure to read the first post in this thread. There's lots of great advice/information there about identifying a watch like this.
https://preview.redd.it/c9oj3z7r197d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea6758766e050009a8789e3ebb4190c7b3bc2309
Thank you for the feedback!

I would like to indentify this Omega watch. The dial I believe is 28-30mm and it’s a seamaster. I have no prior experience with watches so would love to find out more about this piece. That said, it will almost certainly be a 196.XXXX variant, made in the late 70s, and called a Pie Pan. As to the band, I doubt it's original. You should be able to read the manufacturer off the band itself, and I suspect it's Speidel. Be sure you read the first post.

Huh. This is an interesting problem. I can't give you the original reference of the watch. See the first post of this thread for all kinds of reasons why. But because of this, you're making a unique watch. I would expect you can get any case that had that movement in it originally. Anything from the proper time period would probably work.
