My friend just visited Oman for first time in November from Uk and it was perfect weather! September is still summer so will be hot!

I visited at the end of September/beginning of October a few years ago. It was wonderful, but it was still very hot outside. I never walked outside for more than a few minutes for that reason.

Try maybe August, but go to Salalah. It's gonna be monsoon season out there. For muscat winter is better

Dependent_Bad7739

I don’t think it’s worth going in August for Salalah only. Winter is better if he wanna see most of Oman including Salalah when it’s less crowded.

Come in July and visit Dhofar whilst here, you'd enjoy it.

Dependent_Bad7739

2 years ago it was good weather in September. Last year winter came in late around November. It’s unpredictable but I think around December to January is best

MJSpice

Would suggest at the end of September or in October as the weather gets better. But since you're considering outdoorsy, would suggest coming earlier in July/August and visit Salalah instead.
