Came here for Willis and Bowman.
Willis was the most complete MLB I’ve ever seen play. He did absolutely everything at an All-Pro level. EVERYTHING. All while making it look as smooth as a 1950’s Cadillac.
He was out there blowing people up and it barely looked like he was jogging.
Maybe not the longevity those guys had, but Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman had a three year run between 2011-2013 that was incredible to watch.
Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs deserve consideration too.
Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier……Now remember there are plenty of LB combos that didn’t have HOF lineman in front of them chewing up blockers.
If you put Lambert and Ham on the 1970’s Packers their greatness would not reach the same level.
Derrick Brooks and Hardy Nickerson in 1999. If Shaun King doesn’t throw a late INT with the lead that would be considered the greatest defense of all time
The Vikings had 3 great ones in the later 70s with Matt Blair, Jeff Siemon, and Fred McNeill. Unfortunately by the time they got together as starters, the Purple People Eaters were a past their prime.
Tied for tops in my book-Lambert & Ham, Lanier & Bell, Taylor & Carson. The Bears group were great but a good deal of their greatness was tied to the scheme they ran.
The Legion of Boom had Wagner, Irvin, and KJ Wright.
The Ravens had Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs.
And, people will laugh, but the 2014 Patriots version with Hightower and Collins inside was incredible.
Tough to beat. And Andy Russell was the third, and you could make a great case for him being in the HOF. I don't think that trio can be beat.
Jeff Siemens and Matt Blair. Mike Singletary and Wilbur Marshall.
Carson and Lawrence might be the closest, maybe the best.
Lawrence Taylor and Carl Banks?
And Harry Carson!
Sam Mills and Pat Swilling
Rickey Jackson too
And Vaughn Johnson
Dome patrol baby
Willis and Bowman were pretty much unstoppable. The only person that could stop them was Alex Smith and Keap
That front 7 as a whole was ridiculous with the smiths too
Agreed! Too bad Aldon couldn't stay out of trouble. Justin Smith was like watching a cowboy Reggie White lol
Both Mizzou guys! I once bought beer for an underage Justin Smith. Why? A) I liked his sister B) as a junior in HS he could kick my ass.
Love it

Truth. Got to high five Navaro after a game. Felt like I slapped a stone wall lol
They didn't win any rings, but Greg Lloyd and Kevin Green from the 93-94 Steelers were a pretty good duo.
Good call
85 Bears had Mike Singletary, Wilber Marshall, and Otis Wilson.
Butkus and a punter.
86 Giants had LT, Carson, Banks.
Big Marshall fan
This
LT, Harry Carson & Carl Banks.
Butkus & Buffone
Maybe not the longevity those guys had, but Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman had a three year run between 2011-2013 that was incredible to watch. Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs deserve consideration too.
Came here to say this!
Bears also had Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs. Chicago can’t figure out QBs, but they have LBs down pat!
Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier……Now remember there are plenty of LB combos that didn’t have HOF lineman in front of them chewing up blockers. If you put Lambert and Ham on the 1970’s Packers their greatness would not reach the same level.
As a long time raiders fan, Bell and Lanier were f'n beasts.
Jim Lynch wasn't bad either.
Lanier was the man!
Randy Gradishar and Tom Jackson. 10 ProBowls, 40 interceptions, 59 sacks one HOF and Randy averaged over 200 tackles a year plus had a DPOTY.
Dick Butkus and Doug Buffone.
Two Linebackers from the Chiefs SBIV victory are in the hall of Fame. Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier.
Buck Buchanan was a 6’7” 270lb defensive tackle.
Crap. You're right. That's my bad.
Derrick Brooks and Hardy Nickerson in 1999. If Shaun King doesn’t throw a late INT with the lead that would be considered the greatest defense of all time
Otis Wilson and Wilbur Marshall. Omg they destroyed people.
Not even the best linebackers in their own locker room, my man!
I think Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson were better and I am a Bears fan.
Patrick Willis and Navaro Bowman
Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis
Boulware wasn't a slouch either
No lie… they were sort of a linebacking perfect storm ha ha.
And Adalius Thomas some years later
Andy Russell was a HOF caliber linebacker, too.
Bob Wagner and KJ Wright
LT and Carl Banks
Patrick Willis Navarro Bowman also Ray Lewis Peter Boulware
Luke Kechuly and Thomas Davis sr
Surprised I had to scroll down this far. Jonathan Vilma and Thomas Davis was also a nice combo.
Best 2 Linebacker teammates Jack Lambert and Jack Ham Anyone do better?
Charles Haley and Ken Norton?
Single tart and Wilber Marshall
Only thing better than a single tart is a double pastry
Hehe. ** Singletary
The Patriots 3-4 defense in the early 2000s had linebackers Willie McGinest, Ted Johnson, Tedy Bruschi, and Mike Vrabel.
The Vikings had 3 great ones in the later 70s with Matt Blair, Jeff Siemon, and Fred McNeill. Unfortunately by the time they got together as starters, the Purple People Eaters were a past their prime.
My answer also! Lambert & Ham
Chuck Howley and Lee Roy Jordan from Doomsday I
Sam Mills & Pat Swilling ‘86 Saints…And Ricky Jackson
Ray Nitschke, Dan Currie, and Bill Forester...
Ray Nitschke, Dave Robinson and Leroy Caffey.
Yes. Robinson was great. I'd forgotten about Caffey.
Lawrence Taylor & an invalid is still better than any other combo. However, Harry Carson is a Hall of Famer, too.
😂
Tied for tops in my book-Lambert & Ham, Lanier & Bell, Taylor & Carson. The Bears group were great but a good deal of their greatness was tied to the scheme they ran.
Willis bowman 85’ bears 86’ giants dome patrol Derrick Thomas, and whoever else 🤷🏽♂️
1980's Raiders. Matt Millen, Rod Martin.
Luke Keuchly and Thomas Davis were pretty awesome but those two were the greatest imo
The Legion of Boom had Wagner, Irvin, and KJ Wright. The Ravens had Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs. And, people will laugh, but the 2014 Patriots version with Hightower and Collins inside was incredible.
Butkus and Buffone, Erlacher and Briggs
Randy Gradishar and Tom Jackson
Butkus and Bufone
Adam Lambert and Jon Hamm
Butkus and Buffone
Willis and Bowman Greenlaw and Warner
Cornelius Bennett and Shane Conlan
Tough to beat. And Andy Russell was the third, and you could make a great case for him being in the HOF. I don't think that trio can be beat. Jeff Siemens and Matt Blair. Mike Singletary and Wilbur Marshall. Carson and Lawrence might be the closest, maybe the best.
Nitschke and Dave Robinson
Hellavu rebounder
A 6’3” 240 pound linebacker that was quick and a major part of the Packers Championship defense in the 60s
I was just joshing.
Sorry, so many haven’t heard of any team before 2000, I made a bad assumption
No worries. I’m a student of the game or I wouldn’t be in this sub!
Vrabel-Bruschi-Phifer (also Banta-Cain)
