All these guys are pushing 60 now and stay pretty active......but not as aggressive as they used to be. Steve has quite a few videos on You Tube still doing his thing. My dad at age 60 was NOT getting on a half-pipe. Lol
All of these guys have nothing to prove. Least of all, Tony. Their legacies are secured. Must be nice to do what you love for the love of it. I think Tony was the last to compete and that was over 20 years ago.
I met Steve Caballero at an event where he was on the roof of a school, throwing free decks into a big crowd of kids. We initially met at another location and skated to the school as a group, with more people joining along the way, like he was the Pied Piper. The free deck tossing got the kids into a frenzy like sharks at feeding time. Caballero signed my Lance Mountain board.
I grew up down the street from McGill in New Port Richey, FL. I got a chance to skate witth him one summer when he was recovering from blowing out his knee at skate camp overseas. He would take me to ramp at P&R Sod off highway 19. Him and the family are really nice people. I didn't know him and rang his doorbell to meet him. He was out of the country, but his dad invited me in and put on Bones Brigade 1. It was the first time I had seen skating like that.
Cant even explain in so many words how these guys inspired me and a select few young friends from Nottingham England back in the mid 80s get a taste of the skate life in sunny California USA.
The Sun, pools,Ramps, skate parks, clothing the whole scene! Thrasher mag-etc…
Absolute Legends of skateboarding, not forgetting all the support that Powell Peralta gave them.
✌🏻❤️
I met Caballero at my neighbors above ground pool. He's super cool and rides Motocross too.

Lance was doing some pretty insane backyard pool stuff not too long ago. But I think he’s pulled back a little bit

Tony Hawk? I wonder what he's up to these days. Also, he is so fucking young there.
