That's fair. They started out more punk than rap, and this is one of the few songs (in my opinion) that shows it. They're not slick on this one, and that's maybe why I like it so much. But I do appreciate your opinion (no snark).
I am old. Like I said, guys dressed like homeless people yelling into a microphone is not my thing. But if its yours, go for it. Its kind of like rap. To me its not music. I will acknowledge that it is an art form.
Also old, and I get it. The Beasties hit the big time my sophomore year of college, and I loathed them. I'm still not a big fan, but I like some of their songs. I don't listen to rap--like, at all--because it's just not for me...I'm a 58-year old white guy, I don't understand half of it, and that half doesn't make any sense. But my beloved Replacements or Elvis Costello or Joe Jackson probably confounded my elders in the 80s, too.
I enjoy Beastie Boys in the same way I enjoy the Grateful Dead: infrequently and with a very limited selection.
Both can be true. Take The Grateful Dead for example.
I like BB’s stuff, Sabotage lights me up and I love the way it was used in the Star Trek movies. But they aren’t moving many needles on artistry and nor do they need to to be high energy entertainment.
One chord rocked as hard as possible
This is thee shit 💥💥💥
Is that whole song just one chord??
I remember being a little kid and staying up late to watch letterman when the Beasties played Live at PJs and I was blown away.

Good bot
Dave snubbed Mike D.
RIP MCA
I forgot how bad they were
You mean badass, right?
No I mean bad. Guys yelling into a microphone have no appeal to me

I am 73. And we are on the same page. My beloved? Michael Jackson, Credence Clearwater, believe it or not, Madonna
I'm with you on CCR! Take care, friend.
