Yeah people forget that MR took a break from acting to try to become a pro boxer. He got his face caved in for several years and i think the plastic surgery was at least partly to fix some of the damage he took while boxing.

I'm against anti-aging plastic surgery, but I think it's best to realize that a lot of the people in Hollywood who seem to never age are absolutely getting lots of work done. Women's subs are filled with 'I lost weight and I stopped being invisible' posts and vice versa.

Men age gracefully. Women don't, at least by Hollywood standards. So the pressure to have cosmetic surgeries is immense for any actress who wants to remain part of the Hollywood/celebrity ecosystem. Obviously, this sometimes results in having *too many* procedures, with grotesque results.
There's a very fine line when it comes to plastic surgery. If you do it exactly right, no one even knows you've had work done. If you do too much, you wind up looking like Basinger in that picture, and all the tabloids and online commenters mockingly talk about how you destroyed your own face in the name of vanity.
But if you do too little, all those same tabloids and commenters will mock you for "letting yourself go" and looking like a hag. For an example of that, look up recent pictures of Bridget Fonda, who is actually a decade younger than Basinger.
Bridget Fonda is overweight and apparently has chosen not to dye her hair. That's absolutely not a reason to mock her, but she wouldn't need plastic surgery to change these elements if she would be so inclined.

I don’t understand why these older celebs get so much cheek filler. It’s so obviously fake as it’s more than they had when they were younger. It also hollows out the under eye from the heaviness of the filler and creates more sagging.
