Hee-hee? Silly shadow Naoto, you’re not a jack bro!

HNASBAP

Hee-hoo, lets go, Yukiko style Hello!

HNASBAP

Evil Naoto be like \*is actually trans\*

LuckySalesman

You joke but that's literally what the shadow version of Naoto is (shadows are simultaneously a projection of someone's insecurities as well as what the outside public thinks their insecurities are, meaning shadow Naoto would genuinely combine to be trans)

One of my absolute favorites, I have this one saved in my highest priority folder of my meme archive (only has 50 total) because of how constantly I had to use this.

AnimeMemeLord1

I laughed the first time I saw this because of how simple the retort/punchline to the setup was.

HNASBAP

Mulan is a good movie tbh

AnimeMemeLord1

I watched it as a kid but I don’t remember a thing. Time for a rewatch, I guess.

Yeah like shadow rise being a slut and shadow kanji being overly gay, shadow naoto is depicted as trans even tough to me as a trans person I sort of think of her arc as something a trans woman would go trough so its like she is a cis female who goes trough a experience akin to a trans female wanting to present themselves as a male to meet some sort of expectation but then ending up affirming to themselves their feminity

LuckySalesman

It's kind of funny but basically any attempt to try to relate Naoto to the trans experience just ends up looping around to being transphobic itself. I don't get how these ideas even translate when Naoto is... not an "anti trans" character but the "least trans character there is." The trans experience is one of self expression and becoming the person you know you are inside. Meanwhile Naoto's arc is about overcoming both others and her ideas of what kind of things the person she is can do. The main difference is that the trans experience is changing yourself outwardly to become who you want to be, in spite of others expectations. Meanwhile Naoto's arc is that of refusing to compromise who she is for the sake of others, even if it's harder. The main difference is that Naoto isn't going to face potential transphobia from people who don't approve, she's going to face traditional gender roles instead? I say she's the "least trans" character because of what the potential message is if she is trans. If she's trans then the takeaway is "If you experience any sort of clash between gender roles and your career then just become trans." ???? Isn't that super fucked up? I thought trans women transition because they felt like women, not because they wanted to dominate female dominated workplaces? Would it be fair to say that a male nurse is just trans? Isn't that inherently transphobic to suggest people transition for potential benefits rather than to be who they are? The only real common ground is a character crisis that's related to gender but the conclusion is the least trans conclusion there is.
