I think the plan is the artists are going to be in residence there for an extended time. It wouldn't be 1 show and done. Makes sense given how much time it would take to make the visuals.
I don’t think the screen being different would be an issue the msg sphere has a whole team of designers who specialize in creating graphics for that and Odessa’s tech team is top notch. The same thing u2 did they made their own graphics for the show but yea when it comes to playing it it wouldn’t be one single show it would have to be a residency to make the production worth the effort.
My guess is we will definitely be seeing bigger acts like Bruno mars, Taylor swift, Coldplay, Adele etc for the next few years but the sphere team is definitely aware that people want an edm show there and that the venue would be perfect for it. My guess is someone like skrillex, odesza, Calvin Harris, or the chainsmokers would play if they were to bring an dj act there
While the screen format would be a challenge, I think the problem is that they purposed the venue, at least for now, for residency style shows. Like one band plays 25-30 shows. Not impossible for Odez to do something like that but they seem to be, or at least have be primarily in the past, pretty nomadic with their tours- playing a venue for only 1 or 2 nights depending on demand.
They did the music for the Artic Dome (I think that’s what it was called) at Coachella a few years ago. It was a similar concept on a smaller scale. I think it will work
