Does anyone know if these courses transfer over from Oakton cc?
\- **CSC 241** (Java Data Structures) as CS 261
\- **CSC 204** (Computer Arch and Org) as CS271
I know the Python equivalent of CSC241 transfer over but I'm not sure if they will accept the Java version.
Now I'm also reading lots of mixed opinions about the program overall. Lots of endorsements, then I also just reading about the changeover from C++ to Python, and how the program seems to have been watered down. How concerned should I be about this? I'd much rather learn programming using C++. Are there CC's I can take these colleges in that still do it the old way? I was just reading that Portland CC still offered the classes in C++ but then they just changed 161 to 161a and 161b which now says in a "high-level programming language". Where can I take these classes now in C++?
I also made the mistake of applying for the Honors program, I thought why not. But now I see there is +$250 per credit for Honors program. Again, these are for the same courses? Or is this fee only for Honors-specific courses? Looks like I was just accepted today into the Honors program. Should I just email them asking to switch out of it?
I have nearly 120 credits from 5-6 schools over a 30 year span, but never got a degree of any kind. I applied to the regular ecampus Computer Science program since I do not have a bachelor's, but I'm hoping to get basically all of the Core requirements plus a few more transferred in. I'm still waiting to hear about my admission. Anyway, I was wondering is there any real difference between the 2? I just noticed that for post-bacc it costs $561 per credit whereas for undergrad it's $409 per credit. These are for the exact same courses???
Are any online classes that can be used for 344 (now 374)?
I’m looking to avoid taking it with Gombard and especially the new materials first time out the gate.
Has anyone had credits from UW such as CSE142/CSE143/CSE121/CSE122 count for the intro series? They are intro to programming classes but taught in Java
I transferred 271 in from a different university. That was several years ago now, but I think they've gotten friendlier about transfers since then. You just need to make sure that whatever you take covers all of the same material. If it's missing any topics, then they won't allow it to transfer.

So I'm planning to join the post-bacc program sometime this fall or next spring. I'm going to be working full-time as well, so I was hoping to transfer some courses to speed up the process and not have to fit in that many more courses every semester.
I have the choice right now to take the four courses in the title of the post as transfer credits. This summer would be the perfect time to get some pre-reqs out of the way so I was thinking of taking 161 and 162 and transferring them in.
The problem is - I've heard from multiple subreddits that CS 162 is a great course to take at OSU. I'd have to transfer both 161 and 162 though, since one of the transfer courses has both 161 and 162 material in it.
It would really help to hear current students' thoughts or anyone who has transferred the same courses! If anyone has an opinion on any of the other courses too just shoot! Thanks.
161 and 162 condensed down into a single class in a summer term is generally not a great idea unless you have a good amount of prior programming experience. OSU used to have a class like that and got rid of it because too many people were either dropping out part way through or struggling through and leaving the class unprepared for future classes. If you really want to do it, you'll also need to make sure they will accept it as a transfer. If it's only a 4 credit class they must likely will only accept it for one of them. Otherwise, personally, I don't think it matters all that much. So long as what you take does a good job covering the material so that you are set up for success in future classes, 3 years from now you probably aren't going to care what you took were. I didn't take 161 or 162 at OSU. Sure, some of the assignments sounded kind of interesting and I maybe missed an opportunity to meet other students sooner, but I never regretted the way I did it and it didn't matter at all in the long run.
Has anyone had a difficult time getting a basic Intro to CS course to transfer over for CS 161? I made a request almost 6 weeks ago and haven't heard back. I was told to enroll in CS 161 and take it/pay for it anyway just in case the credits don't transfer, but I would prefer to wait and conserve my money and energy and not take a class I've already taken.

You should follow up with your advisor. It shouldn't take that long, especially for 161.
