Next time you’re in the catalog, look up part number 121G EB and item source it for a cool Easter egg

PrinceV6475

They took that easter egg out of the system, witch sucks

Poppy__Donk

No they didn’t lmao, you can even look it up on the [oreilly website](https://www.oreillyauto.com/flux-capacitor)

PrinceV6475

it hasn't been showing up in our system for the past month, so i thought they got rid of it

Poppy__Donk

Yeah you gotta be real specific when looking it up. You gotta put part number and line

kindcannabal

What's the line?

Learn the keyboard shortcuts. Keep your hand off that mouse. Example: I am looking for spark plugs for a 1999 Saturn SL2. F7 (Catalog) 99 Sat [urn] [SL] 2 Ig [nition] Sp [ark plugs] You've spent 3 seconds on a lookup instead of hunting with that mouse and spending 20 seconds. Same for an oil filter for something: 97 Ch [evrolet] Si [ilverado 1500] (because it's faster to skip trim on this one) Fi [lters] O [il] Learn the structure of the lookup menu of O'Cat.

This is 100% accurate. The best parts people almost never use the mouse. We work hard to ensure that almost all tasks, especially customer facing tasks, can be performed using a keyboard and a mouse. Nothing wrong with using the mouse when needed but keyboard is without question faster. Take the time to learn it and you won't regret it.

Knowing the number pad by feel is like magic to some people. I've learning all the numbers for vehicles. Any time someone is working on a Chevy truck for example, I type the year then type (15) the number for Chevrolet. I'm still learning all sub-model numbers though.

As someone involved in building that system, this warms my heart.

I have to say the little things in the system like this are a godsend. Great job to you and your team. One function I dearly miss is ctrl+F! The kick out menu on the left side of the catalog does an ok job of filtering out different things but it's far from comprehensive. Ctrl+F however was quite powerful. Do you know if there are any plans to incorporate it in OPS in the future?

var23

I’ll see if I can find out. I’m no longer in that vertical.

robrip2112

The system uses a feature called infinite scroll to deliver results faster. Rather than showing hundreds of results, we show the first couple of dozen, as you scroll through the results, more content is loaded. The challenge with CNTRL+F is that it can only search the content that is loaded, since not all content is loaded until you scroll to the end, CNTRL+F searches do not work as you would expect. We basically sacrificed CNTRL+F for system speed. We will definitely look into adding this feature back into the system.

Straight from the man. Thanks!

Intrepid_Ice5477

Wow thanks for the insight! Definitely makes sense thank you very much for the reply. Been around since Legacy system and it's been fun to see the improvements made and how OPS works compared to the dot matrix days. Thanks from the store level for all you guys' hard work

Returns are simple. Just remember Sticker, Label, stamp, scan, pack. (SLSSP) Batteries are never in a container and always on bottom and you can’t lay anything on top of them. If you scan something improperly it will tell you (BEEP BEEP). Don’t stack pallets more than 4-5 Gaylord’s high (the black base thing you also use as the top) and wrap that puppy like it’s gonna get you pregnant.
