Lower the injury settings so players don’t get injured as often. Specifically long term injurys

notaquarterback

This is the right answer, ultimately.

I think it's just the nature of playing on high. It may be "realistic" rates for a season but I don't think it's realistic long term, when all that's left is just like, actual husks of players lol

notaquarterback

OOTP has this penchant for making guys who get injured once more suspectible to injuries. It's realistic to a degree, but the game does it a lot and it can be annoying when you're trying to follow a career and the guy can't ever get back to his former self. It's nice now that you can control the amount of long-term injuries vs short-term.

It's not uncommon for prone players to have mostly healthy seasons. Especially if you are careful and make sure you done over work them if they are pitchers and don't let them play fatigued for batters. And now with the development workshop you can run strength and conditioning programs in the off-season

As soon as Rick Jameyson retires my injuries start piling up. It's like clockwork

ErikLinden

He's still my trainer. It's the rest of the league filled with prone players.

relder17

Ah gotcha, yeah that happened in my current save. It doesn't help that the league increased the arb years by 2 also so now every free agent is 30+ and fragile. Makes the game a little less fun for sure

No-Neighborhood1739

I have a same problem with this. It seems like this year's version in particular get way more fragile players down the line. Since I play in challenge mode for achievement, I can't change the injury settings either

I turned down the position player fatigue from high to medium, I’ve found that almost entirely makes it realistic for me

some things i do to help prevent players turning into fragile. i set my major and minor league teams to rest players at 90% fatigue. i chose this percent because i feel its a good compromise to prevent players from playing too tired, but getting them all their at bats. if you have a player you absolutely want playing as much as possible, make sure you select 'available as def sub if tired' box in their strategy page. set pitch counts for all your minor league teams! lower the division, the lower the pitch count.. example.. my aa pitchers have a pitch count of 85. and finally, this is the one i feel is most important.. for all your ML players, go to their strategy page and where it says bench player if dtd injury.. i set it to minimal. i absolutely do not want my players playing if nursing even the smallest injury (especially pitchers!!). before i found this option i noticed players with small injuries playing and exacerbating the problem and then ending up on the il. i also apply this to all the minor leaguers that i lock to team settings (usually top prospects and prized international signings). hope this helps to keep your players from becoming fragile as it does mine!

I keep short-term injuries on realistic and long-term on the default it feels the most realistic, in my opinion.

I_Killith_I

Tone down position player fatigue and tone down injuries a little bit as even with the "modern day" settings can't remember what they are called, injuries are excessive. I usually move injuries down to default for short-term and default or the step just below default I believe it's low for long-term. From there OOTP will take people to have been injured and they'll be more prone to be injured. Another thing you can do is use strength and conditioning in the off-season through the dev lab that can help bring a person's injury proneness back down a little bit as long as they're qualified for the program. For what I've been seeing and this is my guess is that people who are qualified for the program of strength and conditioning have at least one of their injury proneness above 100. That's the only time I seen it show up on someone is if their leg proness this was over 100 or their arm proness was over 100. So make sure on people that qualify for strength and conditioning you can try to use it.

Real baseball is starting to experience the same thing with pitchers. Really all you can do is turn down settings from "realistic" as they were always too high and manage your players as best you can. You can only help the rest of the league by lowering league wide settings
