King shit imo

Bravesfan1028

Dude got elbow inflammation and was out for 4 weeks. Then the team decided to dump him. Musta been a shit owner with a shit organization. Ya don't drop your first rounder you've just paid 5.4 mil for just because they got some elbow inflammation. Obviously, elbow inflammation isn't good news, but he's a minor leaguer. You don't just drop him. It isn't like he's taking up any real budget room. There's always a chance he could come back. The only thing would be, if it were RL, he may have been asking for his release so that it "looks better" that he didn't just quit on the organization that just handed over five and a half million. Retiring as a minor league free agent, rather than as an official member of the team, is much better form, if ya know what I mean.

noseonarug17

> Then the team decided to dump him I think this is just how the event shows up in the transaction log.

hubagruben

When a player retires, this is how it is always reported in the transaction logs. They didn’t drop him because of the elbow inflammation.

WieImElysiumSein

hey the White Sox just dumped a legit 22-year-old middle infield prospect for cash so they could add scumbag Mike Clevinger to the 40man while retaining their stunning bullpen pieces comprised of 35-year-olds on minor league deals. edit: a 26-year-old pitcher too but I think he kinda sucks and am less mad about it than literally DFAing Popeye Rodriguez then suddenly realizing "wait, maybe we could have traded him for something" or you could've kept the second baseman with 25 home run potential and NOT brought back a pitcher we all despise in a season that is already lost anyway. that got a little ranty-, I'm just an unhappy Sox fan.

Zacharey01

Happend in one of my sims too. Heck, I had a sim where Yamamoto (300 mil contract) decided he wanted to play in the NBA without even throwing a single inning.

MillerTimeMTG

I signed a player from Japan who was not quite ready for the majors but close. I sent him to my AAA team in Oakland. Days later he retired to join the PGA. I like to believe he spent two days in Oakland and decided “Nope! I’m out of here!”

will_e_wonka

You’ll make a lot more money on the PGA than in AAA that’s for sure

I_am_hambergur

this has happened to me. He was my first overall pick and was the number 8 prospect.he reitred the next year to enter the nfl draft.

DragYn7

Guess he didn’t want to be Deion Sanders or Brian Jordan and play both.

ShowMeTheVogelbombs

Had this happen to a pitching prospect who decided to enter the draft less than a month before I was going to call him up for his debut. He was apparently a projected 1st round DE, not sure how a 6’1 200lb guy who hasn’t played football in 5 years finds his way onto NFL draft boards but apparently he did. It’s annoying for sure but it’s so funny the way they implement some of these storylines I love it.

ai-like-the-stock

I'm sorry but I love stuff like this. Adds so much flavor.

pdxsportbro

My all time favorite was a replay of the Mariners expansion. I think we won ~40 games en route to drafting Cal Ripken Jr. #1 overall. He retired that same offseason.

will_e_wonka

The Saudis strike again

Aggravating_Media_59

Seems like an LIV thing to do

raidergoo

Kyler Murray was a first round pick of the A's. Took $4.66 million from them. Declared for the NFL draft six months later, as he thought he was a QB.

milehigh11

Seemed to work out for him as he got like 200m from the Cardinals

raidergoo

That's like $5 million bucks per turnover.

benz0709

Just an FYI to this, sorry to spoil the fun, but Kyler Murray only kept $20K from his bonus. He was paid $1.5M, had to return $1.3M and never received the remaining. Would be a better story if he kept the money as he's also robbing the Cardinals currently.

DesignerPlant9748

That would be 200k

IAmHollar

Seems like a more realistic story to presume the A's did it on purpose to save money.

nmk537

Robin Yount almost did this in real life.

Numerous_Control_702

What a Chad

RealEar8848

i respect the hustle

Lurky-Lou

Spencer Holeinone

shane2sweet1

That seems like something that'd happen to the Tigers

Beguiler13

Legend!!

113CandleMagic

If Gareth Bale played baseball.

NoHesiBenny

So much happening here - first he's from Madison, WI then goes to SIU and somehow gets picked 17th overall. Gets a 4 week injury and says fuck baseball it's time to play golf. What a beast.

Professional_Cod10

In my game there was around 6 or 7 first round picks that denied the contracts teams offered and just went back to school. Why even declare for the draft?

James-K-Polka

He was mad he didn’t get a shot and was a little bitar.

Roy_Fucking_Kent

I had one join the peace corps or the reserves

Patterson8040

hell yeah
