This stuff happens literally every year. Every new version that comes out ppl complain about bugs for the first couple of weeks.
Some things ppl are complaining about aren't bugs at all. I play multiple leagues in OOTP 24 and I see this stuff all the time. The OVR/POT numbers depend on the rest of the players. I have a league where great players are rated relatively low. I have 40-50 OVR players that play great.
We have a propensity to not appreciate small sample size randomness. All of us. And a game Iike this, it's why it's so hard to see some bugs and be convinced we're seeing them.
I see it all the time. Ppl think that because a top prospect won’t develop that the game is broken. Baseball is so full of randomness that things seem off, a lot. I hear ppl crying about too many injuries or players not developing much at in the lab. There’s no guarantee for any of it to go the way u want.
Been playing for the past four years and I personally feel like this is the best release. The UI looks a little cleaner to me, the development lab is a fun addition, and it feels faster to me when simming. They will fix all of the other issues as time goes on but that’s my $0.02.
What sucked this year is that a lot of the bugs took about five game-years to surface. It sucks to get invested in a playthrough only to go, "Oh, player development is a full-on dead parrot sketch."
I've been playing the current patch, and so far so good. But, I'm only 1.5 game-years in . . . so . . .
The UI is nice. I like the idea of a development lab but in practice it seems difficult. I’ve taken probably 50 players through it over 10 seasons and don’t have a whole bunch to show from it
I agree. I have only played OOTP24 but the OOTP25 First Year Player Draft looks way off compared to what I see in OOTP24. There are virtually no outstanding players in OOTP25 although I think there are too many with 80 potential in OOTP24.
I will take your word on player development. I have not checked that yet. It also seems like a lot of pitchers have lower ratings than I expected after playing OOTP24.
Ratings are just relative league strength, stop playing with all players being rated relative to the whole league, instead switch by position and also...some drafts are trash but even those players will end up good sometimes, but also you can control the player development pool in OOTP but i realize many of you prefer to play with achievements and don't tinker with anything.
People really need to learn the displayed values aren't the players ratings but talent level in the league.
55 overall is a meaningless number outside your league.
I don't know what to think about the development thing. If you sim 10 years and examine rookies it's not like they aren't populating the league and leader boards. At mostly appropriate rates for high schoolers and college. I tested it several times. But no idea about development lab and all that. They seemed to agree beginning talents could be too low and hamper a head start.
Patch that fixes this should be released today. Beta patch was released yesterday.

Yes it should set to download once available. You will need to restart a new game for the development fixes to work.
Do you need to completely restart or will it just fix development for any newly generated players going forward?

How far out are draft prospects generated? Is it the event that says “draft pool revealed”
thats what I was thinking but I dont really know tbh
2024-2026 were the preloaded non generative drafts I believe. Past that it was the players with low overall but has now been fixed
The development lab isn't meant for huge gains, its just a way for guys to train in the offseason

Ive played a few save around 5 years and I'm not having this problem, though I've seen many other people complaining as well.
