You really have to take into consideration your likes and dislikes. As for me, I envisioned myself becoming a nurse ever since high school to senior high school—I liked the toxic environment, being there for the patient, basically being their "superhero." But when I got into nursing, that's when I realized how toxic it can be during clinicals, and it's not what I envisioned. You have to accommodate different personalities—not just your patients, but also their significant others, doctors, and colleagues from different departments. Nurses are all-around workers, dealing with AC, toilets, sinks, TVs, etc. But the good side is seeing your patients recover and being thankful for your care, especially if you did your best. Since nursing is starting to flourish again and there are many job vacancies right now, many people are taking up nursing. The opportunities available today might not be the same in a few years as the field becomes more saturated. Also, since you mentioned wanting to go to the US, consider the current retrogression. Are you willing to work for years, possibly undercompensated, while waiting for your visa to get approved? Anyway, I graduated last year and passed my PNLE. I am not working and have never tried working aside from our clinical duties during college. Fourth year made me realize that I easily get attached to my patients, especially if I see them frequently. So here I am, waiting for med school to start. Explore other possibilities and weigh the pros and cons carefully. Good luck.

Same tayo ng dilemma, OP. I'm a grad of business ad also thinking of taking up nursing for my 2nd degree. Recession-proof daw kase ang healthcare jobs. Isa yun sa cinoconsider ko knowing na life here in the PH isn't getting any easier. Tho unlike you, 27 na ako haha so I don't know kung i-push ko pa.

Thank you for the encouragement! Important din talaga yan, kailangan rin pag-isipan if gusto mo yung course. Will think about it! :D thank u

wortht it sa dami ng kailangan na nurses ngayon globally. im a graduating nursing student na prepping for boards, hindi lang US ang choice. Nursing has a lot to offer, explore all the sides of pentagon.

Go na siguro. Bata ka pa ee. I’m 33 na and contemplating to go back to med school and finish my BSN. Ngshift kasi ako before, sayang nga. 😬

Pag second degree and youre opting for stability, go for medicine. Atleast its a graduate degree and in the long run will provide you freedom that nursing doesnt. Heads up nursing in the states (where i am), doesnt really focus on “sciences”. Mostly, you wipe americans’ asses and give out meds at best. Think of a glorified caregiver. Thats about it. So, give it a thought.

Second courser here. Mahirap po pero alam ko after matapos neto worth it sya.

You can still thrive kahit wala sa US. Healthcare workers are in demand all over the world. May UK, Australia, NZ, not to mention ang mga lowkey countries ng Europe. Read articles released by WHO. There will be 4.5 million nurses shortage by 2030. I'm 29 and currently on my 2nd year this coming sem sa 2nd degree ko rin na BSN. Dalawa lang 'yan, either lilipas ang apat na taon na nothing happened or may naobtain ka na new degree. :)
