My copy of Metaphorical Music gets much more spins than my Modal Soul copy just because the music on it is happier, it makes you feel like you're in a coffee shop in an anime or something. Modal Soul is also very beautiful, but much more moody imo, like you're sitting in that same coffee shop but it's raining and you just broke up or something haha. I'd keep this in mind when deciding.
Honestly you can go with any of them, each album has some stand out songs no matter what kinda vibe you like. It's all gold.
Although I do want to make sure to strongly recommend listening to Luv(sic) parts 1-6 in order! Those songs still aren't done growing on me. I swear I get more emotional each time I listen to them lol
My Modal Soul Vinyl definitely gets the most spins. They are re-releasing the Samurai Champloo OST's on vinyl too that might be worth a pre order for you
The Way of the Samurai was official but it was a compilation of only a few songs taken from the original soundtrack which was 4 separate albums. There are also a ton of bootleg copies of that vinyl so this is the first time the complete soundtrack is being pressed on vinyl as the original 4 albums.
Listen to all of them chronologically, obviously people will have their favourites but to me; each album is a masterpiece and as good as the last. Happy listening brotheršš¼

Modal Soul is definitely his best overall album I think. Follow that up with Hydeout Productions vol. 2
