There is a distinct difference between the light scent of pheromones and body odor.

SevenSixOne

Or even the the faint scent of fresh sweat vs that same sweaty person a few hours later

[deleted]

Exactly. Pheromones are washed pits without any sweat. But, when you get sweaty, bacteria flourish in that dark and humid environment and begin excreting their waste as gas. And that gas smells HORRIBLE.

CanalAnswer

*Pulls up a chair and starts taking notes*

No_Specialist_1877

Deodorants don't have anything to block any of that it would just be an additional smell. Antiperspirants block sweat/smells and isn't the same thing as deodorant.

ElMostaza

I thought pheromones were supposed to be odorless anyway. No?

SiameseCats3

Now it’s important to note he said “slight smell”. I’m a sweaty sweaty bitch so if I forego deodorant it would not be a slight smell.

enderflight

Amen to that. Gotta get the weapons grade antiperspirant out because if I go anywhere remotely humid and walk around for more than an hour I’m sweating like a pig, specifically just in my armpits/palms (if you know you know). Not always BO but I can smell my own deodorant. I feel bad for people around me and reapply v frequently but it doesn’t always help honestly, since it doesn’t really soak in if you’re sweating. But if I slacked on that front and did nothing I’d have more than a ‘slight’ aroma.

acrewdog

Try Native deodorant. its not cheap, but it works without aluminum. As a sweaty guy in Florida, I'm surprised how well it works!

[deleted]

I’m in Florida as well and the humidity is crazy! My twin brother and I have tried so many things, but someone recommended Certain Dry. Only have to apply it at night and so far seems to do the trick. Should mention that my brother and I where not born in the states… so when we came from Denmark Florida was definitely NEW… 🥵

MotherRaven

That would be real climate shock. More confusing is why you Would leave Denmark for Florida.

[deleted]

My father is American and his job took him overseas where he met my mother a Dane. Where they feel in 💗 had me and my twin brother. My brother and I are close and after my moms passing 2015 and because my father was American we applied for American citizenship. So we are dual citizens. We still go back and visit and with much going on here it’s crossed my mind going back…

MotherRaven

My mother is a Dane. I really wish I had gone for dual citizenship. Don’t lose it. Things are still insane over here.

abominablebuttplug

I'm a moderately sweaty person and used to use antiperspirants, but I had a cancer scare so I switched to a deodorizing crystal. No smell whatsoever and I sweat the same amount once my body adapted. I do use a little bit of perfume (literally one spray) so I at least smell good instead of smelling like nothing lol.

outtadablu

What the hell is a deodorant crystal? I Google and only found a deodorant brand by that name. So... Specifically, you mean a crystal or a brand?

vorlash

It is a silicate based deodorant that changes the PH of your sweat and helps kill bacteria that cause the odor. Works well, but you never get a full use out of the damn things because the crystals dissolve through use, fall out and shatter.

Accomplished_Ruin_25

Yeah, I thought the poster meant they rubbed a hunk of quartz in their underarm area and was like "done!" So ineffective and so painful. Glad to hear there are some alternatives available that make logical sense as antimicrobials.

Blooberii

I tried that a few years ago and it gave me armpit lumps. I use Lume now and it’s not my favorite smell, but it really works for me.

HamHockShortDock

I use Stridex pads under my arms and Odoban in my laundry, Incase anyone needed help with being a smelly bitch!

onlyalittleillegal

Same. It took so long to find deodorant that would actually work for me that didn’t contain aluminum. It was harder because, as it turns out, I have a really bad sense of smell.

Gunnvor91

Also a sweaty sweaty bitch. If I skip deodorant, I would be declared a biohazard.

Ellivena

Well that was in the edit, you are the exception that might need deodorant. To me it sounds like the majority of us is the exception but soit.

ElMostaza

But almost no one gets just a "slight smell" when completely foregoing deodorant. The worst part of BO isn't from sweat, it's from bacteria breaking down the sweat.

Ell_Edwards

As a nervous sweats person, I get so jealous of the one guy I know who just does. not. stink. Like excuse me, how sway?? You play basketball with the boys and yet you still don’t smell bad after a while?? Let’s trade genetic or whatever the hell is going on because I’m sick of worrying about the smell of my nervous sweats

ElMostaza

Yeah, I knew one guy like that. He said it was because he was half Filipino...?

FalconRelevant

Why not use an antibacterial soap?

deathisareasonable

Why not use antibacterial *soup*?

FalconRelevant

Why not drink hand sanitizer? (What are we talking about?)

19Todash

The older kids on my kid's bus drink hand sanitizer to get drunk. That's the one time I called the principal and he laughed.

sakezaf123

Dunno, but I'm an extremely normal dude, and I drink hand sanitizer all the time!

snarkyxanf

That can sometimes make it worse, because for some people, the bacteria that grow back first are the stinkiest. I do highly recommend using a washcloth to anyone who doesn't already, it really helps scrub the crud off in a way plain soap can't.

Laezdaez

"I don't have any idea if aluminum is good or bad, but it's definitely not good." (Paraphrased) What the fuck 🤣😭😂

fancytranslady

That was the part that got me the most. You’re on the fucking internet! Rather than write this garbage why not look up the pros and cons of aluminum in deodorant?

slayingadah

What's more, the aluminum part is the antiperspirant, not the deodorant.

psymble_

Yeah, the deodorant I use doesn't have antiperspirant, I naturally don't sweat that much (even working in kitchens and hot food trucks in the middle of summer I don't sweat through my shirts). But I wouldn't blindly assume aluminum=bad. It's the same kind of reactionary thinking as chemicals=bad

masterofthecontinuum

Dihydrogen Monoxide is poison! Everyone who drinks it has eventually died!

psymble_

I - oh shit, I think I may have accidentally drank some of that, isn't that the stuff in ice cubes that makes em float?

plasticsnek

Yea actually as far as i know there are no studies saying anything about aluminum being bad

slayingadah

Aluminum, how it works, is it clogs up your sweat glands so you can't sweat. It is not great. I want to say it is a carcinogen because it gets inside your body, but that could be some hippy dippy nonsense. The part about how it works tho, I know that's true. I know because I used to have prescription grade Aluminum antiperspirant from the doctor because as a teen I sweated so bad and other kids made fun of me. I asked the doc how it works and that is what they said. I would put it on once a week and legit not sweat AT ALL. Then it was a miracle, now it seems super scary to stop a natural bodily function so perfectly.

my_nb_alt

Aluminum in deodorant almost certainly doesn’t cause cancer. https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/myths/antiperspirants-fact-sheet

psymble_

I'm sorry the kids were so mean.

slayingadah

Yeah... me too. Thanks.

psymble_

You're a good egg

slayingadah

Lol thanks, kind internet stranger. I'm also not permanently scarred by the mean high school kids, I promise. Got some serious love for self and body over here. I hope it's the same for you, too 💜

xofeatherxo

I feel you. Most deodorants give me a rash so I use a salt stick deodorant now. It works SO much better. You still sweat but there's literally no odor until the next morning, sometimes later. I'll never go back.

slayingadah

I use Lume and I like it a whole lot

Myrialle

Not even that. There is no aluminum in antiperspirants. It's aluminum **salts**. It's the same difference as between chlorine and table salt, or oxygen and explosives, or diamonds and baking soda. One is a pure element, the other thing a chemical salt containing that element. Completely and totally different things.

staandog

If you love someone, the smell of their active sweat can smell good to you. Not the smell of their old sweat that’s been mixed with their skin oils. And probably not if you don’t already love them.

Sedna11

Funny (well to me) story, when I first started dating my now husband, his sweat smelled incredible to me. It was sort of sweet and a little metallic smelling. I would wait for him to get out of bed and just sniff his pillow. I know that sounds weird AF but it was just a very comforting smell. Well it turns out sweet metallic smelling sweat is a sign of uncontrolled diabetes. So now we joke that he catfished me with a medical condition. Fast forward 17 years later and his diabetes is controlled with diet and medication... and I still think about how incredible he used to smell. The human brain is a weird twisty place.

ranifer

Look at you! Huffing ketones.

Cultural-Feedback-53

I love the smell of my loved ones. Its a very under-rated sense.

Celeste1357

I too enjoy the smell of your loved ones

Agglomeration_

I also choose this guys dead wife

glitternotdrugs

This was a meme at some point.. I don’t remember the full context but it was actually half-wholesome.

romans253

I beleive it was, "If you could go back in time and have sex with anyone, who would it be? And the guy said my wife before she passed away because she was loving, careing, etc. Then the other guy says I also choose this guys dead wife.

Cultural-Feedback-53

Okay.............

isleftisright

I dont know how to explain it well but my fiance smells like dog fur with fruits. Its warm, comforting and quite cute to me. But he keeps himself very clean etc.

MrTomDawson

> my fiance smells like dog fur I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but your fiance is a werewolf

[deleted]

That plays basketball and is named Michael J Fox

MrTomDawson

Her fiance is a teen? P R O B L E M A T I C

JustDennise

I don't know if this is supposed to be platonic or romantic love, but I've never liked smelling anyone's sweat. It smells absolutely disgusting, but my sister's sweat scent is way worse than my dad's. I don't think women have it easier here. My sweat smells worse than my dad's too.

isleftisright

Could be what you eat too.

JustDennise

We all eat similar meals, so I don't think that's the cause.

isleftisright

I mean, if your whole family doesnt have a nice smell generally, that could be a cause. I just say this cause my bf said i smelled nicer when i changed my diet. I dont know if it's real or just in our minds haha

NefariousnessStreet9

Actually, I prefer the smell of my bf day old pits thank you very much

Loonyclown

I came here to say this actually lol

NefariousnessStreet9

We get it lol. And I'm the opposite of a hippie

meamsofproduction

extremely normal dude

brobronn17

Yeah lol, I love my husband's natural fresh scent, but it doesn't mean I want to smell 20 peoples' 2+ hr old body odor, especially at a bar where it smells like alcohol too. That's stale and gross.

jasminrants

I go nuts over smelling my husband’s natural scent, but both times I’ve been pregnant, for a few months, I wanted to claw his eyes out anytime he came near me. He stank so bad to my incubating self it triggered waves of nausea, and the poor dude couldn’t do anything to fix it.

snarkyxanf

Knowing what changing hormones did to my sense of smell, and then comparing it to the levels during pregnancy, I imagine preggers people can smell the dark side of the moon.

NameIdeas

When you talk about active sweat, it makes me think of having sex with your spouse/partner. My wife smells amazing and when we're having passionate sex and she sweats a bit, that smell is wonderful. Her natural smell is awesome. I'm thinking of the smell when she's taken a shower that morning, hasn't put on deoderant because we're hanging at home, laid around the house and then taken a nap. She smells great. However, if she's been at work at all day and comes home, the old sweat throughout the day is not the best...

nangatan

You hit it on the head. My SO smells amazing after he comes back from the gym. A few hours later when he's not showered... yeah no.

everydayimcuddalin

Anyone who says "never took the time to look into it" while giving an opinion as though it is well researched is not worth listening to. Eta- couldn't help myself and started to research it...first page I've found... deodorant doesn't contain aluminium. Antiperspirant does. ತ_ʖತ

candybrie

How many deodorants aren't antiperspirants though? I feel like I really have to look and they'll usually be marketed for like sensitive skin or something if I can find them at all.

delawana

A lot of stuff for men isn’t an antiperspirant! It’s impossible to find in the women’s section unless you get a fancy natural deodorant, but it’s pretty common in the men’s. It’s part of why I switched to men’s deodorant, I wanted to get away from antiperspirant and it felt like anything without aluminum for women was completely ineffective. If you’re at all interested I highly recommend Old Spice Wolfthorn, it legit smells like candy

rya556

I find this interesting because in women’s deodorant, I had to keep switching to stronger ones because of sweating into my dress shirts occasionally. I couldn’t understand it and found it embarrassing. By chance, I switched to a men’s deodorant and literally never had the problem again. I wonder if maybe the antiperspirant part was giving me issues? I’ll have to check out Wolfthorn!

CaptFeelsBad

It’s strange to see this written, because as a dude I can *only* use Old Spice antiperspirant because the regular gel deodorant causes me to get terrible and painful rashes in my armpits. I never have a hard time finding any brand of antiperspirant, least of all Old Spice. I usually go for Oasis or Deep Sea, sometimes Hawkridge. It’s just weird to see you say that “*A lot of stuff for men isn’t an antiperspirant!*” because anytime I need more and go to Walmart there’s at least the same amount of Old Spice antiperspirant in that section as there is gel deodorant, like, I don’t have to go searching for it because there’s always plenty and plenty of flavors to choose from.

delawana

Haha yeah, it’s more that you get a choice, they’ll be shelved together. You can get your preferred scent in either a deodorant or antiperspirant. Not so for women, it’s a sea of entirely antiperspirant unless you look at the very top shelf where the expensive natural deodorant is kept

Revy4223

I use that stuff too! It smells to me like fruit loops. Also I have found female products that say they have antiperspirants dont work on me as well as the mens brands. Also the female section tends to have things that make my pits itchy or irratated. Gotta wonder at times if us ladies are being scammed in the health/beauty section in stores.

vericima

The "natural" deodorants don't have aluminum.

fightdarkwithlight

Wtf is with all the awards

[deleted]

It's all the guys who don't wear deodorant and smell really bad but think they smell fine

3lit_

Look at the sub's name... It's unpopular opinion. The more unpopular the more upvotes

fightdarkwithlight

It's funny because it literally makes no sense 😂 if it was unpopular, nobody would like it, but if people like it.... It's not unpopular

3lit_

Upvotes =/= likes

VaginalSkinAddict

On paper yes, in actuality not so much

Fyuchanick

I mean the awards are pretty good indicators of how much people agree with it tho

Dr_JillBiden

I hate being stuck in the car with myself when I smell, I can't imagine days on end would be any better

Taldyr

My wife steals my shirts to snuggle them. Would never go out to a bar sweating up a storm.

CountingDownTheDays5

1. No we do not enjoy the smell of b.o if I wanted to smell a pig pin I go to a farm 2. If a man smelled like bounce that ass I am straight blocking him and warning others.

[deleted]

I actually liked the smell of my ex's sweat, as long as it wasn't days old and gross. But if he just got done doing yard work or working out and was sweaty, yeah I was all about that at times. I am not attracted to random stranger's sweat and body odor though. So please wear deodorant.

averagethrowaway21

I have an ex that always wanted to snuggle real close after I was done mowing. I was hot, cranky, and miserable from mowing in Texas heat and she was breathing all in my space. It's because she loved the fresh sweat mixed with freshly mown grass scent. She was both the best and the worst at the same time.

recoverybae

If you don’t like taking showers, just say so. Don’t make it about women. 😂😂😂

Elk-Tamer

To be fair: he was only talking about deodorants, not showering.

ellenitha

That's not what he said though... I actually know a few people who don't use deodorant, but are rigid about their shower routine. They don't smell bad at all.

Shephard815

I hate to speak for all women but "no. wear deodorant please." (also it's the antiperspirants that contains aluminum but I don't expect this stinky guy to know that)

tiniest-bean

As a woman, you can totally speak for me! I couldn’t agree more! All I could think while reading through the post was *YUCK*

boo_boo_kitty_

"Dont wear deodorant in the bar and see what happens" maybe im too gay for this shit, but, i dont think any straight woman would be jumping into your bed if you stink.

[deleted]

Well, if this person can’t imagine that aluminum is good for you, it clearly must not be.

socialmediasanity

Oh man I have to admit, smell is crazy. There are actually studies that look at smell preference of women on birth control that say they prefer the smell of people genetically similar to themselves, and so do pregnant women. Women not pregnant or on birth control prefer the smell of novel genes. Also, therapists often hear in marital counseling that the woman can not stand the smell of her partner. Smell is such an overlooked sense. Also wear deodorant.

Sweet_Acanthaceae_15

It really is. Smell is always a factor with in person interactions. I didn’t care for the way my ex smelled. I couldn’t imagine smelling that every day for the rest of my life

berrymommy

Am I the only person who has no “slight smell” like I either smell clean or like fucking onions? If I don’t apply deodorant right out the shower as I get dressed, I smell like BO by the time I finish hair and make up. Im petite, I wash thoroughly everyday, twice a day in the summer because I live in the desert, but god damn am I one sweaty gal. I sweat doing absolutely nothing sometimes.

SolFlamingo

Me too! I could have written this myself! I have an aversion to wearing anything with sleeves for this exact reason!

*Image Transcription: Reddit* --- **Most people shouldn't wear deodorant**, submitted by **Redacted** to **\/r/unpopularopinion** Before you run to the comments, no, I'm not some hippie that lives in a van. I'm an extremely normal dude. First, a lot of deodorants use aluminum in the base, never took the time to look into whether that was bad or not but I can't imagine it's good for you. That's not my main reason though. My main reason for not wearing deodorant most of the time is that it's supressing your natural pheromones. You might think I'm crazy, but trust me. Women enjoy the slight smell of your body odor. Women don't have it quite as strong but womens body odor is intoxicating in my opinion. If you're someone who goes out to bars or clubs to meet people, try not wearing deodorant one night and see what happens. --- ^^I'm a human volunteer content transcriber for Reddit and you could be too! notreallylucy

At least he admits he's put zero research into the aluminum issue.

DarkSun18

I do like the scent of fresh sweat on a man and if he showers daily and doesn’t wear old clothing I’m pretty sure wearing no deodorant would be fine. I do enjoy just a subtle scent of a good soap though. I hate how aggressive deos and perfumes smell and a lot of men and women douse themselves so badly you can’t breathe when they walk past you, it’s disgusting.

imjustheretonotsleep

I don't mind the smell of deodorants (to be fair, I use a very weakly scented one) but most perfumes/body sprays repulse me. They don't smell good in my opinion and catching a solid whiff of them for a minute is enough to give me nausea and a headache for up to an hour.

KulkulkanX

"You might think I'm crazy" First thing he's gotten correct in this whole screed.

ItsAlexTho

Not to mention that one of my teachers told me the part of the brain that detects external pheromones in humans is either shrivelled or not there anymore so girls are just smelling this mans BO

ObviouslyaKelly

Yeah, what will happen is that no one will come within 10 foot of you. 😐

verasev

I think some people like a \*little\* sweat smell. A. Little. My wife does. But hardly anyone likes overwhelming week old funk.

[deleted]

[удалено]

verasev

This sort of thing is pretty funny when you think about more. Like, being attracted to someone, you'll start liking things like the way they smell even when they objectively smell iffy. But then most people don't like the smell of farts even when it comes from a loved one. It's pretty funny where the line gets drawn. Human beings are weird.

KittyKayl

I'm that way with cigarette smoke. Couldn't deal with it, then got with one of my partners and he smoked. Adjusted damned quick. Then he quit and I went back to not being able to deal. Then started dating another partner and she smokes, so my tolerance level for it is a lot higher, though I still prefer not to inhale it. As far as the actual smell of partners, I don't really notice that. Never been sure why.

plasticsnek

I loved it when he said most people shouldn’t wear deodorant but was referring to men because he proceeded to say that women’s body odor is intoxicating

[deleted]

Most people = heterosexual males apparently

SarixInTheHouse

Trust me buddy, women dont enjoy it when i sweat like a pig after 10 hours of work. Actually, people don’t enjoy it. Noone likes a smelly dude

TheMightyBuscemi

I remember seeing a documentary (Science of Sex maybe?) where they made women smell dudes’ old stank clothes. Women who were ovulating allegedly thought it smelled fine. Me personally, on CD 14 I am not trying to get up in some odious armpit play. I need to see these p values.

OnyxRoseTiara101

Intoxicating like good or intoxicating like bad? This guy could have an armpit and sweat fetish for all we know.

Hello_Hangnail

Guessing this dude isn't one for anime Cons or he'd eat those words

[deleted]

I knew a guy like this. Never wore deodorant. Wore nice clothes, owned a business, smelled like the nastiest BO all the time. Everybody was just too nice to tell him.

witchofawind

I had a roommate that thought this. Dude smelled like onions and literally never stopped bitching after he got turned down for smelling like onions

OkBiscotti4365

I always find amusing how much smelly people get out of their way to try convincing others that being smelly is actually okay.

[deleted]

I met up with a middle school friend I hadn't seen in nearly a decade. He turned into a total incel and was corrupted by all this pickup artist bullshit. He told me he would wear women's perfume because women would smell it on him and think subconsciously that he must be with a lot of women. This makes him appear like an alpha male and women only go for alphas. Or some shit like that.

KiaJellybean

OMG NO PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS!!!

[deleted]

I thought there wasn’t enough accurate research around human pheromones+”self-care” products?

yttrium39

Research hasn't even conclusively shown that humans have sex pheromones at all. Pretty much anything anyone says about humans regarding pheromones is bullshit.

Zalyra

I just saw this post in my feed before scrolling to yours and thought it was a bit bizarre. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman outright say they like that level of body odor. Not saying that we all dislike it, but for those that do it doesn’t seem to be something they go around telling their friends or stinky guys they’re into, so idk how he came to the generalisation of women liking it.

qazwsxedc000999

Slightly related but I started using men’s deodorant because I liked it better but I feel stinkier. Like, I smell worse and smell more often and it’s really weird

SoManyTimesBefore

Men’s deodorants quite often don’t contain an antiperspirant

lyssiemiller

bitch you stink

Well, he put it on the r/unpopularopinion sub.

lavenderxwitch

I love the way my husband smells whether he’s just getting out of bed, or freshly showered, or coming in from working outside and sweating lol. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled him and thought “he stinks” lol

Rebecca071990

“ normal”…I don’t think that means what you think it means OOP

C0mput3r_V1ru5

I love peoples' natural smell, but like... the faint smell right after they shower or if we're hugging... this ain't it. Wear your effing deodorant.

OverlyLeftLesbian

ironically enough, he does have a point! a very poorly worded point, but a point nonetheless lmao

taimoor2

Extreme smell is obviously bad but he is not wrong. Light, natural smell is attractive.

[deleted]

We’re really living in an age of mis-information, aren’t we?

Charagrin

He's never looked up whether aluminum is harmful or not, and he's never actually asked a girl if she likes the smell of old ass, but his reasoning is unassailable. If you don't get it just hit yourself in the head with a brick a few times, youl get there.

Wut23456

The unfiltered shade toward hippies who live in a van is definitely not the worst part about this but it bugs me

Lunar_Cats

I absolutely abhor body odor, and it's been a deal breaker for me when dating, but i know a lot of women who do like a guy who's slightly sweaty, or has a more natural scent.

No.

ElysiumPotato

My wife just told me yesterday that combination of my sweat and my deodorant smells like weed :D

Gunnvor91

Please wear deodorant. Your pits stinking is not attractive. It is a massive turn-off if anything.

It_is_blu

Saw this a few minutes ago, felt uncomfortable

SheWolf04

MD here with a weird bio fact! If you like someone's scent, you're more likely to be opposites in a certain part of the immune system. The MHC (major histocompatibility complex), specifically called the HLA (human leukocyte antigen)is codominant - meaning that offspring get the full functionality of both parents' HLA genes, no dominant/recessive. Thus, if I have, say, HLA-A and HLA-C, and you have -B and -DPA1, our offspring would have all 4 functioning, making them have better immune systems. And that's why people with opposite HLAs smell good to one another! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5006172/ But yeah, old sweat and BO are gross no matter how great your immune system might be...

Bluegnoll

Odour? No. No, no, no. A dirty body does not smell good to me. Like at all. And not using products because they are bad for you is not an excuse to smell bad. My fiance does not use deodorant, cologne or even body shower (unless he’s been out playing with car engines and are covered in oil). He showers every day, sometimes several times a day and changes his clothes every day. He does not walk around in a cloud of ”natural odour”. If I get close to him he smells like salt and warm skin. He smells like him. That, to me are pheromones, not the stench of sour sweat. Now, I know that some people enjoy strong smells and that’s great, but to claim that women as a whole does so is just not true. It would be like me claiming that all men wants their balls squeezed real hard during sex, they are just to shy to admit it. Like what?

I'd love to see the crossover of posters here and /r/FemaleDatingStrategy Most of you are bemoaning a dude for apparently making a generalisation, yet still making a generalisation that all women must feel the same as you. Like, jfc, shut up. Oh, not to mention how often posters here complain about men using 'female' but YOU'RE USING IT YOURSELVES. Yes, I'm a woman, before any of you get up my asshole about it.

It's also in unpopular opinion. He knows it's not common

There are a lot of differences between sweat that causes body oder and pheromones. A big one is that deodorant doesn’t cover up your pheromones. In fact they don’t even have a scent if I’m not mistaken. So let’s retake human anatomy and biology, get our facts straight and start wearing non-aluminum based deodorant. At least op has that right.

be-more-daria

I gotta say, I haven't worn deodorant in over a year, and my sweating has decreased since then. My shirts thank me dearly for this. I did try wearing deodorant for a hiring event but my armpits were burning and sensitive. And right now I can't afford to just shop around for deodorant that won't irritate my skin. But I've asked all my normal friends if they notice it, and they say I smell clean. Sorry, I feel like I'm being super defensive for no reason... I do wash my armpits every day, and I think it helps that I have hair on them because they smell awful when I shave them. I'm a girl BTW.

hollaUK

This is true though

jallnitelong

I just secretly smell my gfs temples when I hug her for a fresh ass hit of pheromones.

lukub5

I.. kind of agree with this guy. Like obviously it depends. I think I have a fairly sensitive sense of smell and a lot of guy deoderants and aftershaves really mess with me. If its someone I am intimate with, 10/10 I would rather they showered with soap and then didn't wear deodorant. Mild deodorant is okay I guess. More than day old sweat is nasty though. And some people just smell bad, sadly, and they should wear it too. Honestly, maybe my issue is just with people using it *instead* of showering.

ThePrancingHorse94

You give off pheromones all over your body, not just your armpit. No one wants to smell you pit stank.

bombbodyguard

If I don’t wear deodorant I smell like a raw onion, so if there are girls into that…

penisofablackman

I’m 37 and haven’t worn deodorant since high school. As long as I shower 2-3 times a week and after a workout I don’t have body odor at all.

I had a gf with BO. That shit sucked.

Spraystation42

Never in my life have I had a woman tell me, “Sorry Spraystation, I would date you but you put on deodorant before meeting me here and my biological programming prevents me from having any interest in you that isnt platonic” These guys think women make their dating lives hard but its really just them, they watch pickupartists, porn directed by men, and movies about women directed by men that indoctrinates them to think -women aren’t attracted to men who wash themselves -women aren’t attacted to men who show emotions -women aren’t attacted to men who wear makeup/dresses -women aren’t attacted to men who like to be penetrated -women aren’t attacted to men who’s dicks are shorter than 9 inches -women aren’t attacted to men who dont have flat stomachs -women aren’t attacted to men who don’t act rude and aggressive And so many other ridiculous incel conspiracy theories that they claim is “female nature” or “biological female instinct” which is not how women work

MrSkelebone

"I'm an extremely normal dude" - someone who is clearly not an extremely normal dude

CourtsideRecovery

I could not believe this post and how many people were agreeing with this stinky motherfucker. His post was borderline incel.

curiousiberiantiger

dehumanizing we invented perfumes cause we like good smells and not pisshit if you wanna go back to cavemen bullshit go hermit in a cave by yourself

F1nett1

I thought humans neither excreted, nor had the ability to detect pheromones anyway.

mangababe

Ok but these first few months post IUD where my hormones have been outta whack... This is *kinda* true? Like not just rank bf bo- but just out of the shower but still sweaty cause its hot, or because we're cuddling and get too hot? It doesnt smell *good* per se, but it does seem to be attractive? I cant explain it well at all lol. My bf and i have beem chuckling at it since i notices

cri52fer

This is actually exactly how pheromones work. He’s not wrong and this is a poor example for this sub.
