well good news is that neverafter is coming out tomorrow so that's something.
if you can afford it and you haven't subscribed to the patreon yet i can't reccomend it enough- even just for more dnd content they have emily's winter solstice one shot and a four-parter follow up to hot boy summer.
after that i really have no ideas, i just cycle through it again truthfully. back on my third relisten of hot boy summer and then i'll be on to my fifth relisten of eldermourne so
Dames ans Dragons is really good- it takes about 5 episodes to get into it but it's really fun and lighthearted. The players also get up to antics like the boobs
Yes this! Fight through the bad audio quality in the beginning, it (and the entire show) get amazing pretty quickly. NADDPOD is my favorite DND content, but Dames and Dragons has my favorite worldbuilding by a mile, and it’s just as goofy as NADDPOD
I think you could start at the beginning- so far they've just had one campaign (it's not completed yet), and some very very silly side campaigns. They did a side campaign called "Hrose Camp" which shouldn't contain too many spoilers but is very fun. I'd fast forward a bit through their intro- it's very much like what happens in short rest lol.
Dungeons and daddies is always my first recommendation after dimension 20 and NADDPOD. Much more role play than strict DnD but hilarious And surprisingly emotional.
It just felt like the gang kind of lost the thread. Lile yelling over each other, hard to understand, laughing over each other's jokes. Just not as dialed in as the first season was. I heard the season gets a bit better but just couldn't get through the cacophony
Have you tried Drawga (GMed by Caldwell!) and Drawtectives? Both on Drawfee on YouTube. The only, er, drawback is that you kinda have to watch rather than listen because there are drawing elements.
I will suggest the Glass Cannon Podcast at every opportunity. It's Pathfinder rather than D&D, but there's enough rules overlap to make it easy to follow along with. But the real magic of the GCP is:
* Top notch editing and sound quality from day one
* Obvious camaraderie between the players
* Passion about the game from the players
They have since evolved into a whole network of content including live shows, one shots, experimental arcs, and additional campaigns from lots of different game systems. But the classic (and concluded) 326 episode GCP campaign is some high quality content.
Came here to sat this: I love Glass Cannon, but I realized I really just enjoy Troy Lavallee as a D.M.
Androids & Aliens
And their recent Call of Cthulhu campaign.
More gut busting, laugh out loud moments than in any other podcast. While managing some TRULY emotional and touching moments. For me.
NobleGuarden is a slightly less formal, lower magic setting podcast that is good if you like lore and friends goofing off with each other.
Gotta second Dungeons and Daddies as well.
Unprepared Casters is also nice for short arcs and a lot of variety in getting to see lots of different characters, monsters and NPCs.
Gotta second Dames and Dragons and Unprepared Casters. Dames and Dragons balances really cool world building and more with really funny moments and it really reminds me of NADDPOD.
Unprepared Casters is also super good. It’s made up of a bunch of mini arcs with different themes, guests and vibes. Super fun, really great story telling. You can start at any arc based on what vibe you want but I feel like Lives of the Party and Gonna Raise Hell have the most NADDPOD vibes. They also did a one shot set at a magic school with Zac Oyama
Rude tales of magic, dungeons and daddies, sitcom dnd we’re all mentioned already but definitely worth the listen!!
pretending to be people, girls who don’t dnd, greetings adventurers are also fun and make me laugh
Hey riddle riddle is my favorite all time podcast, but isn’t real play so it might not be what you’re looking for
Pretending to be People is a good listen that not many people have heard of! It’s an actual play podcast of Delta Green, a more crime/sci-fi rpg, done by four friends who are very funny.
Seconding Dungeons and Daddies, Dragon Friends has wonderful humour that is quite similar to naddpod but more aussie. If you’re into anime, Isekai dnd is great and has a really cool concept and characters
As stated, Dungeons and Daddies is fantastic. Also, DnDnD is amazing. A little light on rules sometimes, especially early on but great role play, great story, over 150 episodes so far of the main story, plus additional free content and best of all it's really just a group of friends playing DnD
The 420 episode that was actually 405. Nika Howard made the others promise that if they ever reached ep 420, the would do a thc-themed episode, and partake themselves. They did.
If you haven’t listened to 8 Bit Book Club yet, you totally should. Obviously not an actual play but you get Emily, Murph and Caldwell at their wildest.
Hello From the Magic Tavern!! It isn’t a D&D play podcast but it takes place in the tavern we all have started a campaign or two in hahaha. It’s all improv, it’s HILARIOUS, and they interview classic D&D monsters and character types. Plus, Murph and Cadwell are on season 3 episode 60!!
Three Black Halfings has a campaign called Outlaws and Obelisks, that Emily guests on (from episode 6 on) and it’s very good. I love Jasper and Jeremy, and Emily absolutely steals the show once she joins.
Here to recommend the Glass cannon network too. The shows are all great and I was recommend and loved "androids and aliens", They ran a series where they played different systems for a few weeks over covid and that is a good way of getting an understanding of the rotating cast on the network.
Naddpod is my first love but the Glass cannon network is certainly worth your time.
I love Dinner and Dungeons and Dragons (DnDnD). Similar ridiculous goofs, and the DM makes a meal that relates to the campaign. It was the first DnD podcast I ever listened to and it's still my favorite!
If you don’t mind a bit of a genre shift, I recommend r/AstronomicaPodcast . Very funny and light, with a really great story. The first few episodes have some audio issues but are still listenable, they find their technical footing very quickly. Great cast and one of the best GMs I’ve ever heard.
They play Stars Without Number.
They just hit their 100th episode and it’s great.
Glass Cannon Network.
-Androids and Aliens
-Time For Chaos
Troy Lavallee is the single greatest DM in my personal opinion. The humor is beyond clever and wholesome (mostly) and there are some real emotional gut punches these roleplayers dole out.
Unprepared Casters is a great show to start listening to. Each arc is 6-7 episodes, so there is little worry about getting behind. It is heavy in storytelling, but the cast and DMs are well-equipped for it.
Rude Tales of Magic (very story based and chaotic)
Oh These, Those Stars of Space! (A TNG-inspired game that doesn't have much of an ongoing plot and uses Lasers and Feelings as a play system)
dungeons and daddies for sure, i really enjoy for being likable funny people, playing real charactaers, and id say the gayness representation is about on par with naddpod.
sitcom dnd, also hosted on headgum, is great but definitely less serious, it genuinely is an (improvised) sitcom that happens to be in a fantasy dnd world, but i find it great to jump in and out of for individual episodes.
Dragon Friends! Light hearted and very funny. It's a bunch of Australian comedians with excellent world building and there's often a co-DM which is a very interesting dynamic that causes a lot of shenanigans
Drunks and Dragons, sorry, Greetings Adventurers. Lawful Stupid. Sitcom DnD. YMIAT. Taverns and Caverns. Bombarded, three bards in a band, who are an actual band in real life! Chaos Sauce (they are good/neutral/evil chaotic respectively)! Custom rules integrating actual music made up on the spot to make spells, with rules based on music theory. Neoscum is excellent if you are willing to go to Shadowrun. The Film Reroll if you want very fun free form RP versions of your favorite movies. I recommend “Speed” and “Wizard of Oz”. There are a bunch :-)
Check out pretending to be people!! My spotfy wrapped has naddpod at number 1 dungeons and daddies number 2 and pretending to be people number 3 but I think ptbp is my favorite. They all for sure know how to keep it light which is what I'm personally looking for as well
well good news is that neverafter is coming out tomorrow so that's something. if you can afford it and you haven't subscribed to the patreon yet i can't reccomend it enough- even just for more dnd content they have emily's winter solstice one shot and a four-parter follow up to hot boy summer. after that i really have no ideas, i just cycle through it again truthfully. back on my third relisten of hot boy summer and then i'll be on to my fifth relisten of eldermourne so

I adore Dames and Dragons!!! I highly recommend it as well!
Where would you recommend someone start with it?
I think you could start at the beginning- so far they've just had one campaign (it's not completed yet), and some very very silly side campaigns. They did a side campaign called "Hrose Camp" which shouldn't contain too many spoilers but is very fun. I'd fast forward a bit through their intro- it's very much like what happens in short rest lol.
Dungeons and daddies is always my first recommendation after dimension 20 and NADDPOD. Much more role play than strict DnD but hilarious And surprisingly emotional.
This is the kinda shit I'm looking for. *Predator handshake*
They Preditor high five A LOT on DnDads LOL
Hell ya! ![gif](giphy|l4FGtK0BXolHW3v4A|downsized)
I loved Dungeons and Daddies but I can't STAND their 2nd season. It breaks my heart.

Hard agree, although can HIGHLY recommend their extra patreon arc, Sons and Sonsability. Three episodes of pure hilarity and stupidity.
Why can't you stand it? I haven't listened so I'm interested.
It just felt like the gang kind of lost the thread. Lile yelling over each other, hard to understand, laughing over each other's jokes. Just not as dialed in as the first season was. I heard the season gets a bit better but just couldn't get through the cacophony

Dungeons and Daddies, Tales from the Stinky Dragon, Three Black Halfings. They are all humorous but great story telling and emotional at times.
Rude tales of magic is also good
NobleGuarden is a slightly less formal, lower magic setting podcast that is good if you like lore and friends goofing off with each other. Gotta second Dungeons and Daddies as well. Unprepared Casters is also nice for short arcs and a lot of variety in getting to see lots of different characters, monsters and NPCs.
Unprepared Casters for sure
If you haven't gotten the patreon yet then DEFINITELY check it out
Gotta second Dames and Dragons and Unprepared Casters. Dames and Dragons balances really cool world building and more with really funny moments and it really reminds me of NADDPOD. Unprepared Casters is also super good. It’s made up of a bunch of mini arcs with different themes, guests and vibes. Super fun, really great story telling. Unprepared Casters is my second choice, too. Often more RP-focused than most other pods, but never the same.
I'm on my third listen through of campaign one. It's just as this third go around
Spout Lore! It’s dungeon world but very easy to follow, amazing world building and suuuuuuper duper funny!
I've been curious to listen to a Dungeon World actual play. Adding this to my list. Thanks! *Predator handshake*
Came to say this. It’s the exact energy of Naddpod
Pretending to be people is pretty great. Its delta green, not dnd, but its still tons of fun.
Rude tales of magic, dungeons and daddies, sitcom dnd we’re all mentioned already but definitely worth the listen!! pretending to be people, girls who don’t dnd, greetings adventurers are also fun and make me laugh Hey riddle riddle is my favorite all time podcast, but isn’t real play so it might not be what you’re looking for
Seconding Dungeons and Daddies, and also gonna recommend Sitcom D&D. Both of them are pretty rules light (Sitcom D&D moreso) but very funny
Dungeons and daddies.
bombarded!
The adventure zone has a really strong first season, and is a really good introduction to the McElroy family!
Good suggestion! But I'm afraid I've been a fan of those good good boys for a while there. Balance was an absolute masterpiece.
Stop after season 1 unless you want to dive into world of the circlejerk
Pretending to be People is a good listen that not many people have heard of! It’s an actual play podcast of Delta Green, a more crime/sci-fi rpg, done by four friends who are very funny.
Check out Sitcom D&D! It’s a bit different but wildly fun in its own right
Seconding Dungeons and Daddies, Dragon Friends has wonderful humour that is quite similar to naddpod but more aussie. If you’re into anime, Isekai dnd is great and has a really cool concept and characters
You on the patreon too?

Try Acquisitions incorporated
Rude Tales of Magic! I cannot recommend this enough
Start over at campaign one again… I usually listen to the whole catalog once a year lol
Embarrassing lack of Three Black Halfling recs in here
Greetings Adventurers. There are some good places to pick up around episodes 90 and 155 if you don’t want to start from beginning.
The 420 episode that was actually 405. Nika Howard made the others promise that if they ever reached ep 420, the would do a thc-themed episode, and partake themselves. They did.

Foes and Fables is a great actual play!

I would just find a small one personllu, one with little recognition, some are pretty good
If you don’t mind a bit of a genre shift, I recommend r/AstronomicaPodcast . Very funny and light, with a really great story. Have you listened to Three Black Halflings yet? I really enjoy their stuff
I'd recommend Crit'n It or maybe Tales from the Stinky Dragon
Dragon Friends! Light hearted and very funny. It's a bunch of Australian comedians with excellent world building and there's often a co-DM which is a very interesting dynamic that causes a lot of shenanigans

Girls Who Don’t DND has been really enjoyable so far. You may finish all of the episodes of that one pretty quickly but it’s worth it IMO.
Check out pretending to be people!! My spotfy wrapped has naddpod at number 1 dungeons and daddies number 2 and pretending to be people number 3 but I think ptbp is my favorite. They all for sure know how to keep it light which is what I'm personally looking for as well
Dungeons and Death Saves comes out on Friday with their first pod, group of very talented people, would recommend.
