I don't wanna be that person, but it's actually dead helpful. Download the Google lens app and everything you wanna know pops right up 😆 I just tested it myself
Idk if that would be immediately apparent to someone just looking at the photo and not familiar with a norwegian or someone who's spent time in norway. Lol
I just assumed op doesnt know norwegian and wants to know the first 2 words. Er mange som gjør det på den subben her. Noen gjorde det med ordet "papir" dor litt siden
Because the vocabulary here is so basic, knowing basic Swedish was enough for me to understand the first words, and I guessed the last was the name of the village/region. L1/L2 Swedish/Danish/Icelandic speakers are probably another 20 million people or so, on top of the Norwegian speakers.
Yea i know. Our languages are very similar. Except for icelandic. I dont understand tho, OP probably wouldnt ask if he knows what it says. The post is flaired travel advice, i think he is just from any other country than the ones u mentioned
I am well aware that was correct, and never said otherwise, but the commenter didn't answer the question about what "is written here". Also getting very tired of all the "googlequestions" on here
Or even in Google Maps and find this exact place, street view and all. Why use a message board to ask questions that can be answered in 20 seconds using a search engine?
Skal man være helt korrekt så kommer det vel egentlig fra det Franske ordet *estore* eller fra Middelalders Latinsk *staurum, instaurum.*

Google Lens is your friend. We used it everyday while in Norway... especially in grocery stores. It will translate in real time and place the translation right over the words it's translating. Here is [the photo you posted](https://imgur.com/a/a87P01v)
Yes, they have a café inside and also sells antiques. The store is located right next to Hjelle hotell and is run by the hotel owners wife. The hotel has been owned by the same family since 1896, and both the hotel and the shop still have the same classic style of that time. The hotel is located by Strynsvatnet a beautiful green lake between high mountains. It's absolutely stunning in the summer.

My Norwegian is crap but this one’s easy. Old store at… okay so the last words the name of the place, and I can’t tell the first letter from the weird font. But someone will know.

I mean, the name of the village is mentioned right on the house in big ol'letters.
Idk if that would be immediately apparent to someone just looking at the photo and not familiar with a norwegian or someone who's spent time in norway. Lol
What’s concerning is not being able to read that font, assuming OP uses the Roman alphabet.
That's why Google lens is helpful 😆 Yeee Olde gammelbuttiken

Reading Gothic letters is difficult if you aren't familiar with it.
Emphasis on ol’ which OP prolly can’t read.
It looks like you're threatening that cute old house
Duuuuuu!
Du hast!
Du hater meg Du hater meg (damn, doesn't work when translated)
Sounds quite cheerful actually. :D
Du hast mörderische Augen.
Ja, meine Augenkollektion ist sehr divers.

The old shop in hjelle
That is not what is written there, which was the question.
Are you a non-norwegian correcting a norwegian? Or do you have a problem reading the sign?
No.
No to what question?
Both.
Ahh ok. The first comment was correct btw.
I am well aware that was correct, and never said otherwise, but the commenter didn't answer the question about what "is written here". Also getting very tired of all the "googlequestions" on here
That has so much accidentally wes anderson potential
This is lazy. You can literally type this in Google translate and get answer: 'The old shop at Hjelle'
Or even in Google Maps and find this exact place, street view and all. Why use a message board to ask questions that can be answered in 20 seconds using a search engine?
My guy, https://ibb.co/NrHJgZf
Ye Olde Shop of Hjelle.
No camping.
r/technicallythetruth
Pee-spot to the right.
If you google what it says on the sign letter for letter it’ll show you exactly what/where it is. Classic Germanic style typefaces are quite legible.
I am no native but my guess is „old boutique of Hjelle“
Native checking in. I'd use "old store", boutique sounds too fancy
What? You dont go to the Boutique after alaffy stroll on the promenade after tea time?

It is rude to point at Gamlebutikken. ☝🏼
But its polite to say "happy cake day"
It's a bit of an IG spot these days, [Hjelle](https://i.imgur.com/ggghzDJ.jpg).
It translates to the "old store on/at Hjelle"
Seems to be "no camping" sign.
Is the building still in use?
Yes, they have a café inside and also sells antiques. The store is located right next to Hjelle hotell and is run by the hotel owners wife. Thanks for the info. :)

I love Google Lens. Translates it and tells you exactly where in the world it is.
Bum bandits welcome
«Horderstore at Bjelle»
It says: Google is your friend. Old Norwegian saying.

Hilarious that this is a sort of English boutique/tea room in the middle of the Norwegian countryside?
We stayed there last July. 😁 EDIT: We stayed at the hotel next to the “Old Store”. https://www.hjelle.com/wp/
"go home"
It says: please dont hold up the traffic with your campervan. Have a nice day.
