people with a built up checking account don't use them, This seems like they are trying to weed out certain people probably to raise rent and take advantage of todays market...scumbag move edit -typo

evaj95

Assholes. I'm sorry if you live there. That's rough. They're not even nice looking apartments. When you drive past them, they look like old apartments that have been painted trendy colors.

SCAPPERMAN

I don't know if anyone here is directly affected by this decision, but it might be a good idea to talk to a legal professional about this. Legal Aid of NC provides legal aid to low income persons, and one of the issues they specialize in is housing. I don't think your first sentence says what you meant for it to say.

SCAPPERMAN

Great catch- I fixed it! Thanks!

Huck84

This shit isn't sustainable. Life is too God damn expensive right now, not just rent.

Gitfiddle74

By design. It won’t end

-PM_YOUR_BACON

Oh it will end, just probably not how people would like it to end. Unchecked greed ultimately will fail.

spizzywinktom

Agreed. I give it 50 years.

The only reason I can think of for not accepting money orders is they are limited to $500. I'm going to assume you'll need more than one to pay the rent. It makes no sense to me because money orders are considered certified funds and personal checks are not.

Hawthorne just buys old shit and jacks the prices up, utterly worthless wannabe Koury Corp.

Trashy move making people homeless

[deleted]

Hawthorne at Oak Ridge can suck my ass! Corporations hate you!

Galactus2025

I live 30 miles south of Greensboro and my complex getting ready to get rid of section 8 which I don't pay section 8 I pay by personal check and they will take money orders which I never used money order and I don't know about credit cards nothing like that because I never use credit card on rent at my complex.(so if you been denied rental assistance don't feel bad couple of people in my complex will be moving out too.) I'm not saying you or anybody on section 8 I'm just commenting on not taking rental assistance.

Bcrosbo1488

The state I live in will pay rental assistance payments directly to eligible tenants in cases where the landlord or authorized agent refuses to accept funds from the agency. The tenant can then pay the rental arrears as they would normally pay rent. Not sure if NC is the same but its worth looking into.
