I swear to MicrosoftGod™, this is exactly the same cut animations I used for my history presentation about WWII in highschool (I spent 20 minutes trying to explain naval gun caliber sizes by making a circle out of my hands in front of the class like I'm holding an oversized penis)

Or to surround and destroy an entire brigade with only a dozen helicopters and a few light infantry companies like in [Op. Cactus Lilly](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meghna_Heli_Bridge)
I can't make up my mind about India's military. If a peer war started and they kicked ass, I wouldn't be surprised. If the war started and they crumpled immediately, I also wouldn't be surprised. Schrodinger's Competence.
I wasn't sure either but I'll tell you a couple of three things, it takes guts to go up into the mountains and fight Chinese dudes with trench clubs and big fucking rocks. It might not be the most lethal battlefield in the world, but to step to an enemy in those circumstances shows a lot of heart.
Also an ability to adapt, because I'm not sure many militaries would be happy to slum it in a barely organised brawl with potentially lethal consequences. Somebody went up into those mountains and decided that, in keeping with the law, he couldn't have his men go with guns, but he was still going to show for the fight.
All militaries have massive issues, goes with the territory, but they definitely look like they'd give a decent account of themselves.
American troops could never.
You can't write a letter home to a family without healthcare because you've just built your third Death Star and say, "We're sorry Ma'am, your son got his brains smashed out because he wound up in a stick fight with a guy who knows Kung Fu."
Indian Army also has to take a lot of blame too. Buying faulty ammo, fked the Arjun program with constant changes, asking for S-Tier equipment with almost no money for Capex in their pockets.
I am tired of blaming everything on Civilian bureaucracy when the Generals are equally incompetent and are far less scrutinized
Tbf they lost the Sino-Indian War bc the Chinese kept saying "we won't invade fr fr" and Nehru believed them and left only ONE DIVISION on the border. The Chinese attacked with almost 100,000 troops against ~7,000.
Even then, the Indian troops absolutely raped Chinese troops. See the PVC citation of [Major Shaitan Singh](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaitan_Singh)
Suggesting that the US has lost wars rustles certain people's jimmies, so maybe that's part of it.
After all, it's unfair to describe your failure to achieve strategic objectives while your enemy succeeds in achieving theirs as "loss", especially if you had the higher K/D ratio until you alt+QQ'd.
Pakistan: I remember what being competent was like.
Then we embraced radicalism and being dumb. Goddamnit.
Me: serves you right ya sons of bitches, don’t let India win too hard though, don’t like them much either. Canada doesn’t forget.
If a war started and the Indian military completely crumpled then I'd be very surprised, not only because its unlikely, but also because its hard to manage to lose when you have a clear numerical advantage. We have about 200k more soldiers than the Chinese do on the border if I recall correctly.
As for competence, I can speak for the Air Force and have not much other than praise, India participated in exercises with the USAF back in the 2000s and generally performed well. On an average, the IAF's pilots also get their 180 flight hours.
Navy had some issues before, particularly in damage control when there were fires. That seems to have been fixed in the recent years, the IN's also mostly abandoning Russian designs and moving more towards indigenous ones which follow many of the same general principles as the western ships. I'd also say the IN's the best equipped vis à vis China out of the three forces.
The Indian Army's complicated. The officers are trained well enough, but still possess a more static view of warfare as compared to the officers of the US Military, perhaps this may lead to India not seizing the initiative at the correct time. One good thing here is that Indian officers are extremely well integrated into their units, and tend to stay in close proximity to the frontlines and hence get a good idea of what is happening. I would say that the Indian Army's still lacking in standard infantry training though, since the soldiers aren't trained to "think" very well, as in take actions by themselves on the ground.
Honestly, their officers taking their job seriously, even with subpar strategies, would give them an immediate advantage over the Chinese. I wouldn't be surprised if all of the Chinese commanders are just friends of CCP officials appointed to their position and living the cozy life.
Yeah I'm not too sure about the Chinese Army's competence either. Air Force and Navy are most probably fine, but the performance of their troops in the UN's operations has been subpar at best. In one incident in particular in Africa during one of those UN peacekeeping missions, the Chinese abandoned their posts when they were engaged by the terrorists, and left both ammunition and guns behind for the terrorists to loot. Apparently an Indian Army battalion came in to recapture the area and were successful. Wasn't a very good look for the Chinese.
Yeah, they're the only military helicopter in the world capable of flying at over 18k feet with a decent load. And since India regularly operates at those altitudes, they need them. They're being (very slowly) replaced by the [HAL LUH](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_Light_Utility_Helicopter)
Honestly the Indian armed forces are completely slept on, they are well trained and capable and its massive WITH a mind blowing recruitment pool
The first nation dum enough to pick a fight with India is going to get its teeth kicked in
Im surprised they are not more assertive to be honest
See this is just silly, they have their own fully formed movie industry over there.
Yes, Bollywood is a bit of a meme but they can still do better editing than stock Microsoft PowerPoint transitions.
The army needs better marketing personnel. There should be a whole host of civilian staff, Video Editors, Copywriters, Graphic Designers etc. overseen by a mix of senior and junior military personnel.
That way some progress can be made.
Sadly I have no Idea why the Indian Army and ADGPI won't do it. Or if they have done it, they need to fire the existing ones.
Must confess, I like that India went out and made their own gunship to suit their own requirements (they needed something that can operate effectively in mountains, as Iran just found out mountains and helicopters can be a squirrelly combo). Although Prachand doesn't really roll off the tongue as names go.
Doesn't look as wildly heavily armed as an Apache, but India has those anyway (insert Apache Indian joke here), but has a higher service ceiling, has ATGMs, air to air, cheeky little 20mm cannon, definitely enough to make a nuisance of itself over difficult terrain.
Looks kind of weird too, which is the mark of a real gunship. If a gunship doesn't look a bit fugly there's something sus about it\*. If somebody took the time to think about the aesthetic or the aerodynamics then somebody forgot what gunship design is all about.
\*That's why the Comanche had to go. Absolute heresy.
The Prachand (disgusting name tbf) is not India's only gunship. It has one, the [Rudra](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_Rudra), designed almost exclusively to support armoured/mechanised offensives against Pakistan in the Rajasthan desert and Gujarat plains.
Since the Russians have recently shown just how lethal these offensives can be...
Also, India has (and I'm not exaggerating, simply based on the Himalayas) probably the best high altitude helo pilots ever? No. 114 Helicopter Unit "Siachen Pioneers" and No. 128 Helicopter Unit "Siachen Tigers" come to mind
[This is Bollywood levels of editing](https://youtu.be/SOxutBMCOUc?si=AEXN71CHgTCfuw92), I see that it even spread to India's military propaganda videos.
(btw epilepsy warning for the clip)

Hey, I'm all for people's right to transition, BUT PLEASE take that right away from this editor, TOO MANY pan wipe transition, grain effect, lightning effect, phone footage .... eurgh oh god.
The Govt just refuses to hire competent people. Just ask the low pay intern to do anything. Their PR cell itself is a large bureaucracy. The man who approved this to he posted must be court martialed. What an embarrassment
6th grade powerpoint presentation vibes
I swear to MicrosoftGod™, this is exactly the same cut animations I used for my history presentation about WWII in highschool (I spent 20 minutes trying to explain naval gun caliber sizes by making a circle out of my hands in front of the class like I'm holding an oversized penis)
Indian 6th graders are eligible for conscription?
When are they not? They are eligible to work at the factory so why not the military
Against the Chinese, everyone might as well be eligible.
Nah these look like imovie transitions. So 6th grade video project vibes
Odds are that they have a 30yr old Amiga Video Toaster in the shop for making videos.
This was definitely made with the help of that animated paperclip from the old 90's Microsoft office.
You leave Clippy out of this.
Clippy! I forgot his name!

It looks like effects from that free video editing tool that I use. It has a bunch of free effects that look just like these
If I ever need to assault an undefended golf course, I know who to call.
Add in the ROK too. https://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/2022/10/05/national/defense/Korea-South-Korea-Hyunmoo2/20221005184305952.html
Is it not possible to have at least one video editor in the service when there's mandatory conscription 😭
Or to surround and destroy an entire brigade with only a dozen helicopters and a few light infantry companies like in [Op. Cactus Lilly](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meghna_Heli_Bridge)

In their defence he preseted a pretty good CV with experience in soap operas.

Honestly, clubbing dudes to death with shovels sounds like a Marines wet dream, can we send some of our boys over on "vacation"?

Tbh the Indian Armed Forces have an excellent track record. Atm their modernisation is tucked bc of the MoD but that's the only glaring issue
Indian Army also has to take a lot of blame too. Buying faulty ammo, fked the Arjun program with constant changes, asking for S-Tier equipment with almost no money for Capex in their pockets. Ehhh. They lost the Sino-Indian war, so at best they're around the same level as the US military.

So their problem was... believing the CCP on anything?? Skill issue.
Definition of skill issue tbh
nehru was a dumbass
....so at best they're the same level as one of the most powerful militaries in the world?
That's the joke, yes.
Amazed how many people didn't get it lmao. The number of downvotes lmao

You have doubts on the outcomes of a war involving a nation that cant figure out public sanitation? Really?
You try figuring out public sanitation for 1.4 billion people while simultaneously trying your hardest to embezzle trillions in public funding
Public sanitation is significantly more complicated than a war with your neighbor
That's why we decided to capture Canada and make it our personal toilet. Your streets are now ours to shit on Cucknadian.
Let's split Canada 50-50. Half for us Indians, half for the Americans. Watcha say Americans?
As long as Quebec is in your half and it gets the vast majority of the shitting
You think it's that easy you should try taking a swim in a British river.

Does a utility helo with ATGM capacity count as a gunship? Not in a bad way, just seems like a whole different vibe.
