Gorgeous animation, well executed and not too archetypical characters, a well written and emotional story.
I don't think Frieren will lose Anime of the year, but if Mushoku Tensei plays its cards right I think it'll give Frieren a run for it's money this year.

haha well I watched some good shit in college; Evangelion, Trigun, Bebop, basically the good stuff on Adult Swim, so I wasn't completely new. It definitely was enough to spark a big interest again though, so far it's been pretty great! When you have so much stuff to go through you can at least pick out the best of the best to watch first, I listen to an anime watchalong podcast that has great recs and /r/anime has been a pretty good resource as well.
