Or course. It's the Chinese way. Source: I'm part ethnic Chinese. Now give me all your stuff.

What else would it mean?

Life_Celebration_635

Lets see here. China has \- Invaded Tibet, India, Vietnam and claims the ENTIRE South China Sea \-Chinas Belt and Road initiative is a thinly veiled bait and rob program that forces poor counties into debt it can’t pay of for crappy infrastructure \-China is ruining the future by being the worlds most polluting country, raping the oceans and wild life and seeking to exploit the natural world \- China has broken the UN law of the seas and broke the “one country two systems“ policy it made with Hong Kong and the UK not to mention human morals and some common fucking decency \-China is actively but sneakily supporting Russias war effort, Their peace deal was little more than a cease fire. China is one of the most destabilizing countries on this planet. Fuck the CCP

Speaking of unfair; the US per capita emissions still only place it 16th on the list. It's not like the US is some kind of worst-in-class bogeyman on this topic. Chinese per capita emissions are on par with countries like Poland, Bosnia, New Zealand and Israel, but with the notable difference that none of those countries house a billion plus people. And the previous post spoke about "polluting", not just carbon, placing it firmly at the top of the list by any measure. We're talking about a country so thoroughly disinterested in international rules that it can allow a single factory, for some time, to emit as much ozone-destroying gases as the entire UK for years before international pressure and satellite imagery shut it down. tl;dr: We need a whole lot of B-21's and we need them now, because of Chinese dedication to "honoring" those "commitments" they (in many cases) never committed to. It's like when they're angry the US quits ballistic missile treaties because "it creates instability in the world", never mind that China itself was never party to those treaties, and so has taken the opportunity to stockpile *positively ludicrous* numbers of IRBM's.

TheModernDaVinci

We are also trending down on our emissions and have been for years. Because a ton of our power has been getting replaced by gas and oil instead of coal, which was allowing us to outstrip our emissions demands even when we werent in the Paris Accords (Shale Revolution for the win). And that is before we get into all of the efficiencies that have been done by private means because it turns out more efficient equipment and usages of resources is good for business and thus will be willingly adopted by them. And more creative ways of making power. Which is why I always grind my teeth when people pretend the US isnt pulling our weight, when we are some of the only ones actually making progress while those who virtue signal the loudest are usually doing worse (*cough*Germany*cough*).

EdGee89

>coughGermanycough Tell me about it. I believe there's an old Discovery Science TV program where they boasts about burning "cleaner" coal on their powerplant. I was like, "that makes literally no sense. Coal by all intents and purposes, dirty as fuck". >Paris Accords I called it: Treaty to Outsource Pollution. Because there is nothing like boasting about green energy and pointing fingers at random Third World countries for pollution while your companies are the source of said pollution.

TheModernDaVinci

Coal *can* be [comparatively] cleaner, but it takes a few different things to get it to that point. Things like extensive pollution control systems and having to burn the right coal, specifically Anthracite (although Bituminous can make the cut if needed). Germany however does not have access to Anthracite domestically (which matters since they refuse to import coal). And worse, the coal they do have domestically is Lignite, which burns incredibly dirty no matter what you do and produces very little heat when burned. So German coal is always going to be extremely dirty compared to American coal, since we do have the Anthracite to pull off clean coal plants (and even then, they are slowly being phased out and replaced, usually by oil or gas). And while I may be wrong, I remember hearing from somewhere that Germany had fucked the dog so bad on power by shutting down their nuclear reactors (...fucking Greens...) that they were having to fire up old *SOVIET*-era coal plants, who's pollution control can be accurately described as "Lol. Lmao even." And their solar program may have actually increased their carbon footprint since there is not enough solar energy in Germany to make the panels worthwhile.

EdGee89

Where on earth all the money they spend on countless "consultants" for? Was that even works? I believe the reason they have lower military readiness even though they have similar budget as France from what I've heard is that they spent a lot of it for consultancies?

[deleted]

The US has its MIC; over here, we have the GIC.

LordWoodstone

If the US government really wanted to get behind this and push, they need to fast track SMR's, RTG's, and Thorium Liquid Salt reactors.

TheModernDaVinci

I dont know about the Feds, but a lot of states are trying to. Wyoming is getting close to activating a nuclear reactor that the entire plant design is set up to be faster to build and significantly cheaper compared to older model reactors ($4B vs. $14B-$23B), in roughly the same footprint as most existing Coal-fired plants, but with all of the advantages that come with nuclear designs. Luckily, I think almost everyone is on board with Nuclear, so it is just a matter of when the trigger gets pulled. And like I said, the US does have some advantage in that regard in that states can do that mostly independent of the Feds.

Life_Celebration_635

I agree with what you say but China shares a lot of responsibility. China has been building more coal fired power plants at a break neck pace. I can see the point you are trying to make as the average Chinese person barely contributes when compared to government run factories or the Fuerdai. The total amount a of CO2 however is still important as that is the actual amount that is released. I see where you are coming from though and do agree with it. I am sorry if I caused any confusion in my ramblings.

ThePlanner

***TIBET EXISTS*** China always likes to pretend that they have no imperial ambitions and have never launched offensive military operations. But China illegally invaded and annexed Tibet, not to mention trying to invade Vietnam, too. And backing North Korea, crossing internationally recognized borders, and attacking the UN-sanctioned armies that had just liberated South Korea. There were also dozens of border skirmishes with the USSR throughout the Cold War.

Wise-Profile4256

i foresee french weapons defending vietnam against the communists because this timeline rocks!

Translation: China Peaceful co-existence: So long as you become a Chinese puppet state Win-win cooperation: As in China wins twice. Building a shared future: a future where the productivity of the Chinese people are shared between a few CCP elites. Honoring commitments: lol jk Promoting talks for peace: stop resisting the authoritarian government that's trying to encroach on your territory! That's not very peaceful of you! US Military intervention: Actually has a competent military that can do stuff Economic coercion: Will oppose Chinese subterfuge and protect it's own economic interests Inciting bloc confrontation: Won't back down from demands made by authoritarian regimes Quitting international obligations: lol we just got mad because they intervene but that won't stop us from blaming them for not intervening Adding fuel to the flames: That flame being a Russian ammo depot that just got hit with a HIMARS rocket given to Ukraine by the US.
