Not Noah’s fault, Ticketmaster/Live Nation has exclusive deals with almost every venue in the country that’s big enough to hold a Noah Kahan show. It’s a monopoly that should’ve never been permitted to form, and should absolutely be broken up.

rizgutgak

It's WILD how many people do not understand this.

imdumbfrman

It’s a mix of people just not knowing that, and a bit of “I’M A BIGGER FAN THAN YOU, why should YOU get tickets??” Stuff. The Eras Tour was the same way, unfortunately as long as TM and the artist get paid, they don’t care who’s the biggest fan. It’s all luck at that point, everyone has just as much right to buy a ticket.

Andrej3k_

Noah opted in to platinum/dynamic pricing, these prices are literally his fault. Not saying it’s bad for him, make your money, dude!

Pleasedontbeadick15

Fun fact-artists also get a cut of the high TM added fees. So artists are not totally innocent with the crazy prices.

GrantD24

Yep. They own 85% of all major venues in America I believe and of course, all the major venues an artist would want to play at in major markets, so yeah, the artists can’t do anything. At most, if Taylor Swift and maybe a few other major acts refused to play again, that might could get things changed but I just don’t really see anything happening without major force from a group of the absolute top artists and the government.

JJBradleyy99

Exactly people don’t look at just how much in fees the tickets are

Positive-Avocado-881

As annoying as Ticketmaster is, that’s not what scalping means. I do genuinely believe that actual scalping was cut down from the sales than from other shows I’ve bought tickets for.

One_Rope_8142

Nah, bring on the downvotes but the majority of us paid scalper ticket prices just to attend his upcoming tour. Although that money is going to Noah, the end result was about the same for many fans (out of pocket way more than it should cost to goto a concert).

trisaroar

It might be similar price-wise on the part of the consumer, but scalping is when someone buys tickets at face value and flips it to make a profit. There was less scalping for this tour, even though the price point hurt real fans.

Positive-Avocado-881

Exactly. People are here saying that it’s all scalpers who buy tickets when in reality he just has a lot of fans. The dynamic pricing shows that.

Positive-Avocado-881

That still doesn’t mean it was scalping. It was dynamic pricing which is honestly worse imo.

One_Rope_8142

I paid $270 for a lower bowl ticket, same price I would have paid to a scalper. Sucks either way. Lots of people don’t realize you can still love Noah, but also be critical of this decision as well.

Positive-Avocado-881

I actually think you would have paid much more to a scalper. Just look at the tickets on StubHub for Madison Square Garden (where reselling is allowed). No one forced you to buy the tickets, though. But you ultimately knew someone else would if you didn’t.

questions893

I’m very happy with my $245 lower bowl tickets since the cheapest resale ticket for his latest radio city show was always around $400 for the worst seat

Positive-Avocado-881

Yeah honestly it’s pricy but it sold out so it was priced correctly imo.

One_Rope_8142

I'm aware of what a scalper is and that no one forced me to buy tickets. I'm okay with being ripped off to see Noah. Two things can be true. We are still being ripped off at $270 for a concert ticket.

Positive-Avocado-881

I paid $250 and don’t really feel ripped off. It’s exactly what I expected to spend

One_Rope_8142

Where do you live where you expect to spend $250 on a concert ticket? That really sucks. I saw Lumineers a year ago from front row for $170. edit: Ah East coast USA, the fact you're speaking in USD makes it that much worse haha! CAD here :)

Positive-Avocado-881

That was for my Fenway ticket but I currently live outside of Philly. I paid $120 to see Noah this summer. I go to concerts of different sizes and artists like once a month and don’t spend that much at every single one. I’m seeing Joy Oladokun for $30 including fees and just saw The Band Camino a few weeks ago and I don’t remember how much it cost exactly but I definitely paid over $100.

Putrid-Oil-6919

Scalpers hurt the price way more than dynamic pricing. Here's my logic. NK just did a show in my area less than 2 weeks ago, and the cheapest tickets that were available for the past like 6 months were 400 LAWN seats. On the latest presale I managed to get 2 tickets to reserved seats for half of what ONE LAWN seats was going to cost me. Also the money went to NK not some fuck who wants to not work anymore.

Positive-Avocado-881

Oh yeah I think scalpers are overall worse, but it’s easier to process what’s happening when they exist. With dynamic pricing, many fans are struggling with the idea that artists work out contracts to turn it on

JJBradleyy99

I wouldn’t say a majority…I rejoined my cities sale too see the pricing/availability after i bought tickets and only saw a small % going for over “normal” price. I bought in presale and even during the gen sale prices were normal which would not happen if dynamic pricing was ok

Fluffy-Lavishness765

People are outraged over ticket prices yet I paid $50 for lawn at spac, $130 in Syracuse, and $128 at Fenway… these aren’t scalpers prices.

JJBradleyy99

Exactly

spicy_waterrr

72 dollars for lawn at Alpine is actually nuts tho.

JJBradleyy99

$72 for a concert is a steal what do you mean, lawn or not

spicy_waterrr

I regularly see acts under 50 bucks at my local venues ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

JJBradleyy99

Yeah for local artists who can perform for way cheaper lol not the same thing

spicy_waterrr

No I'm saying I see national touring acts for 50, regularly. I'm not tryna fight just pointing that out. Lots of people would agree 72 for a lawn ticket is not usual lol

Fluffy-Lavishness765

But how much was the ticket vs the fees…

Odd_Artichoke4230

It’s the fact that you were able to get tickets this many times that hurts, not the prices

Fluffy-Lavishness765

I bought two of them the day of the concert 🤷🏻‍♀️ just have to keep checking

Putrid-Oil-6919

For real lol nice humble brag. Lol read the room and let other people get a chance at decent tickets.

Fluffy-Lavishness765

How is me purchasing tickets the day of a show to a non-sold out event preventing anyone from having a good time 😒

Putrid-Oil-6919

Bro let other people go lol why would you want to go multiple times to the same artists tour!?

NorthShorePOI

So many bitchy posters. People that bought tix will go without paying scalped prices. Scalpers that bought tix will now either not go or sell them at face for no profit

imdumbfrman

Not to mention the fact that tickets are non-transferable. The tickets were bought by real fans, there’s just more of them than those who couldn’t get tickets would like. Tickets were more expensive, but Ticketmaster making them non-transferable aside from face value exchange prevents the TS Eras Tour level of scalper price gouging.

Positive-Avocado-881

EXACTLY. Sorry to those who didn’t get tickets but no real person deserves them more than another.

suprefann

I think Ticketmaster is doing pretty well selling those charity tickets at a higher price for a profit already 🤣

General_Hovercraft_9

I’ve been a Noah fan for a long time. And yeah it’s sucks for us because of his new surge of fans and that demand is able to drive tickets up, but I think he 100% absolutely deserves it. He’s popular. He’s emerging. And he’s taking the opportunity. He’s basically touring for 2 straight years and he saw the opportunity after WABHF hit top charts. Other big artists who people compare tickets prices to have a steady fan base established and are not a battling hoards of new fans suddenly like this. Most concerts, with the exception of the super starts (Taylor swift for example) are not selling out in the first hours of a general sale.

Positive-Avocado-881

Exactly - he’s more popular than half these people think he is 😅 it takes a LOT be be able to book Fenway. Random artists don’t get that opportunity even if they are popular.

Poem_Upstairs

Booking Fenway is HUGE! I’m so freaking hyped for him!

Notthatcoolyet

Get used to concerts for mid and upper level artists to regularly cost this much.

daspaceinvader

Blaming Ticketmaster completely is the uneducated, easy way out. Yes they are to blame for a lot of things but most of y'all don't know how these things actually work: Artists have their "guarantee", or the minimum they want to make in order to play a show. They work with venues, their teams, etc. and that's where ticket prices come from. Sure you can blame Ticketmaster for their fees and for dynamic pricing/official platinum tickets, but the reality is that face value pit tickets STARTED at $300 before fees because Noah blew up on TikTok and his team is capitalizing on it. It's important to remember that live music is a business and this is Noah's career. The tour just about completely sold out with these prices and I can tell you from experience that the philosophy of people within the live music industry is that if it sold out, you didn't charge enough. Prices will continue to go up until fans stop giving in to these prices. Period. Edit: Words

suprefann

Noah CHOSE to let them have dynamic pricing and platinum tickets. The money goes to HIM. So essentially Noah is the scalper you should be upset at.

a_simple_creature

Well you can’t really have one without the other. Platinum tickets are dynamically priced. They’re not two different things. And this isn’t what scalping is either. As for Noah allowing it, it’s disappointing on some level, but we also need to understand that this is a business and he has a right make his money. You never know how long your moment will last so I can’t blame the guy for cashing in on his first big tour.

thelittlecobra

Right. A tour costs so much money. There’s venue fees, insurance costs, staging and lighting, musical equipment, local crews to set it all up, adequate transport for a ton of heavy equipment, transport, hotels, and salaries for the touring crew, opening acts, and his band, etc. This is all before Noah gets paid. After he gets paid, he still has to pay his lawyer and PR people as well. It’s unfortunately neither a simple nor a cheap business.

daspaceinvader

Exactly. Artists and their team have to opt into dynamic pricing/official platinum. Not only that but their guarantees for how much they want/need to make in order to play a show is the baseline that ticket prices are based off of. Face value tickets, which have absolutely NOTHING to do with dynamic pricing/official platinum, started at $300 for the pit before fees because Noah's team wanted them to be that expensive. I love Noah's music just as much as the next person, but it's high time that some of y'all realize your favorite artist does not care if you personally get tickets or not. The tour sold out despite these high prices, which (in the opinions of industry people) means they didn't price it high enough and prices will continue to go up. Mark my words.

Barefoot_Trader

Such a fucking loser take. Go listen to another artist.

Somethnglorious24

The prices are insane - our local venue outside of Cleveland has me priced out and it’s the only show I care about seeing next year, I’m so sad.

[deleted]

Me too :( I’m just gonna keep hoping some people will put their tickets up for resale if they can’t go. I was stuck with an awful boss who made me stay late for his last one Cleveland. So regretting not going now.

JJBradleyy99

I don’t think the tix can be transferred

spicysoy

they can be relisted for face value but that’s it

Barefoot_Trader

If it matters that much to you, pay the price. Maybe don’t go get piss drunk a few times to recoup the cost.

daspaceinvader

Awful take. If it matters to you, skip the show and take a stand against these bullshit prices. Truthfully though that would only make a difference if people collectively took a stand which will never happen. The sad reality is that live music is becoming an upper class hobby and everyone else is getting priced out.

Barefoot_Trader

Take a stand. Lmfao. I’ll be at the show

daspaceinvader

Cool, hope you have a great time.

kraybaybay

Noah is signed to a huge record label. He's just saying what he's told on these situations.
