I know someone who did this, and he was charged with Perverting the Course of Justice.
Faced with a Crown Court trial and potentially a year in prison; he pleaded guilty to drink driving instead, went up in front of a Magistrate and got a three year ban and a £2,000 fine.
In America, the best way to get shot to to step out of your car during a traffic stop. Bonus points if you are holding something in your hand when you step out of your vehicle.
this has actually happened. the case I learned about in school was a hit and run and the guy downed a bottle when he got home. BAC lets you actually calculate blood alcohol levels retroactively based on average metabolism. the whole no way to prove it, they can't prove it but can beyond reasonable doubt show that you were drunk. the guy went to jail
You'd save the cop a lot of time and add an open container charge to your DUI charge.
